Retro feel
Luk Yu Tea House
2010-02-01
Went to hv dim sum with my family on a sunday. surprisingly its not that full! the decor is very old style, "retro" feel. actually i kinda like it in a sense. if u r to take ur overseas friends to try some traditional dim sum, this would be the place i suggest after 蓮香樓. 蓮香樓 is a bit of a chaos. whereas here, u can still sit and chat comfortably. The dim sum menu looks as if it has been used for years. and they do hv some very old style dim sum that u cannot find in many chained chinese restaurant. I was so thrilled to see sesame paste bun!! (not the black sesame type) It was my big favourite!! and it seems to be extinct nowadays. Unlike others, the sesame paste bun here came as one big bun. Yet... it was a BIG disappointment. the bun itself was dry and hard. the sesame paste was equally dry and hard!!!! arrh... anyway this restaurant still takes credit for its preservation of "orginal". i think i'd still visit with my family from time to time... …Read More

HK Epicurus I love that Sesame Paste Bun and this is what I come here for craving! 麻蓉包 I think? The other one I like here is there Soup Dumpling and also the 燒腩卷.But I think the executions here isn't very good to be honest, but its interesting enough. PS: You should write more reviews!

A restaurant with "heart"
Sosam Tea House

This is a piece of gem tucked in a rather remote location. tried it out with my bf for dinner the other day. When we arrived, a blackboard with today's menu was shown to us. This very much reminded me of the small homey restaurant back in Nice... First impression was already very good. On the blackboard, there were a variety of pasta/ noodle dishes. Not many meat dishes. (later we realised we had to pre-order the meat dishes like roasted chicken/ fish etc!) Since only 2 of us, we ordered a bowl of noodles with 人面醬, a risotto with italian porcini, pakchoi in fish soup and a moulleux au chocolat. The 人面醬is very tasty with a bit of spice. The risotto took quite some time to arrive but absolutely worth the wait. At the first look, it's a bit too liquid. But the taste was unbeatable! The moulleux au chocolat costing $60 a piece was a bit disappointing. Although the cake was baked just right (with molten chocolate oozing out), the outside of the cake was a bit chewy... Would luv to try their other dishes. But probably with more ppl sharing, it's a better deal. And remember to pre-order before going! …Read More

Heavenly chocolate experience
Chocolux

This cozy cafe is offering a chocolate buffet every wed and thurs from 7-9pm. At first I was worried that they would cut cost for the buffet and the quality would be not as good. BUT I was totally wrong! The desserts are prepared only when you ordered them. So the portion is the same as the a la carte menu! Quality is more emphasised than quantity in this cafe. Although there are not a lot of choices to choose from (9-10), the satistion it gives worths much more! Desserts include: moelleux au chocolat (BEST OF THE BEST), affogato (ice-cream with macaroon, kahlua, espresso), hot brownie sundae (my 2nd favourite), crepes with different fillings, macaroons (not as good as I expected), chocolate fondue and chocolate truffles. 1 special drink is included: chocochaud or mochachaud. At the cost of $175 (10% alrdy included), I think it is worth. Coz each dessert costs around $60-70 alrdy! …Read More

A pleasant sunday lunch
Segafredo Zanetti Espresso
2007-12-10
I am a super bread lover. So I opted for a 2-course set lunch ($88). Starting with salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. not a lot of surprise but can tell the veggies are fresh & crunchy. Main course is either a large panino or 2 small panini which vary from day to day. I chose the large panino option. It was supposed to be ciabatta with grilled veggie. but i preferred Piadina. The waiter was very kind enuf to change it for me! really luv piadina, its a flat bread, filled with a lot of grilled eggplant, zucchini and bell pepper! on the side, there are 2 sauces: olive paste and mustard. match fairly well with my vegetarian sandwich! But what impresses me most was the coffee!!! I had an espresso machiato. very strong flavour but neither sour or bitter! So far, in HK, i could only name 2 best good coffees: Agnes b la pain grille and Segafredo! I"ll definitely go back for coffees! may try their happy hours as well …Read More
