No so much of Singapore cuisine
Pulau
2024-06-18
We ordered the curry laksa & very disappointed. The curry soup taste good but not enough curry favor. Soup is not thick enough to allow the rice noodle to carry the thick soup onto the noodle to make the noodle more tasty. In addition, all the ingredients for the curry laksa , other than the tofu skin is not part of the traditional laksa ingredients. It is expected after I find out this is a chain operation. …Read More

Sing Kee

This is a restaurant that has no service , food is not good. We ordered the thick slice pork liver stir fry with scallions & ginger, the pork liver is cold in inside, when you tell the waiter & waitress they do not give a damn. We also ordered the fish head $ the quality of the fish head is not wild caught, not much taste of the fish head but with a bunch of garlic. The salted fish meat patty has no salted fish taste. The only ok dish is the salt & pepper fresh squid. The squid is good quality. We will not go back as the price is not cheap. …Read More

Famous congee place going downhill
Mui Kee Congee
2024-06-18
This is the place that I visit every time when I come back to Hong Kong for breakfast. However, it is sad to see it is going downhill tuning by the third generation. The congee base is not as thick & tasty as their grandma’s generation. They focus on too many items other than good variety of congees that cooked in the copper pot. All ingredients are raw to cook from the good congee base. However, now become a tourist place especially the Japanese crowd. Fish still very fresh but the congee base is not as good that ruin the favor of the overall taste. Meat ball is not as good as it used to be. It always full of meat taste, crunchy with the preserved vegetables dice in the meat ball. I suspect the rice that they used to cook the congee was not the right mix of old crop & new crop. This will affect the rice favor of the congee & will affect the final product of all different kinds of ingredients. Hope they can do a little more research to put the cooking back to their best quality. …Read More

Incredible enjoyable breakfast
Tree House Thai Kitchen
2024-06-18
This is the place I come for breakfast a lot. Never try their lunch. It is one of the local tea shed in mom Kok. Their milk tea is excellent but you have to ordered it as “茶走‘this means they will sweeten the tea with condensed milk to make the tea taste better than using white sugar. The other I ordered a lot is the smooth scramble egg with corn beef on crispy toasted bread. This is the best match with the hot milk tea. This place has been here for 38 years. Good enjoyable place for fall & winter breakfast. Summer time this place is too hot due to no HVAC in the municipal building. Overall good & quiet breakfast place with excellent milk tea. …Read More

Cheap but ok old style dim sum
潤發飯店
2024-06-18
This is an inexpensive but very local dim sum place that open real Early. It seats right next to my favorite cel phone accessories market. This local restaurant is mostly self service. You can get you dim sum by going outside the entrance & place order or you can take whatever you want back to your table to enjoy. A lot of the dim sum you can find in any local dim sum restaurants except the steam rice items. They have pork belly slice steam with shrimp paste over pot of steam rice, Pork belly slice steam with crunchy Preserve vegetables over pot of rice, plus all other regular chicken feet spare rib on rice, salty fish with slice pork belly on rice. The pur er tea is not top notch, it is only $6 per person on tea so I did not expect much, but ok. The other old tradition dim sum is here too like chicken & fish maw wrapped with tofu skin etc. Overall a good place to rest & hear all local talk about politics & daily gossips. …Read More

annahoho2010 服務評分應該是1,特別是早上賣點心的阿嬸,老板聘請每個阿嬸都極劣,例如買點心比2個5毫子,阿嬸話5毫子唔收嘅,你以後唔好來啦!

Missing a bit for Michelin star
Forum Restaurant
2024-06-18
We were here for lunch to celebrate my sister’s recovery. She was longing for the famous fried rice here but a little bit disappointed. First of all, we ordered some dim sum to start. Their pur er tea is not as good as Luk Yu Tea house. However, their pork liver dim sum out shines everywhere we had in Hong Kong. The taro dim sum is not fluffy & had too much ingredients in the stuffings that over power the taro favor. The taro itself is too crunchy to the hard side, should be crunchy but melted in your mouth. They are very nice to give credit back to us since we do not like it. The crab meat soup with e noodle is not as good as Luk Yu. The soup base is not as favored as it soup be. The e noodle has no egg smell or taste. Overall it is better than a lot of places we go. Finally the Number One fried rice arrived. Rice is crispy but the rice itself undercooked. Rice is a little bit too hard. They were very nice to recooked another one for us. The one that upset me the most is the waiter pick up a customer’s napkin from the floor & without changing or folding it to a nice shape, he just put the dropped napkin back on the customer’s table. If this is not a Michelin 3 star restaurant, I would not mention this incident. Hope they have more hygienic training for the staff to maintain the top rated in the industry. …Read More

Time changes in old restaurant
Luk Yu Tea House
2024-06-18
Time really changed, in the old days this is a place for the rich people at one time. Now this is a more touristic place for young people to understand old Chinese cooking. We were in this place twice, dim sum & dinner. Both meals are real traditional Chinese cooking. Dim sum only rate 70/100 because the salt content was not consistent. Pork liver dim sum was not as good as it used to be. Cut was too thick & taste of the minced shrimp & pork a bit too salty. Some dim sum are too sweet. They need a balanced of taste for the dim sum. As far as dinner concerns, it was an excellent dinner with the traditional almond juice pork lung soup. It is very tasty. Steam minced beef is excellent & it was cooked with the traditional orange peels. Sautéed vegetable in supreme soup was good too. The vegetables were buried in the 3 different kind of eggs soup. The thousand year old eggs in the soup were very good & rendered. Overall dinner is excellent. Service is also very very good & attentive. Had a great time here. …Read More
