A unique French dining experience
Gaddi's
2021-02-05
Located at one of the most beautiful venues, Gaddi's has always been a favourite dining venue for traditional French cuisine. Upon entering the restaurant, one will be welcomed by a stunningly beautiful setting with warm hospitality. Each table is well spaced, giving privacy and a classy, elegant ambience. A beautiful setting, classicShortly after ordering, we are given a choice of bread with fresh butter and amuse bouche. The bread is warm with a crunchy surface, amuse bouche is light and refreshing with a foam and creamy texture, giving a perfect start of the meal. Amuse bouche and sour dough bread For appetiter, we had French smoked eel with duck foie gras. The smoked eel has a very unique taste, it is seared just perfect, with a firm texture and a strong but subtle flavour. The foie gras is in small cube sizes, making it a perfect small bite. The Celeriac and Corsica Clementine brings a refreshing, sweet taste, perfectly matching with the stronger flavours of the smoked eel and duck foie gras. Anguille Fumée française, Céleri-Rave, Clementine Corse, Foie Gras de Canard For main, we had the Basque Country Pork Belly, with chicory, Comice pear and blue cheese. The combination of the ingredients are just fascinating. The pork belly is cooked to perfection, retaining its juiciness inside, and the crisp outside. The Comice pear brings a sweet and light flavour, and the blue cheese elevated the dish with a naturally aromatic flavour. Poitrine de Porc Noir Basque, Endive, Poire Comice, Bleu d' Auvergne For dessert, we picked two different ones to share. The presentations of both are 'wow'!  The crisp white meringue layer is sweet, complemented by light lemon cream, citrus coulis and a unique Basil sorbet. A very classic French dessert with a light twist.  Pavlova, Creme de Citron, Coulin d'Agrume, Sorbet au Basilic, Meringue Italienne Our second dessert is like a painting. An absolute favourite for chocolate lovers. The dark chocolate mousse is bittersweet, simply love it!  Having matcha ice cream at the side is also an interesting combination, very flavourful. Le Croustillant, Mousse Chocolat 70%, Sucre Petillant, Glace au The Vert Overall, it is an amazing dining experience. From the ambience to the food, it totally lives up the expectation. Will definitely visit again soon. …Read More

Simply an enjoyable and impressive meal
Liberty Private Works
2015-05-07
Located on the 26th floor, the open kitchen offers a relaxing and cosy environment for diners to enjoy their meal. It also provides a lovely outlook of the skyline of Central.  A fixed degustation menu is offered, with ingredients varying depending on the seasonal ingredients and Chef Vicky Cheng's innovation and inspiration.  Highlights of the food: Tuna, Sea urchin, Espelette, RiceThe first course is a signature dish by Liberty Private Works. Beautifully arranged, the tuna tartare and crispy rice is topped with generous portion of creamy sea urchin in the middle, and frozen grape and sweet longon on the sides. The combination is simply perfect. The spiciness of the tuna tartare is greatly balanced with the sweet and fresh sea urchin. The crispy rice also brings an additional texture and flavour. A very refreshing dish indeed. Asparagus, Morel, Snow fungusThe second course  is a light yet flavorful dish. The white asparagus, a seasonal ingredient, is simmered and lightly seasonsed to retain its taste. Compared with the green asparagus, it is slightly milder and more tender. The morel has a slightly more woodsy taste and the snow fungus, which has a lighter taste, blends perfectly with it. Quite a unique dish. Kinmedai, Tomato, KiwiThis dish has a Japanese element in it. The Kinmedai, seared on the side, is undeniably fresh and tender. The cherry tomatoes and radish are marinated and the kiwi sauce brings a sweet anad sour taste that stimulates the taste bud. Egg, Truffle, Parmesan, CaviarAnother signature dish of LPW. This is in fact my favorite dish. The ravioli is wrapped with a runny egg, parmesan, truffle, and generously topped with caviar. The caviar pops on the tongue, with a rich and slightly sweet taste that oozes in the mouth. The whole dish is aromatic and flavorful, with the parmesan being milky and tasteful, and the truffle giving an earthy fragrance and unique flavour to the dish. Impressive indeed. Chicken, Bamboo shoots, Fiddle headsThis is evitably a dish that requires great effort and time. The layers of chicken is nestled together, with the sauce being cooked with chicken bone and sake. The chicken meat is smooth and tender, with the exterior layer being pan-fried perfectly to give a crunchy texture. The sauce is great as it is not too heavy in taste and brings out the original flavour of the chicken.  Lamb, Wheat berry, Black garlicLast savoury dish. This dish is great because of its simpleness. Cooked perfectly medium rare with a soft pink flesh, it retains the juiciness and tenderness. Served alongside is a vegetable puree, with wheat berry and black garlic. The black garlic removes the gaminess of the lamb, and the puree brings a more refreshing and mildness to the dish. Strawberry, Black pepper, Fennel Pollen The first dessert- Strawberry, Black pepper, Fennel Pollen simply looks tempting and appetising. The strawberry is stuffed with marshmallow, and the mochi with condensed milk is soft and chewy. A cute combination. The fennel pollen is also a little 'secret ingredient' that highlighted the dessert as the taste is incredibly unique, and brings a strong aromatic flavor that complemented with the other ingredients in the dessert.Miso, Honey, EdamameThe last course of the day is miso ice cream with honey and edamame. The miso ice cream tastes mild, with a slight saltiness in it. The edamame has a natural freshness and sweetness which matches the miso ice cream. The honey also brings an extra flavor and sweetness to the dish. Indeed, each dish at LPW is unique and inspirational. The ingredients are fresh and seasonal and does not require strong seasoning. The ingredients also match perfectly, complementing each other both in taste and in presentation. It is also a completely different dining experience, being able to enjoy the food while watching the passionate and whole-hearted chef and his team cooking. Simply an enjoyable and impressive meal!  :) …Read More

Light lunch
Cova Ristorante & Caffe
2014-12-04
Walked past Cova Ristorante & Caffe at World Trade Centre and saw that they offer a light lunch set menu from 12-2pm. The set meal includes a choice of sandwich and a hot drink. Had the smoked salmon finger sandwich, which is refreshing and light. The hot chocolate with whipped cream is also creamy, rich and not overly-sweet. A heartwarming drink to have during the cold weather. With such a peaceful and quiet ambience, it is certainly a great place to relax and have a light meal.…Read More

Tivo
2014-12-04
Tivo offers a light lunch menu priced at $108 for a 2 course meal (appetizer + main dish) and $138 for a 3 course meal (appetizer+ main dish + dessert). Really a great deal. Environment- modern and casual, with a quiet and peaceful settingThe restaurant is darkly lit with a modern and casual setting. Table are well spaced and the ambience is quiet and comfortable. A great place to enjoy a peaceful meal in Central. Trio Antipasto- Parma ham, fresh salad, pumpkin pastryThe presentation of this appetiser is great. The parma ham is smooth and lightly-salted. Salad is fresh and seasoned with olive oil. The pumpkin pastry also has a hot crusty exterior and a sweet and smooth interior consisting of chunks of fresh pumpkin. Broccoli soup with cheeseThe hearty soup is creamy and smooth. The cheese melts beautifully in the hot soup, bringing an extra flavor. A truly heartwarming soup to have especially in this cold weather!  Pan-seared snapper with sauteed vegetableThe snapper is pan-seared till it is lightly browned. It is simply seasoned with sea salt and complemented with a refreshing lemon butter sauce. The texture of the fish is smooth and soft and tastes succulent fresh. Generous serving of the sauteed vegetable also brings a freshness to the dish. A very balanced and healthy dish indeed. Grilled steak with mashed potato Ordered the grilled steak medium-rare. The meat is thinly cut and grilled perfectly. It is warm through the middle with a hint of red. The steak is tender and juicy, with a very meaty gravy that complemented the steak. The grilled tomatoes are also juicy and appetising, bringing a freshness to the dish. The mashed potato is blended with warmed butter and milk to create a rich and creamy texture. A great and filling side dish that goes well with the main. Overall, it was a really satisfying meal. The ambience is great and the quality of the food is above standard. Service is also friendly and efficient. Would definitely visit this place again. …Read More

Holly Brown
2014-11-26
Holly Brown is a great place to relax and have a light lunch. :)Mocha-The mocha in Holly Brown is always my favorite. It's not overly-sweet and has a good balance between the aromatic smell of chocolate and expresso. The drink is also smooth and creamy. A nice warm drink to have indeed. Also had the dried tomato chicken panini for lunch. It is nicely toasted, with a slightly crispy exterior. The panini is generously filled with sliced chicken and dried tomato, which is very appetising and refreshing. A light choice for lunch! :)…Read More

Pleasing lunch
Shiro
2014-11-26
Shiro has quite a pleasant and quiet setting. The lunch menu offers a wide range of choices including grilled fish, tempura, sashimi, sushi, bento etc. Shiro signature ramen-Had the Shiro signature ramen, which includes half-boiled egg, char-siu pork, seaweed and vegetable. The pork broth has a very rich and creamy flavor, with a slight spiciness, which brings a good balance.Seafood bento-The seafood bento is satisfying. It includes grilled scallop, soft-shell crab and prawn tempura and grilled mackerel.  The scallop is grilled with a sweet mushroom sauce, bringing great flavour. The tempura is made-to-order, with a very hot and crispy exterior and a soft and warm interior. The grilled mackerel is also lightly seasoned with salt and fresh. It was a pleasing meal as the quality of the food and the service are quite good.…Read More

不錯的拉麵店
Ippudo HK (Silvercord Tower)
2014-11-09
Read More

Great brunch to start the day
BRICK LANE (中信大廈)
2014-11-09
Bricklane is a lovely place for brunch. The restaurant is cosy with great ambience.  Arrived at 11am, and was not too packed. Ordered the Smoked salmon bagel and Classic egg benedict. Both dishes are nicely presented, with fresh salad at the side. Smoked salmon bagel- Scottish salmon/ Cream cheese/ Plain bagelThe scottish salmon is succulent fresh and delicately flavoured. And the cream cheese complemented the bagel well. However, the bagel is slightly dry as the moisture of the bread is not sealed in after heating. The fries is fried till golden and extremely hot and crispy. Classic Egg benedict- Gammon ham/ 2 poached eggs/ English muffin, Hollandaise sauceRecommend the Classic Egg Benedict. Topped with beautifully poached eggs and tender ham, the muffin is nicely toasted and drizzled with generous serving of the magical hollandaise sauce. Buttery and creamy, the hollandaise sauce is simply a highlight of the dish. Impressive. Would recommend this place for a delightful brunch at the weekend! …Read More

L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon
2014-11-08
Awarded three Michelin stars for three consecutive years, L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon offers a contemporary fine-dining experience that is not to be missed. The circular bar envelops the open kitchen, allowing diners to witness the different aspects of cooking, from the preparation of the cuisine to the plating of the dishes. The whole surrounding is vibrant and modern, and the seats are well-spaced, giving full comfort to diners. Amuse bouche Lobster mousse and avocado rollThe lobster mousse is simply flavourful. The mousse is creamy and sweet and the avocado roll is refreshing and appetising. Bread basketA full range of bread including apricot and walnut soft bread, mini croissant, plain baguette, bacon baguette is served. The bread are simply delicious and heartwarming. Especially love the apricot bread, which is so soft and aromatic. LE MAIS Chilled sweet corn "veloute" with fine beef jellyVery nicely done. The soup was presented like a fine art. The fine beef jelly centred the bowl, which is simply the essence of the soup. Topped with pop corns, the soup is smooth and creamy with a crunchiness. There is a hint of spiciness in the soup, which makes this chilled soup very appetising and flavorsome. LE HARICOT PAIMPOL French Paimpol white beans salad with celery, foie gras roll and "Iberico" camThe French Paimpol white beans is tender and soft. The foie gras roll has a creamy texture and simply melts in the mouth. The celery and mimosa also brings a freshness to the dish. LES SPAGHETTIS Maine lobster spaghettis and coral emulsionMaine lobster is renowned for its quality and flavor. The lobster is cooked perfectly, leaving the meat tender and juicy. The spaghettis is cooked al-dente and the coral emulsion complemented the dish, bringing full flavor. LE BLACK COD Caramelized black cod with Malabar black pepper sauce, Chinese cabbage and coconut emulsionThis dish is simply perfect. The black codfish is moist, tender and succulent fresh. The fish is caramelized, bringing a slight sweetness to the dish. The coconut emulsion also brings an extra flavor to the dish, which is unique and deep in flavor. Cappucino, accompanied with darkened caramel sauceThis beautiful cup of cappuccino has a perfect foam that gives a warm and comforting feeling. It is also accompanied with a darkened caramel sauce, making this drink unlike the normal cappuccino one would have.  LA BANANE Smooth banana cream with caramel chips and tropical fruits sorbetThis dessert is remarkably good. It has three elements- the caramel crunch at the bottom, the passion fruit sorbet at the middle, and a smooth banana cream on the top. The three elements go together perfectly. The crunchiness of the caramel chips, along with the sweetness of the sorbet and the creamy texture of the banana cream brings the dessert to a complete new level.  LA POIRE Cinnamon pear compote with caramel ice creamThe pear is nicely cooked with cinnamon, retaining the juiciness and tenderness of the pear. The caramel ice cream complemented the cinnamon pear well, bringing a good balance of the sweetness of the ice cream and the fruitiness of the pear. A very refreshing and memorable dessert indeed. Petite fourThe meal ended with the petite four. The madeleine is spongy and light, with a hint of almond flavor. The macaron has a crunchy exterior and a creamy interior, very nice indeed. The orange candy and dark pearl chocolate is also a delightful treat. 不錯的日本料理
Gonpachi

…Read More

The dessert at Le Salon De The de Joel Robuchon is definitely one that one would not want to miss! Each is delicate and beautifully-made. Honey Creme

Honey Creme is conveniently located at Lee Garden Road in Causeway Bay. The place was very packed, but service was quick, so I was able to get my honey comb soft cream in a short time! The portion of the honey comb is just right, and it complements well with the soft cream. The honey comb is chewy and sweet. I love the texture. And the ice cream is so smooth and creamy. It's definitely worth a try!…Read More
