Noting on the newspaper that the restaurant is reopening after a long period of renovation, I was full of excitement and anticipation. I immediately made a booking in February to have lunch with my friends on a Sunday in March.This afternoon, to my complete surprise, I got a call from the restaurant, telling me that my booking has been cancelled because the whole restaurant was booked for an event. What’s worse, I received a ‘cancellation’ email from the restaurant with wordings implying it was me who made the cancellation.Words cannot describe my disappointment for such cold and unfriendly customer service from such a well known restaurant at a popular tourist site, not only for foreign visitors but also for local people like us. I feel like I had gone to heaven and then was thrown back to Earth like some sort of rubbish. Honestly, I wonder if the restaurant had already been booked when I made my reservation more than a week ago, before they confirmed my booking using ‘automatic reply’. Regardless, I believe they should honour my booking unless there are unexpected circumstances or safety concerns. Seriously, however delicious their food is, I would NEVER NEVER recommend any of my friends here or abroad to visit this restaurant as it doesn't treasure their customers.
