Must try nasi bakar spesial
Restoran Indonesia Kampung Kita
2024-05-31
My Indonesian buddy told me I had to check out this place, and I'm glad I listened. The restaurant is right in the heart of Mong Kok, super easy to find. When the Nasi Bakar Spesial hit the table, I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the presentation. The rice was all grilled up with a nice smoky char, and it was packed with flavor. They have loaded it up with a ton of dry fish, dry squid, spices and aromatics, because every bite was bursting with that authentic Indonesian taste. On top of the rice, they had some juicy fried chicken and a bunch of fresh veggies. But the real star of the show was that sambal sauce they drizzled all over it. That stuff had a serious kick, but it also had this awesome tangy, umami thing going on. It really tied the whole dish together. The textures were on point too - the fluffy rice, the tender chicken, the crunchy veggies, it all worked so well. I cleaned my plate in no time, it was that good.Honestly, I can see why my friend raved about this place. That Nasi Bakar Spesial was lit. If you're in the mood for some authentic, flavor-packed Indonesian food in the heart of Mong Kok, I'd definitely recommend giving this spot a try.…Read More

Must try Duck Duo
TamJai SamGor (Ivy On Belcher’s)
2024-05-26
As a regular at Tamjai Samgor, I can say this restaurant is a go-to spot for those seeking comforting and delicious Cantonese cuisine, even for non-Chinese speakers. The establishment offers an English menu, comfortable seating, and attentive service - making it an accessible and enjoyable dining experience.Today, I decided to try their new menu item, the Duck Duo. This dish features a mix of smoky duck breast and duck kidney, served with a pickle mustard soup over a bed of mixian noodles. I must admit, I initially had my doubts about the combination, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors and textures blended together. The smokiness of the duck breast complemented the richness of the duck kidney, creating a harmonious balance. The pickle mustard soup provided a refreshing contrast, cutting through the heartiness of the dish and making it a perfect choice for the summer season.…Read More

Lady M’s Strawberry Crepe Cake
Lady M
2024-05-26
I’m a big fan of Lady M's cakes, so I was excited to try their new Strawberry Crepe Cake. Unfortunately, this particular offering didn't quite hit the mark for me. While the presentation was as beautiful as always, the cake itself was just too sweet overall. The layers of delicate crepe were nicely balanced with the strawberry filling, but the level of sweetness was simply overwhelming. It overpowered the natural flavor of the fresh strawberries and made the entire dessert feel one-note and cloying. At the premium price point Lady M commands, I expected a more nuanced and balanced flavor profile. Instead, I found myself wishing I had just stuck with one of their standard classic cakes, which I know showcase their exceptional skills as pastry chefs.…Read More

flavourful vietnamese food!
NAM VIET NAM CAFÉ
2024-05-26
As foreigner living in HK, this is such a hidden gem I stumbled upon in Mong Kok! This Vietnamese spot totally hit the spot after a long day at work. The Grilled Chicken with that tangy green apple sauce was the perfect start. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful - loved the charred notes. Then the amazing Coffee Soft Bone Pork blew me away. That pork was fall-off-the-bone tender and the coffee really elevated the dish in a unique way. This is a must to try!I mopped up all the delicious sauces with the super fresh Vietnamese French Bread. And the Pandan Longan Tea was so refreshing - the perfect pairing. But the real star was the Phu Quoc Island Coconut Cream with Mango for dessert. That coconut cream was so creamy and rich, balanced out by the sweet, tangy mango. Seriously, one of the best desserts I've had in a while. This hidden spot totally delivered on authentic, flavor-packed Vietnamese cuisine. Can't wait to go back and try more!…Read More

Good value meal
Maxim's MX (Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Building)
2024-05-07
Spent only HKD 55 for a BBQ pork with omelet dinner set, including an iced tea, this dish is an absolute steal - especially for non-Chinese speakers in pricey Hong Kong. The BBQ pork was cooked to perfection and with a delicious caramelized crust. Paired with a light, fluffy omelet, it made for an incredibly satisfying and authentic Cantonese meal. For the quality and portion size, this spot is delivering unbeatable value. If you're a BBQ lover looking for an amazing deal, don't miss this it!…Read More
