Yuen Kee Dessert Cafe
2024-12-05
Read More

Rude service cafe
LITM
2022-06-05
Let me start off with positive review. The environment was relax since it’s not packed and the food tasted ok but it was slightly overpriced for the location and style of the cafe. However, what turned out to be an unpleasant meal was the service was absolutely poor!!! My friend and I questioned the waiter why the set is not available on a Saturday when it said “not available on public holiday”. He then reply Saturday is a public holiday which we don’t agree. He said will go and check but obviously he ignored and never return to us. If the cafe choose not to offer the set on weekend and public holiday, they should specify correctly. Don’t treat customers as uneducated dumb people. My friend and I both agreed there were better or same quality cafes around and don’t expect us to return again.…Read More

Value for money Omasake lunch in Central
WAKO SAKE SUSHI • TAP
2022-02-27
Opened at the end of 2021 located inside Central Market, an omakase that’s less than $400 for lunch and it’s so close to my office, so why not! I’ve been there for several lunches and this place is absolutely value for money with fresh ingredients. Compared to other omakase slightly above $400 in Central, Wako out beat most of them. What’s more? You have got to try their Sake On Tap! The freshness and sweetness of sake that you will not forget. The only down side was they didn’t give me enough uni (sea urchin) on my sushi ~ 😆 …Read More

Tried out this new special Taiwanese hotpot with my friends in Causeway Bay. We ordered a drunken chicken soup base. The whole pot filled with chicken and a strong smell of alcohol! All the meat and food was very fresh. They also provide special handmade dishes like Sichuan spicy Angus beef balls, prawn dumplings and pork squares which are all very delicious and exquisite.…Read More

Eat Fuh
2021-05-22
Treat myself better on a Friday. Went and bought my lunch at a newly opened Vietnamese Pho takeaway shop in Sai Ying Pun. This shop is selling Australian style Vietnamese Pho. I was greedy and ordered a beef combo Pho so I could try everything in one go, also a serve of spring rolls. This beef Pho is the best one I had in HK. Not trying to be bias cause I am from Australia but Vietnamese pho in Australia has always been reputable. Surprisingly the beef pho contained more beef and parts than the noodles. Even though the beef are cooked, it did not taste rough which means it’s using quality beef. The texture of beef tripe was just right, not rubbery and the pho were slipping down my throat. Not to mention the sweetness of the soup, so outstanding. For a person who is sensitive to MSG like me, did not feel thirsty at all after drinking the soup. The only down side was the takeaway container was too high and made it difficult to get the pho down the bottom without making my chopsticks half wet. Also, the pho started to break into small pieces after a few attempts to get the pho.For the spring rolls, the shop is using the spring roll wrap so it’s the Canton style spring rolls at yum cha rather than using rice paper. However I understand why they did not use rice paper for their spring rolls because rice paper becomes chewy after awhile and not ideal for takeaway. Although it’s Canton style spring roll, it’s nicely fried and crispy. As compared to 蔡瀾 pho full of MSG, NY style Pho Bar and Brass Spoon, I prefer the beef pho from Eat Fuh. Keep up with the hard work and look forward to a sit in restaurant in the future…Read More

Fantasy has been vanished
Grotto
2021-01-28
Disclaimer! Food is subjective and depends on its own taste. This review is based on my opinion and does not apply to all.I don't write a lot of food reviews but if I write one, it's mostly a bad food review. A negative review of a cafe in Quarry Bay by celebrity chef. It’s truly disappointing or am I expecting too much from a celebrity chef?!?! Sorry but not sorry on my review. I had friends who went and tried and no good reviews about Grotto so far. Not sure whether we had a high benchmark on good food or others were too low.Coffeeoor! Thought this was the soul of a cafe.....The cafe offered fruity and nutty blend. Could taste the difference between the two blends, but fruity was too roasted and nutty was over roasted. Froth.....not fine and shiny and a sip short according to the cup presented. My coffee at home aren’t too bad after all.Food:Signature Stones (scones), nothing special and no surprise. Had Grandma’s Scones before, so it’s unnecessary to have this at this cafe. The rhubarb jam (meant to taste similar to roasted apples), it’s rare but there is always a reason why traditional scones use berries or citrus jam, so see for yourself.Service:Friendly but weren’t educated on their food and servings, including but not limited to, the portion of cream and jam and the name of the ingredients (rhubarb) in the jam. I understand it’s soft opening but at least know what kind of food they are serving.Cafe decowner did have some thoughts on the colors, paintings and the arch entrance etc. However, cafe was too noisy, sound absorption item/ deco was not considered and music was too loud to have a nice chat with friends. Obviously no one did sit down and listen to the sound and ambience level before the opening. As a result, the target audience weren’t clear, not sure if this is a dine and leave cafe or a cafe to chill and relax. Idk idk idk. Also that marble plate on marble table, didn’t work too well.....…Read More

…Read More

Healthy and tasty
Dandy's Organic Cafe
2013-10-08
It's the second time I've been to Dandy's for lunch and it didn't disappoint me. I ordered today's special which is tomato and mixed vegetable soup, chicken breast and tofu veggie salad with coffee or tea. While my friend ordered a chicken pasta. The chef knows how to make an organic healthy meal to be tasty as well. I love the seasoning they have used in the salad and also the tofu.....so delicious! I tasted my friend's pasta which I found the texture of brown pasta to be slightly chewy and it gave that extra taste that you don't normally taste in normal pasta. I will definitely come back and try out their pasta and rice again.…Read More

Pizza?!
Piccolo Pizzeria & Bar (沅紗街)
2012-04-18
My bf and I felt like pizza for lunch on Sunday hence we drove to Tai Hang and try out this new place. We ordered fried calarmari, green salad and parma ham pizza. The calarmari was lightly battered and we were pretty happy with it. The salad was green plus olive oil, please don't expect a vinegar dressing or other kinds. When the pizza came, my bf and I both looked at each other thinking the crust of the pizza looked a little dark, in fact i should call it 'black' and 'burnt'. Anyway, we didn't ask the waiter to take it back as it is already late in the afternoon. We picked up the pizza with our hands and the crust crisped and broke off and fell on the plate coz the pizza was so over cooked. Not to mention the ham, the cheese and the rest of the ingredients cannot stay on the pizza at all! The whole pizza basically detached itself when we picked up the pizza. We thought having the ingredients on the pizza is the most basic requirement when making a pizza, but i assume not for Piccolo. To sum up, it was a disappointing meal and we will never go to Piccolo ever again.…Read More
