Every Sushi bite, melts your month!
SUSHI YOROKOBU
2019-01-11
Sushi Yorokobu is a place you feel so rewarding yourself after enjoying a very quality sushi lunch with your friends there.  It is new, just opened few month in a nice building on Jardine's Bazaar in Causeway Bay.  Actually, we have been following the star level Chef, Tango from one another place since few years from elsewhere.  We are addicted by his handcrafted & tasty sushi since then.  Just can't tell how we love seeing the Chef, Tango preparing every single food for us, who is  attentive and always keeping the high standard, cooked and executed the food with his whole-hearted, dedicated Japanese technique, flavour and flair for our every sushi bite. The lunch sushi price is half of Omakase dinner, still the sushi quality is highly delicate and fresh and prepare with utmost care and perfection.  Of course we will come back, and  highly recommend this place to people. If you are enjoying a day of shopping in Causeway Bay.   Check it out, reservation is required coz it is always full.   I am  100% sure you will not be disappointed and truly it will be brighten your day after having the tasty sushi there.   Every detail is fabulous, it makes you feel like eating fresh sushi in top-notch restaurant in Japan!…Read More

Breathtaking Views , friendly staff
Thai Dao
2018-10-19
If the weather is good, must choose sitting outside.  We love the breathtaking views from this restaurant's terrace which is  just a beginning. Staff is helpful, attending and pleasant - with a smile.  Causal dinning in Sai Kung area, quiet with breeze, and great food! We had pomelo salad and then lemongrass shrimp. Both fairly large portions (so so good we come of 4 people) and taste absolutely great, loved it!We tried their excellent stir-fried tofu with basil leaves, very good stir-fried morning glory Thai style and the good Thai flat fried noodles with wine and pork. For drinks a few glasses of their excellent pick Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand with stellar price. Still the same wonderful ambience and setting overlooking the bay and myriad islands, romantic lighting under the decent tent, with very good food. It appears that the adjoining section of this place is still called the Beach Club Café, and we so much appreciated all the nice outdoor decor make-over are new that re-set up nicely after the typhoon destroy....We hope to come back soon! …Read More

Good vibe on Peel Street!
Chi Chi Cham
2018-10-19
The restaurant is located in Central area, near Lan Kwai Fong  on Peel Street!  Staff are very energetic, international, nice and helpful, we arrived at 6pm and enjoyed the happy hour offer of $10 each Asahi Beer which is great, i think it is special only on Wednesday!!We liked the really interesting décor, awesome atmosphere and creative Chinese costumes on walls and decorated umbrellas covering roof.  Food is all at very reasonably priced with small bites and main courses. Their signature cocktail is very good! I love it! Some of the barbecue dishesare delicious (Must try): Okra, Zucchini and Japanese Leek & Tofu. Although the price is a little- bit valuable, staffs are very friendly and enthusiastic. It is worth to try once!.Again we love the good street vibe on Peel Street so people stand around from all small bars and cafes. At end of street is a fascinating Buddhist temple with dozens of smoke rings burning and offerings. Chi Chi Cham is the best place to eat sushi and bbq Japanese food and drinking in Central. We will come back soon! …Read More

Best Boat Noodle, Worst Thai service ever
Samsen 泰麵
2018-10-19
We heard a lot of good things re the boat noodle & food there, and learn that it is always busy and so we went on Wednesday night, thought it should be ok... but the queue was still long when we arrived at 7pm and we were told the wait would be 1 hour.  Also, the meter parking space was also not easy in the Wanchai backstreet .... and truly overall experience at the start point was very bad i....  Particularly we experienced the guy who manages the queue of waiting people is really rude and impatiently for his job.   Since we were told 1-hour wait, so we went to somewhere around for a drink and then just half an hour later- we received a call to tell the table is ready for us, then I was in a good mood /tone in a drink and told him we are eating a small bite and will come back soon but couldn't be right away coz the time is much quicker than as expected. Then the guy said it in rude manner on the phone like" then the table will be gone soon" without any understanding like we are begging to dine at this restaurant. The truth is that no matter how popular is this restaurant, we are the customer and willing to wait for an hour for appreciating good food that shouldn't be treated like this. :( I think the owner should monitor the service level to maintain the return customer....Back to the menu, it  is quite simple and the kitchen is pretty efficient, the turnover is quick, also you can sit long in terms of set up and packed space. We ordered the wagyu beef boat noodles and the fried morning glory, Thai watercress vegetable, also the Omelette those are very yummy.  Truly premium quality beef,  it melts in our mouth. The flat noodles were chewy which is great and never could taste it in HK.  Even drinking the Thai iced tea  reminds me like dinning in Bangkok street , enjoying the very delicious local best tasty street food and boat noodle! In a nutshell, food is excellent, service is bad and perhaps it   be compared with the friendly Thai people in Thailand even I trust the restaurant serving team is originally from Thailand which is a shame that they couldn't maintain the good attitude when working in HK....…Read More

Fantastic Tapas on Ship Street!
22 Ships
2018-09-27
We go to 22 ships almost every 2 month or whenever I am in Wanchai district, I would think of this restaurant, just really miss the fantastic tapas there.  The place is not big but cozy, good vibe, no reservations which is always full of people.  We felt lucky that we had only to wait 5min at 8pm on Wed night. We enjoy sitting at the open bar area!  Looking at the energetic staff  preparing the tapas is great, they are warming and very focus on doing good on their job.  If we initiate a conversation, they would respond welcomingly on introducing the variety of Tapas.  We ordered 4 tapas this time, enough for our stomach as pre-dinner drink and small bites coz the portion is small.  As usual, very yummy ~ The fried squid with squid ink mayo was our first try,  it is nice and fried very crispy,  the portion could have been a bit larger though.  Scallop Ceviche is on our must try checklist, we can't skip it at all, as It is very fresh taste, of course it is always plated in a contemporary fine dine style, superb taste!  For drink, no doubt Red Sangria is our choice, and the wine list is also interesting!!! It is a little pricy tapas in terms of the small portion, just truly it is the best tapas place in Hong Kong. We suggest it to people who appreciate good fine quality food.  We will come back soon!…Read More

Best Pho in HK
Pho Le
2018-09-17
It used to be a long line up since it opened, so to avoid the crowds and to try this famous Vietnamese pho place at East Point City Mall that we finally chose the non-peak time to go this time at noon, 12pm, without waiting that we were arranged to sit at the bar high chair table.  Yea sort of shared place with others as a fast food dinning experience. We ordered the popular the signature deluxe pho with mixed rare & well done beef, meat balls and beef chunks etc.  The pho noodle portion is not big, just the noodle itself is thinly cut and tasting so smooth! The noodle soup is slight brown coloured, is very yummy.  We followed the suggestions of the steps and taste the soup at first. It is good! The beef ball is so surprisingly delicious that is not easy to find from elsewhere, just the beef chunk portion is bit too big for chewing as it is tough.  I think it could be cut smaller pieces and cooked more tender for improving the overall taste. The garlic-butter chicken wings is fried with very crispy skin, but it is quite oily on the surface, also i can't really taste the chicken meat favour at all which is like taste-less.  So i think the chicken wings is only acceptable.  We will rather try out another snack side dishes next time. The restaurant hast its long history in Vietnam and the popular pho recipe that the original restaurant developed. I noticed many customers also ordered the same signature pho dish. I do miss the Pho taste, and am sure we will come back for the rare Beef Pho soon again, and so give it high rating for its Pho!…Read More

Best South East Asia Lunch in Soho
MAMA SAN by Will Meyrick
2018-09-11
If I have to think of a good place for taking my foreign colleagues or friends for trying out South EastAsia lunch in Central, I would naturally have MamaSan in mind.   It is always under nice atmosphere and it never remind us  in busy Central district, staff are patient and good! Such an enjoyable chill-out lunch place on weekdays.Loved the twist of westernised SEA great food, mild spicy taste!  Important thing is that , we could enjoy a glass of good white wine at lunch! We love the food style & this restaurant cultural decor , and also liked to sit by the window high table with the view of the artistic Wyndham street in Soho district!  Worth to visit indeed ! I recommend the minced chicken as part of their lunch set menu. I had Lemongrass Penacota dessert and that was divine! We have a plan to take other friends come to Mamasan for dinner soon next week! …Read More

Quiet place with good atmosphere for lunch!
Town
2018-09-11
A friend booked this place lunch with me on a weekday at Causeway Bay, we aim for a decent lunch place with nice atmosphere for a lady chat, and it was an excellent choice! The place is simply quiet even during peak lunch hour, that we had it between 12:30 till 2:30pm.  At all time, the service was very attentive and perhaps it was not full. We were arranged at the window seat, bright with day light! :)We ordered lunch set at around $200+/per set (after service charge nearly $300 per head),  it includes the buffet starter, with various of choices and those are vey fresh-made.  No queue up at the buffet bar of course, no rush dinning experience that we could do it slowly and enjoyed the selection of food and still chit-chat for the whole time dinning  experience. It's a smart choice for lunch with your friends, good location in Causeway Bay, as well as service is excellent as well.  I heard it also serves chef menu tasting dinner , trust the food is more creative by the Chef.  We looking forward to come back soon and meet the Chef Bryan!…Read More

Good Value for Money!
Shin Mapo BBQ (East Point City)
2018-09-11
I come for dinner at this Korean BBQ restaurant quite often since it opened, normally we order the set meal with unlimited served side dishes.  We feel the food is overall decent considering for the price we paid that is truly good value for money.  Spicy Pork Belly & Marinated beef prime rib are our favour main dishes! The place is now less packed with line-up customer compared when it was new.  We appreciated the staff always tries their best to serve us a nice corner table, or at the booth area that give us having better comfortable dinning experience when possible.Just for our latest visits, we found it the main grill BBQ food portion become smaller, and we were being told most of the yummy side dishes are being sold out after one time order, we were disappointed for non-refill availability on some of our favour options. The kimchee and served lettuce are super fresh as usual that maintained good standard. :)We will come back soon, just hope the staff keep up, and the food quality will remain the standard and not cutting portion further.…Read More

Cute Izakaya place for sea urchin lovers!
S2 Kitchen
2018-08-22
It is a really cute Izakaya place located in Central, in the middle of busy street intersection of Pottinger & Wellington Street!  Dishes are incredibly fresh & inventive, as well as the taste is incredibly yummy , and is great good idea to take friends or colleagues chill out after work with Sake & yummy food! When I first visited this place last time was 2 months ago, i loved it.  This time, I am taking my friend, who is a big fan of sea Urchin!  Truly he also liked the place which is cozy with cultural deco Japanese & HK local icon set up.  We tried the signature dish "Sea Urchin Cup" with 10 layers of different tastes, of course lots of Uni, smooth & fresh. Also we tried other very innovative Uni dishes; One of their another signature dishes is a roll of imitation crab meat slobbered in mayonnaise on a heated platter - it is truly hideous.Cheese fish cake, there was melty cheese inside. The texture was soft and chewy and stomach-filling. Baked oyster with sea urchin, The oyster was juicy with the cheese and sea urchin and fish roe , very delicious.I loved the scallop with urchin and avocado salad , which is perfect combination of Taste in mouth, very fresh & soft scallop & smooth Uni.Abalone and chicken wing: This was new to me, the chef stuffed the abalone with the chicken wing. There were two different types of texture;  The flavour was quite different as I could taste chicken flavour while eating the abalone.  Very creative dish!Dessert: Urchin ice cream:  After eating so many urchin, but we still want urchin again and so ordered sea urchin ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was smooth home-made type  and had bits of urchin crumbs within. Of course a fresh taste of urchin is on the top!We will come back soon! …Read More

Just so-so
Yè Shanghai
2018-08-20
I used to come to this restaurant a lot few years ago, when I was working in TST district.  Coz I loved the vibes there which is quite classy, so I liked to task Foreign friends to taste the Chinese food at Ye Shanghai. However,  I was so  disappointed recommending  new friends to go this restaurant lately  . The food quality and staff service is just so-so.  First, it was a busy FRIDAY evening,  was full house and the table was set really packed to each other.    Good thing is the Shanghai Dumpling taste good and the skin is thin enough.  But the wine chicken is great ..... not freezing cold just the right temperature. Many Shanghai restaurants serve this dish over cold and the chicken is hard too but not here anymoreThe price is not  fair base on the quality of the food and environment. Also this is a place inside the hotel, that should be maintained a good standard and shouldn't be declining on  overall standard.  The server is just ok and need more attention with the customer. …Read More

Best Spicy Hot Pot
Spicy Spirit
2018-08-19
I am so glad ~a decent spicy Taiwanese style hot pot is finally in HK, and trust me this is one of the top Hot Pot restaurants in terms of favour and dinning experience. The set up from small to large table, it makes you feel having privacy which is not easy find in HK for Hot Pot dinner. The key is in the signature base - the spicy one. The layers of flavour and depth of spice is, honestly, addicting.  The soup base is kept very spicy- almost boiling - on the table, the infused flavors resulting are something you will not soon forget!  Must order the "Duck Blood Jelly" which is the best, and you can't find it from other place in HK with such original taste!Reservations are required.  The light is bit dark there, and the music is good.  The soup base is only shared with 2-3 people, is unlike a big one set in the middle of table.  It is a traditional Taiwanese & westernized fusion place. If you look for traditional Cantonese hot spot dinning set up, it is not the place you wanted.  For me, I love it, the food, the vibe, and the set up makes everything is perfect! I will come back soon, and it is addictive indeed.…Read More

Juicy Beef Japanese BBQ
Beefar's 鹿兒島燒肉
2018-08-19
I was asking my friend where is to go for eating really good Japanese BBQ beef, then she told me I should try Beefar's in  TST just few steps next to MTR exit, and yes it is really impressed by the beef meat selection.   It tastes so good and juicy.  We chose the chef recommendation (different beef portion) set meal for 4 pax, the portion is good and so then we added some vegetable dishes for BBQ grill as well. So even you have friends is vegetarian or not 100% meat lover that you can still can go for this restaurant coz it offers variety of green options as well! Please do not miss the  Beef Uni Sushi, it is melty fresh mouth watering try!!  Reservation is recommended, if you have a group of 4+ pax, you may try to pre-book the semi-private room which is even nicer and quieter dinning experience! The restaurant has a nice ambiance and service is good. The Manager was very attentive to our group of 5. Highly recommend to anyone who love Japanese Beef BBQ! …Read More

Lively dinning experience for Omakase
一慶
2018-08-18
We are group of 7 having Omakase there on my birthday, it is around $2000 per head dinner and we can bring our own Sake. The restaurant is a small place and so is very good for small group like below 10 for private party. It indeed serves very decent Japanese Omakase! The food is so fresh from Japan, you would love it and  the taste is truly top class. Quality and freshness are excellent and the natural flavors just strikingly shine thru. Pretty creative and original too.Akie & Kazu San are very friendly yet professional and attentive, they made the wholes dinning experience very lively!Memorable dinner.…Read More

Trendy Atmosphere
Chachawan (荷李活道)
2018-08-18
I have eaten there for few times - food is consistently yummy, and it is always busy.  Good thing is that it also opens on Sunday even located in Central district.  Truly although the wait is long, but is always the best Thai food for me in HK. This time we sat at the kitchen bar and see cooks preparing your meal.  The food is quite Hot and so you can ask less spicy.  Must try the skewer, very delicious.  Love the trendy atmosphere with locals and foreign people.  Hot recommendations especially for Foreign people!! …Read More
