Great Australian Meat tasting dinner
Hue Dining
2024-03-07
Our group of 5 came here to specifically try the NSW tasting menu. We had a very enjoyable meal, and portion sizes were not too big so I comfortably ate all 5 courses. In summary this was a well designed tasting menu and highly recommended. We started with a generous slice of sourdough each, with smoked whipped butter. The first course was Magra lamb, with butternut squash and macadamia salsa. The lamb was very tender and specifically bread to be less gamey. This was my favourite dish.Second course was Ox Cheek Sacchetti. It is served like above, and then they pour the onion consommé immediately upon serving (below)I really enjoyed the ox cheek served this way, the consommé was tasty and complimented the ox cheek well. The third course was Angus Striploin served with butternut pumpkin and sweet potato gnocchi. 😋 The final course was the Wagyu. I forgot to take a photo of it, but needless to say it was very tender with an almost melty texture. Our dessert was a very light and not overly sweet berry pavlova. Beautiful presentation and refreshing to eat after the four meat courses. …Read More

The restaurant is a nice escape from busy Lee Tung Avenue and Queens Road East....but the air conditioning is quite cold! We dined here In December and still had to keep our jackets on!We ordered :- beef bibimbap- vegetable stir fry with glass noodles- oyster pancake- grilled porkThe beef bibimbap was excellent , the stone bowl was very hot (in other places it is not hot enough to crisp the rice). The grilled pork was accompanied by fresh leafy greens and was delicious. The oyster and chive pancake looked burned. It still tasted okay, the chives were very charred, but if you judged it by looks....👎🏻. Which is a shame. Convenient location if you want to eat Korean food.…Read More

Great for breakfast

Eight of us met here for breakfast. Reservation is very easy if they cannot take your call, a link was sent to my phone which took me to their online reservation system.Restaurant is spacious , bright and airy. We chose to eat indoors, but the terrace outside also has seating.Meal portions are generous and the service is efficient. My family ordered - Egyptian Eggs- Cinnamon French toast- 3 egg omelette. We all enjoyed our meals. My omelette just needed a little extra salt, but apart from that it was light and fluffy, and not too greasy.I would come here again for breakfast. Great for families and large groups.…Read More

Three of us had dinner here recently. We were advised the menu is suited for sharing and it was suggested we order 6-8 dishes for the three of us. The serving sizes are not large so this would seem reasonable. We ordered the following:- empanada with beef and Monterey Jack cheese (1 order comes with just 1 empanada)- grilled eggplant with miso tahini- pork ribs- lamb neck- leaf salad- ember baked potatoes with sour creamThe 6 dishes were plenty for us (as one of our group was an older child). I would say the empanada was a tastier appetiser than the eggplant with miso tahini. The latter tasted a bit unusual - the other adult in our group has had it previously and said it tasted better on that occasion - perhaps this time the staff were too heavy handed with the miso. Both meat dishes were fabulous - tasty, strong flavours and tender meat. The salad and potatoes were also delicious. I would have liked to have another pork rib (each serve comes with 4 ribs only)....but perhaps next time. The service is efficient. I think next time I would spread out the food orders and have drinks in between. The restaurant interior is comfortable and cosy, although I found the music a little bit too loud.I would come back here again!…Read More

Six of us had a lovely dinner here and enjoyed the following dishes:- chicken salad- kimchi pancake with shrimp and squid- sweet and spicy chicken- Korean BBQ chickenNone of these dishes were too spicy. We enjoyed both chicken dishes....the Korean BBQ chicken had a great tasting sauce. Both chicken dishes are accompanied with pickled radish which you can top up , and compliments the chicken nicely. The service was friendly and efficient. I would come here again.…Read More

Good for something different
Orange Tree
2019-11-19
Today I had lunch with two friends at Orange Tree. It was recommended to me by a Dutch friend. The weekday lunch menu is semi-buffet: a selection of appetisers at the bar counter include salads, cold cut meats, some cheese and bread. Then a nice selection of main dishes to choose from. I chose the Steak Frites (although I asked for the Frites to be swapped with vegetables, and the staff kindly obliged). The price is quite reasonable $238 (+10%) for two courses including tea or coffee. For an extra $30 you could also have dessert. My only complaint was the service was either slack (had to literally wave our hands around to get their attention so we could order)....or too rushed (two of us hadn’t even finished our main course but bc the third person had finished already, they came and took our coffee /tea order anyway...and my coffee arrived still while I was eating my main course🙄)Overall, the food is delicious but let down by some lack lustre service.…Read More

Great for something different
Isoya Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant
2019-08-18
Our group of four had dinner here. There are two types of set menu - one is 8 courses, and the other is 6 courses + hotpot. We chose two of each among the four of us.The service is excellent, the staff and manager really took their time to explain what each course is and how to eat it (if there were condiments). I didn’t photograph all the courses we had, but we enjoyed everything. The portion sizes were perfect. I would definitely come here again! Our meal started with two cold appetisers, comprised on a beautifully cut Japanese tomato (no dressing or seasoning, allowing us to enjoy the natural taste of the tomato). The other appetiser had cucumber (served with two types of bean paste, one sweet and one salty), a nicely steamed eggplant with a sesame condiment and cold bean curd.We then had the sushi appetiser. There were four pieces which were cleverly made to mimic regular sushi : “tuna” made with roasted capsicum, grilled eggplant, and two sushi rice wrapped in a Sakura leaf and green bean paper . We all enjoyed this one especially. We had a soup which was made with winter melon and served in tiny teapots and served in tiny tea cups. This was refreshing. The fried bean curd was accompanied by a skewered piece of gluten - it reminded me of the traditional Chinese pudding made during Lunar new year. Both were light and tasty. The hot pot was a choice of either tomato or soy milk based soup. We chose tomato. The cooker was brought to the table and heated up in front of us. There was a vast array of vegetables and, together with the broth, was hearty and filling. The dessert was a warabi mochi accompanied by either peach sherbert or coffee “ice cream”. I chose the coffee and it was delicious.…Read More

Good option for dining at Citygate
JASMINE (Citygate Outlets)
2019-08-07
This is a newly opened restaurant from Maxims Group. Citygate Mall needs more restaurants, so very excited to try this place. We had a family dinner here recently. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was not full. We had made a reservation and were told they have two sittings for dinner 530-730pm or 8pm onwards. We chose an 8pm reservation, but showed up at 730pm and got our table quickly. We ordered the following dishes:- mixed roast meat platter- daily soup- deep fried prawns with pickled ginger- fish with sweet corn sauce- sweet and sour pork with pineapple- fried rock rice with egg white and corn- fried rice in soy sauce- fried diced cauliflower with BBQ pork, egg and prawnFor dessert we shared:- panfried pancake with peanut, sesame and shredded coconut ; and- black sesame dumplings The meal was nice overall. The serving portion for the fish with sweet corn sauce was a bit small, compared to other restaurants. The presentation of the mixed roast meats was so-so and the portion size also small (but it tasted nice). The daily soup was delicious. My favourite was the cauliflower fried rice - tasty and healthy👍🏻!I would come here again, but perhaps need to order more food or ask for larger serving sizes.PS - the ladies toilet is a disaster. They really need to clean it more often 👎🏻…Read More

Mid week set lunch 👍🏻
The Optimist
2019-08-07
Our group of six dined here recently for lunch. The set menu is quite good value during the week. It is a semi buffet - you have a buffet starter and then select your main course. Appetiser buffet has salads, cold cut meats and cheeses, bread, and condiments. I would advise not indulging too much in the buffet, save room for main course and dessert. For main course I ordered the vegetarian dish, a layered eggplant. It is very generous in size, with tomatoes and goats cheese. I actually couldn’t finish it. Two of my friends chose to share one eggplant dish and one Beef 73, which was a better idea. The eggplant was nice - but after a while it just felt like all eggplant, there was so much. For dessert I chose the cheese cake, which was very nice, I finished it quickly!Overall, if it weren’t for the eggplant dish, I would rate my meal 4 stars - the buffet and dessert were nice. But this meal overall is 3-stars. I wish I had chosen the salmon instead - next time!…Read More

We booked a table for 5 for dinner and enjoyed a quiet get together on a Monday night. You don’t come here for plush interiors but for the food!We ordered - Pani puri- steamed momo (5 vegetable and 5 meat)- tandoori chicken- variety of naan bread- samosa chaatIt was all tasty and great for sharing. I found the portion sizes fine, and it was easy to order more if we were still hungry.Good value, I would come again…Read More

CHA BEI
2019-05-02
Galaxy can get quite busy, and yet it is mostly filled with the same type of shops and restaurants you find in HK - with the exception of Cha Bei. What a relief to try something different! We only had coffee and cake here, in the front section of the cafe. The slightly elevated section at the back has table service and serves lunch. We ordered the raspberry tiramisu, the hazelnut cake and the yoghurt berry cube. All were delicious, my favourite was the raspberry tiramisu.I will try the lunch here next time!!!!…Read More

I had a midweek dinner with friends here which was recommended to me. The wine list is extensive and the staff were very patient answering all our questions. We eventually settled on a bottle of the Margaux.I ordered the lamb shank. It was a very generous portion with a sprinkle of vegetables. It was tasty but next time I would order a side dish or two ....and perhaps share it! For dessert we shared two desserts between 4 people: le citron et la poire. Both were lovely. The ambiance (we were seated downstairs) was pleasant and the service attentive. I would come here again.…Read More

We were attending a concert nearby at the Convention Centre and chose to have an early dinner here at 530pm. At this time you can only order from the all day a la carte menu, but that is no problem as the menu has a wide variety of meals to suit all tastes.Between us we ordered:- seared tuna salad (requested the potatoes be excluded)- Norwegian salmon fillet- beef shin pappardelle- flat rice noodles with beefWe all enjoyed our meals which were well portioned. I would come back here again - the dinner buffet looks amazing!…Read More

Bakehouse
2019-04-10
The queues for Bakehouse on a weekday for lunch can get long. We arrived at 1145am and waited maybe 5-10minutes for a table for two. Don’t get put off by the queue length - it seems a lot of groups have one person in the queue but they cannot be seated until their whole group is present. The set lunch has changed since my visit. Between us we ordered:- soup of the day (mushroom)- kale and avocado salad (did not choose the extra chicken)- grilled cheese toastie with bacon- caramelised brioche with ice creamBoth the soup and the salad are served with sliced sourdough. The kale salad was tasty, although I only managed to find two small slices of dried fig. The toastie is a generous portion, and probably could be shared between two people with a smaller appetite. The baked brioche was custard-like and dense, and delicious!!…Read More
