Mangia everything!
Mangia!
2025-07-01
Everyone had a different favourite from the succulent ox tongue with crunchy onions, to the hint of chili on the eggplant covered in worm like rice crispies, to the fresh clams with a kick of sambal. The foie gras mini burgers were decadent with a perfectly paired chocolate sauce and hint of Asian flavour from the duck floss. But the burrata coated in tomato powder takes the top spot oozing with a surprise tom yum centre. Pastas were all excellent too. We recommend the crab pasta which was light and well balanced with yuzu. Skip dessert and have another starter instead. The tiramisu was good but perhaps a little too boozy for my taste. …Read More

For nostalgia’s sake
Tsui Wah Restaurant (Sliver Fortune Plaza)
2025-01-28
Reopened Tsui Wah doesn’t have the local charm that the old central branch used to hold. Ironically we were disappointed by how flashy and clean the restaurant digs were, the attentiveness and patience of (most of) the staff, and at the fact all the menus can be read in one place. Not to mention they close at 10pm. But the food was not half bad. In fact the XO noodles were worth a second round. The only problem being that despite sending back the dish to the kitchen, there was no XO sauce! Maybe a couple of flakes of conpoy but the only spice on this disk marked with a chilli on the menu was the chilli sauce (not XO sauce) served on the side. A solid dish, with good taste and crunch to the noodles, but definitely did not deliver on what was advertised. The baked spaghetti bolognese is not as good as before and at the higher cost was however disappointing. Customers looking for a taste of old HK classics are far better off forking out for the higher prices at the new Jimmy’s kitchen on Pedder St. …Read More

Sichuanese bib gourmand in Sheung Wan
Jing Alley by Flower Drum
2020-11-01
Charming little restaurant right by the MTR with attentive and friendly staff serving modern Sichuanese cuisine. A menu from which you just have to come back to try more, and great value sets with a huge variety of tasty treats from delicious frogs legs and addictively spicy fish, prawns served with heavenly aubergine, bite size mapo tofu puffs, and the some of the most mouthwatering Iberico cha siu. Michelin recommended - Delicious…Read More
