Lil' Siam
2012-12-16
CRS REVIEW SERVICES has trawled the gastronomic ghettos of Hong Kong to bring you the definitive , unbiased and trustworthy guide to the smorgasbord and cornucopia of anmbrosia that HK has to offer.Lil Siam74/100Grade: BFood 34/50Service 18/25Ambience 22/25Food:The food was, in a nutshell, good. The curry was a bit too sweet but the succulent, juicy duck was of a supreme quality .Pricing was fairly fair, though verging on the expensive side. The salad was savory as was the pad Thai, wrapped in an omelette. Vegetables were a bit too salty and reminded me to much of oxo beef cubes and knox chicken flavoring.Service:The waiters appeared to be brain dead zombies, they did not appear to realize that sparkling water with ice means... Sparkling water with ice. Ah well. Ambience:Very nice. Very homely cosy feel of a cafe, an atmosphere slightly marred by the two pictures of the king of Thailand, ostentatiously fitted in ornate frames hung on the walls…Read More

CRS REVIEW SERVICESFSAP Grade: 95/100 A*Food: 49/50The food was simply phenomenal. We all had lobster bisque and roast beef which came with complementary desserts. the beef was tender juicy and like ambrosia. lobster bisque had a brisk seafood taste.Service: 20/20Service was great. staff were friendly and kind, and flexible with orders in removing cream etc... Ambience: 19/20Ambience is perfect. We sat next to a window in a timeless setting looking out to hong kong cityPrice: 7/10 You pay what you get for.…Read More

CRS REVIEW SERVICES FSAP Grade: 92/100 A*Food: 48/50This restaurant offers classical british fare and has been operating for decades. The people behind CRS have been coming here for generations, and the restaurant's pub food mixed with international cuisine is a must have. Try the world famous chicken a la king, all go for the sunday prime rib, the lamb madras, or the fried mushrooms. Sincerely, this place is the most cozy place to have english food. a must try!! be a part of hong kong legends!Service: 20/20Impeccable. From the bread lady to the genial manager, you will feel so at home, as they smile and crack jokes with you, all the while suggesting menu items and just making you comfortable.Ambience: 16/20The pub feel of this place really feels like a bar in England, and its sheltered nook underground makes you feel like you are in a secret, timeless place. Going back to Hong Kong central after JK is quite startling!Price: 8/10 The price is well worth it.…Read More

CRS REVIEW SERVICESFSAP Grade: 31/100 E-Food: 10/50CRS tries to be as unbiased as possible, yet this restaurant truly deserves the dread 20% rating in the food section. Steak was extremely expensive, yet inedible, as pretty much all of it was composed of fat with a blob of meat in the middle. Disappointing. Another disappointment would be the eggs benedict, which loosely resembled mashed up salmon on sourdough bread. Very disappointingService: 8/20Despite being the only ones there- it was very early in the morning- food came extremely late. Perhaps they should switch the waiters with robots- despite being inanimate these creatings would get the job done better.Ambience: 9/10. a very cosy and warm ambience with a panoramic view of the harbour. Certainly what you want to peek out at in the morning.Price: 2/10The aforementioned beef was extremely expensive! going to a local char chan tent for beef would be better!!!…Read More

Simplylife Bread & Wine
2012-08-27
CRS REVIEW SERVICESFSAP Grade: 72/100 B-Food: 35/50A supposed haven of epicurean delights, Simply life instead constantly disappoints. Of course its prime location in the central hub of Hong Kong- IFC- guarantees a certain standard of quality, though for a restaurant of a supposedly good calibre the quality of its food is not acceptable. Multiple burgers were had by our group as well as fish and chips. The beer battered fish appeared to have been steamed instead of fried, such was the sogginess of its outer layer. Burger buns did not assimilate well with the meat, and the adjacently placed french fries were oil drenched and nausea inducing. One almost wishes that the previous canteen restaurant was still there. I know i do.Service; 13/20Service is average, yet their constant neglect and forgetfulness to bring us drinks- to put it in layman's term- pissed us off to no end.Ambience: 16/20Even with a panoramic view looking out to the harbour one would expect that the ambience would follow suit with the food and service and be exceedingly horrible, yet it impressed us with being well lit and casual. Its marble and poshness was a bit too grandiose even for our liking, but it was still a reasonably pleasant environment to be in.Price: 8/10Despite its prime location in IFC the price is reasonable and not expensive, yet for the price we pay, we would expect a bette quality of food. CRS' 8/10 is an encouragement and motivation to whoever that is associated with the restaurant reads this in the hope that they continue to strive to create better food and not food that one would not find out of place in a boarding school in England.…Read More

Lei Garden (ifc mall)
2012-08-27
CRS REVIEW SERVICES: FSAP Grade: 81/100 A-Food: 47/50The food was very good, well worth the two michelin stars. Char siu was tender, juicy and succulent, whilst other assorted dim sums such as cheung fan har gau siu mai and others were tasty and fresh, one could not detect any msg. The restaurant also offers other food such as rice, spring rolls, and mostly traditionally chinese fare such as chicken feet. Service: 10/20For a michelin star restaurant the service was very bad. They got out name wrong in the reservation and even forgot to bring us some food. The food however came quick, and this experience is slightly odd as it is different to the previous times we went to lei garden, so it is possible just a one off. Still we expected a lot more, as the waitress was also rude and stroppy.Ambience: 17/20 The ambience was very nice. We got out own private room in 'Hong Kong Room' as we were a large party, and the whole place was nice and secluded, a relaxing place dim sum and talking.Price: 7/10: Although the food is worth it, the price did not merit such a bad service. The reason i have still given a relatively good 7 points is in hope that it was just a one off.…Read More

Le Salon De Thé de Joël Robuchon

CRS REVIEW SERVICESFSAP Grade: 72/100 B-Food: 45/50The menu is hardly abundant, but offers interesting french combinations to tempt the palatte. Creamy spaghetti is al dente, and burgers are succulent and juicy. Expensive wines are offered.Service: 12/20 Clueless and sluggish, the waiters and waitresses seem to resent not working at the restaurant upstairs, despite the cafe being smallAmbience: 6/10 Its ok as long as ure seated outside and not allocated a table near the edge.Price: 9/10 Its worth the price.…Read More

Shiro

THIS IS CRS REVIEW SERVICES.FSAP Grade: 80/100 A-Food: 45/50We had the noodle set which came with tonkotsu ramen, tempura, wagyu beef and dumplings all for the slightly suspiciously cheap price of 120HKD (which we later found due to be an 'early bird' discount)Service: 10/20: Despite being loyal customers (we went to shiro in Pacific Place before they relocated) and being the only booked table, we were not given a table until 20 mins later (because we complained). Then, they made sure they were extra nice in making sure the food came quick. However, the damage was done, and we were especially disappointed, because despite being very apologetic, they did not deduct anything on the bill for our inconvenience.Ambience: 15/20 The restaurant was spacious and induced a pure atmosphere, its serenity only shattered by the incessant chatter that signified HK's lunch rush.Price: 10/10 Cheap, but it will soon go up.…Read More

Grand Hyatt Steakhouse

WELCOME TO CRS, your local authoritative culinary guide. We aim to provide the public with unbiased quality ensured reviews.FSAP Grade: A*91/100Food: 48/50: The food was excellent. Various cuts of succulent beef were offered with a myriad of sauces complemented with abundant sides. We had strip loins ranging from 6OZ to 10OZ with sides of truffle french fries, salads, and creamed corn. The smorgasbord of food went well with wine and soft drinks. The meat was tender and soft.Service: 17/20 Patrons are greeted by a receptionist who then takes you up via a lift. Booking is essential as this restaurant is always very popular. Staff were courteous and helpful. They had lots of knowledge about the menu and were quick to suggest items. Food was delivered on time and very fastAmbience: 9/10 This restaurant is a sit down smart attire affair. The restaurant was cozy and had the typical american steakhouse feel which, with artfully designed dim light, induced an impression of luxury.Price: 7/10: Be prepared to pay. Its worth it though for special celebrations.…Read More
