Bibim-Bahp - The popular Korean dish
School Food
2018-04-20
School Food is a restaurant just right below my office, so I would come here from time to time. They got lots of choices on the menu, I could definitely pick something I like. The environment was quite busy, fortunately the servers were able to meet the standard. I ordered a lunch set, Beef and Seasonal Ham Bibim-Bahp with cheese (HKD 75), and also a soup (additional of HKD10) and hot lemon water. Bibim-Bahp is a super popular Korea dish of rice mixed with veggies, meat, egg and chili pepper paste. The different ingredients aren’t random, they’re chosen because they balance, harmonize, and offset each other. There were actually not a lot of beef in this plate, the ratio of beef to ham was 1:4, but I love the cheese so in general it tasted delicious. It was a right choice to order the soup because the appetizer from set were just two pcs of tofu, adding HKD10 for this soup would have some extra veggies to the lunch.…Read More

From Regular to XXL
Fûhn (The L. Square)
2018-04-03
Heard that the owner of this restaurant is from Vancouver, personally as a Canadian I was keen to come here to tryout their food. There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver and they are known to be delicious. Therefore I did have some expectations for this restaurant. The menu was straight forward, and the noodles were available in three sizes and that's something cool. For me I chose the regular size. The noodles soup base was a bit too salty for me, the thinly sliced beef was meltingly tender and the portion was large comparing to other restaurants. We also ordered another snack platter with fried springroll, shrimp cake and chicken wings. Unfortunately the taste was less than even average, the springrolls were cold and chicken wings were almost no taste but starch. The restaurant was crowded and lots of people waiting for seats. Prices were reasonable on the menu but I hope they will do some fine tuning with the food.…Read More

Girls Night Out
Fleur de Sel
2018-02-28
Friday girls night looking for a place to chill after dinner, and we stumbled upon this place. This restaurant is located in a really creepy old building but once you step in the restaurant, the atmosphere is very cozy and parisian. We ordered 1 savory crepe and 2 dessert crepes. The crepes were filling and tasty. The savory crepe tasted more crispy than the rest. The waitress was really pleasant, helpful and exceeded my standard. This place is a neighborhood treasure for dessert lovers hanging out in Causeway Bay.…Read More

A Quick Lunch
Yuen Hing Restaurant
2018-02-22
Siu Mei (Roast Meat) is a popular food in Hong Kong. I eat it for lunch at least once a week. This restaurant serves drink boxes only, so if you are looking for some classic fresh lemon tea or milk tea, this isn’t the place for you. The reason we came here was definitely the ‘char siu’, I ordered chai siu with another type of roasted pig ‘siu yuk’. The siu yuk has surprisingly crispy skin, perfect ratio of meat and fat. The cha siu is marinated in a honey BBQ sauce, I tasted a lot of sweetness from the glaze. Although the meat was great, the portion of sauce is a bit of a let down, there was barely sauce in the rice as you can see from the pic.…Read More

Food with Sunshine
Goobne Chicken (V Point)
2018-02-21
It was the forth day of cny and we were just checking openrice to see which restaurant is opened. And we found this newly opened Korean restaurant at V-point. V-point was built not long ago and I’ve tried several restaurants already. I didn’t know there’s one at the top at all.Once we stepped in, lots of sunlight shining through large windows, a very comfortable atmosphere, some windows even had sea views. It was around tea time, we were not very hungry so we ordered a chicken dish, egg rolls, a jar of cocktail and another mocktail. There were a lot of empty tables around us, so basically it was like a private event for us.The chicken was baked with honey curry sauce, the chicken was tender, juicy and with skin, and such a perfect match with cheese underneath. It was delicious at the same time fattening! The egg roll was a bit light in taste for me, not salty or sweet at all. The drinks were as good as they look. The cocktail wasn't strong, perfect for ladies. …Read More

Balinese Dinning Experience
TRi
2018-02-15
Last week one of my frd was able to drive us to some place nice for dinner. After we discussed we decided to go this Balinese restaurant at Repulse Bay. This restaurant is located at ‘The Pulse’ , a dog & kid friendly complex which has a lot of nice restaurants and shops. The interior of this restaurant is hip and elegant, must have spent quite a lot to have this designed. The atmosphere was kind of dark, maybe romantic is a better word. I would say it’s a good place for anniversary or valentine’s day. We had 4 people and they gave us long table instead, more than we needed, and later knew someone else would be sharing the table with us. Too bad they couldn’t offer us those little cute booth because they required a minimum order price. The menu looked varied and interesting. The starters were creative and enjoyable. Both the salad and the softshell crab tasted special with their Balinese sauce. The lobster noodles was very addictive, the lobster was juicy & fresh , the noodles were handmade, on point with a bit of spicey flavor. The food got nice plating , just like art. The price was high than expected and the portion was pretty small but that’s ok because of the ambiance and experience.…Read More

Waffle Birthday Cake
La Postre (永樂街)
2018-02-13
This restaurant has always been our first choice for our team birthday celebration. It’s always full so we must book ahead. We ordered set lunches to share,  avocado pasta, lobster pasta,  squid salad and a waffle. The pasta is very rich and creamy and the waffle tasted nice and crispy.  The waiter/waitress were extremely friendly, and was able to provide candle to put on the waffle. It's quite a good deal for its location, food & service. The book for this restaurant is always full, especially around festival eve and no walk-ins. So make sure you call ahead of time. Even though I have been relocated recently, I still miss this restaurant from time to time.…Read More

Everything Stays The Same
Coffee Alley
2018-02-13
My friend and I were looking for places to eat just before the movie. And we walked pass this place, during 3ish this restaurant was already crowded. It was not my first time here, my previous time here was around 6 years ago, everything looked and tasted the same. I do feel the interior has to be fixed and updated because it influences a customer’s experience. I ordered a club sandwich and fruit tea, the sandwich tasted average and the tea tasted too sweet, same as before. I think for the amount of price they charge, I expect something more, at least improve ‘something’. I don’t expect everything stays the same for so many years. I do believe this café has to keep up in order to survive. There are many other choices of Taiwan café in Causeway Bay anyways, you get what I mean.…Read More

My Cup Of Tea (Wing Hing Building)
2018-02-12
Milk tea ‘Nai Cha’奶茶is made from black tea, milk and sugar, and it’s important part of HK culture. As a milk tea fan, I have been looking forward to this shop since I’ve read of this over the news. This shop is run by the Milk Tea King Mr. Law, who had won the championship of milk tea competition several years ago.Their selling point is ofcourse milk tea, and all drinks are made instantly by the Milk tea King., standing at the front of the shop showing off his skills. The atmosphere is quite modern and as well as the cup design! There were a lot of people waiting but I only had to wait about 3 minutes. It’s quick compare to those other bubble tea shops. Service was great, friendly. The milk tea is smooth, not strong (no bitter taste  and no trouble sleeping, haha)perfect creaminess and perfect ratio of sugar as well. I really recommend this place, and hope they launch another shop soon.…Read More

High Quality Standing Sushi Bar
Sushi Tachi (Cameron Plaza)
2018-02-12
Standing sushi bar is not something new and has been quite popular in Japan. I think it’s suitable to HK culture since HK is a busy city and people are always looking for a quick bite. It took me around 10 mins of waiting and the space outside this restaurant is quite limited , so I suggest go earlier before your meal if possible. The atmosphere is down to earth and the prices are very reasonable for its quality. All of the food I ate are fresh, satisfyingly and fatty. Make sure to try the scallops sushi and the fat tuna. Uni sushi tastes excellent as well and stock tends to run low especially the ones written on the board, I think they are like ‘sushi of the day’. Service is great and the lady offered me a bag to put my clutch since it has no strap and not able to put on the hook, she also reminded me repeatedly that there’s hot water to fill, to me that’s pretty nice and attentive. I would definitely re-visit this tiny cute shop instead of those sushi chain restaurants for my sushi cravings.…Read More

甜品老媽喺天后開分店!
Dessert Loma
