Randomly stumbled upon this gem in Tai Hang and was pleasantly surprised. The sleek interiors with mood lighting was very inviting. We were greeted at the door by the most adorable little girl who took us to our table. There was a very reasonably priced dinner set menu for $288 but we opted for the a la carte menu which consisted mainly of Yakitori with some appetisers such as crab and avocado salad, dried grilled cod and edamame. The little girl (the owner’s daughter) took our order without writing it down, and did not miss a single dish. Amidst dinner service, the father joined in as well, helping with cooking the food. It was a really nice ambience to see a family working together in the kitchen, it made the atmosphere very homey. Our Yakitori skewers were cooked to perfection and our salad crisp and fresh. Cannot wait to come back during the day where there is a separate menu of brunch type food, the mentaiko spaghetti sounds like it would be delicious 😋 …Read More

Poor customer service
Gyoza AnD
2025-06-06
Decent food, many varieties of gyoza to choose from with a limited option of ramen.Main complaint was the waiter who took our order without writing it down and came back 5 minutes to ask us to repeat our order, also not writing it down, then forgetting half our order so that there was a huge gap between our meal. I asked twice for no bean sprouts in my ramen only for the ramen to show up with ramen. When we initially ordered the shrimp gyoza, the waiter joked about it being sold out. Had he spent less time trying to make an unfunny joke and more time on memorizing our order, we would have had a better customer experience…Read More

Delicious bar bites
RONIN Snack Bar
2023-11-05
Always been an avid fan of Ronin and I’m just as much of a fan of its revamped concept. It is now Japanese tapas style bites with an ever extensive drinks list. What I love is that for non alcohol consuming patrons, there are delicious mocktails on offer and I am not forced to order just a boring soda water. Food wise, there are cute plays on traditionally western food but with a Japanese twist such as the smoked beer battered Amadai with kewpie mayo which was reminiscent of good old fish and chips. Other favourites included pizza stuffed wings (you heard right), meaty mozzarella, pepperoni and olives stuffed into a pizza wing, and Sanma Pike Mackerel accompanied by a fennel and red onion pickled salad. The oysters are always fresh and the crunchy monaka was perfectly juxtaposed against the softness of the sea urchin and tender scallops. The dessert of sweet potato mochi donut is a must order and this time round, it was carrot flavoured with a cinnamon sprinkle, which tasted like autumn 😍…Read More

Perfect execution
Cultivate
2023-11-03
Finally decided to try Cultivate after months of walking by and I was impressed with the quality of the food. With a seasonal menu that changes regularly, the ingredients were fresh and executed to perfection. My personal favourite was Leonard’s take on the Hainan chicken rice, which combined tender pieces of three yellow chicken together with a chicken roulade. It was accompanied with a rich chicken broth that was very aromatic. Excellent service and Leonard and his chef de cuisine make a special effort to speak with each party of guests, providing a personal touch to the experience. While the full tasting menu is 8 courses, their minimal use of dairy products keeps the menu light and you are not left falling into a food coma. …Read More

Quality decline
Zuma Hong Kong
2023-10-29
Zuma used to be one of my favourite brunch places, especially pre covid with a large variety of items in the buffet. This is my second time post covid where the buffet has been substituted for unlimited appetisers served to the table. Compared to my last visit, the quality and variety of appetisers has certainly declined. The sashimi was not particularly fresh, the gyoza skins were too thick and their previously assortment of Yakitori was non existent except for some sad looking chicken wings. The mains have also shrunk in size, the classic teriyaki salmon significantly smaller in portion and the chicken has been reduced to a couple of small pieces of chopped up chicken. The only saving grace of the meal were the delightful servers who were very attentive and perhaps the mini chocolate lava cakes for dessert. Overall a very disappointing experience, the brunch is now only a shell of what it used to be. …Read More

Wholesome Japanese food
Benko By Nüte.
2023-07-23
Perfect place for a healthy and hearty meal. Japanese inspired bowls with plenty of options. I come here weekly and my favourite is the succulent chicken and soft pillowy tamagoyaki. I love the assortment of options for vegetables, each with different flavours, providing a healthy balance. All the containers are compostable, making the meal environmentally conscious too!…Read More

Like being in Korea
SamMok Korean Restaurant
2023-07-13
Delicious food, great value for money for good quality meat. The seafood pancake was a winner with crispy edges and chewy batter 😍 the beef was fresh and well seasoned, paired well with their homemade soyabean paste. The cold noodles were perfectly al dente with a refreshing broth, much needed palette cleanser to end the meal. Customer service was on point and the owner was a lovely Korean man who was very helpful with ordering and recommendations. Definitely recommend coming here, good vibes and a good time!…Read More

Overpriced and not good
Golden Branch (成和道)
2023-06-30
The emptiness of the restaurant on a Wednesday night was telling. The broth was over seasoned with star anise, the quality of beef poor and I was given about 10 pieces of bean sprouts. The noodles were lacklustre, stuck together and not chewy. We were asked to order on our phones but unsure as to why this was needed given that they weren’t even busy, 0 customer service. Furthermore, the chef walked out of the restaurant after cooking the pho to have a cigarette outside while talking to his friend. Don’t waste your time and head to the street over for your pho! …Read More

Don’t go
Terrace by LQV
2022-11-06
It was a nice venue with a lovely outdoor terrace. I went when it was newly opened and the food was quite subpar. Ordered a Mediterranean platter which came with dips but no bread/pita. The octopus was all shrivelled and small which for $288 was very overpriced. The tuna on the Niçoise salad was under seasoned, poorly seared and also a small portion. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience for such a nice location. …Read More
