Still able to maintain some standard
Satay Inn (China Hong Kong City)
2021-05-04
Used to visit here quite often when working in this area 5 years ago, mostly because of its easiness to grap a table during peak hours and its upto standard service. We have ordered:1. Hainan Chicken (half): this is their signature dish which the quality has been preserved well. The meat was tendered and blend well with the sauce.2. Patong Beef: taste good with curry based gravy3. Stir Fried Morning Glory: taste standard…Read More

Good Deal Dinner at Central
Pici
2021-04-17
All the dishes are averagely good & the price is reasonable. It is a good deal for Italian cuisine at this location.Though a bit noisy, it is much compensated by the good service offered by those smilely & friendly waitresses. It’s an enjoyable experience!…Read More

This restaurant is somewhat over-rated
Blue Elephant Thai Brasserie
2017-03-25
…Read More

這是泰國菜嗎?
Thai Chili
2011-01-24
…Read More

I really didn't expect that much as there were still plenty of empty seats on a saturday night. We arrived at 7:30pm & we need to rush as our show started at 8:00pm.We hurriedly ordered 3 dishes:1. Papaya Salad: the portion was small & tasted just average2. Tom Yum Kung Noodles: the soup base was a disappointment as it didn't taste like it should be though it is a bit sour & spicy. It was obvious that some of the essential ingredients were missing to bring out such flavour.3. Seafood Laksa: the soup was a big too thick, but not too bad. It seems that they have added too much coconut oil. However, the prawn wasn't fresh at all!The ambience was not upto standard as its setting resembled of a canteen. One unacceptable thing to me was, most of the plates placed on the table either have broken a bit or have cracks. I was totally appalled by this.Service was fine at the entrance, but a bit chaotic when comes to ordering & delivering the dishes. Some staff really needed to be trained up!…Read More

Just Average
Brasserie Le Fauchon
2008-06-10
The place wasn't full even on a friday night, maybe because of the heavy rain.We ordered 2 4-set courses which cost at $248 each:1. Appetizer:- Escarcot, I particularly like the way they serve as they didn't come with the shell and they were buried in half-baked mashed potatoes- Salad, taste fine as the vegatables are fresh2. Soup- Onion Soup, the soup is a bit watery, which I preferred the taste of Campbell Soup.3. Main Course- Rib-Eye Steak tastes averagely good and it is cooked exactly I wanted as medium rare.- Salmon tastes ok4. Dessert- Chocolate Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream tastes ok, as the chocolate isn't rich enough- Cheese cake tastes goodThe iced coffee is a disaster as it has too much water making me having a big discount on the impression of this restaurant. Service is just average as I can't see any warm smiling faces to make us feel more comfortable. They simply take orders and off they went.…Read More

Quality Maintained
Kings' Lodge
2008-06-06
It used to be lots of people queuing for dinner but there were still plenty of tables available at around 8:00pm last night.Quality of the food is average here, but seems to be able to maintain without deteriorating in these 2 years. We ordered:1. 霸王小籠包: a little better than average but at least better than 鼎泰豐2. 雞絲粉皮: too much peanut butter added in making it too sticky & covering the taste of the shredded chicken3. 花彫醉雞: one of the best dishes here; chicken tastes good & well blended with the wine.4. 東坡肉: though the pork isn't tender enough, the sauce tastes good5. 豆腐皮蛋: tastes good.6. 豆沙窩餅 (free with coupon): the worst dish on the table; too oily, not tasty, we can't even finish half of it. maybe this is the reason they give out for free! The service is ok, but most of the waiters/waitress seems not paying much attention to the clients. They just keep running here & there.Still recommend to give it a try.…Read More

Hard To Believe
Walls Thai Food & K Pub
2008-06-05
I find it quite surprising that some of the dishes can be that outstanding. Frankly speaking, from the setting of this restaurant, my expectation is quite low in the first place, as it is more like a bar than a Thai restaurant.Recommended dish:1. Tom Yum Soup: it is one of the best I have tasted in hong kong, as they use fresh water prawns instead of sea prawns as in most restaurants.2. Prawn Sashimi: the prawns are fresh & large; the chilly sauce also tastes great & spicy.3. Green Papaya Salad: they got all the ingredients that make it tastes like those I have in bangkok. However, the curry needed some improvement as it lacks the curry flavor, as it seems to have added to much coconut oil. The worst part for this restaurant is the noise as I need to bear other singing karaoke!…Read More

Not All Dishes Are Nice
Wing Lai Yuen Sze Chuen Noodles Restaurant
2008-06-02
Though not all dishes are nice in this shop but it is at least much better than the one in Hunghom. Here are some dishes NOT recommended:1. 小籠包: the wrappings are too thick, too oily & the pork are tasteless2. 擔擔麵: the soup seems to be thick but lack tastesHere are some dishes recommended MUST try:1. 五香豆腐: it blends well with the sauce (must served cold as sometimes they are still warm which obviously are those recently cooked that don't have enough time to cool down & soak up the sauce)2. Shreded pork with 粉皮: the pork are shred into thin slices that come with 粉皮 dipping in garlic soy sauce. the pork are a bit fat though. Most of the dishes are quite oily if you don't mind or don't visit them too frequently. Don't expect the meal is cheap considering the location!…Read More

Don't Expect Too Much
Grand Cafe
2008-05-30
Sure you will be disappointed if you're expecting from the amount you paid and from the hotel brand. The food quality in most of the items is above standard such as goose liver paste, the soup, the salad, the chilled seafood & the steak. However, the desserts are quite a disappointment as none of the items impressed me as they are just very standard which even lower class hotels can offer such quality. I particularly don't like the ice creams & sorbets. There are 2 very disappointing things they have for this buffet. First, the portioning of sashimi is a petty act for this hotel class! I can understand if they are serving abalone, uni, toro, etc. But they are just serving very standard sashimi for god sakes and they look very plain. Second, the hot-pot stall taking that lot of space is another thing a classy hotel shouldn't have done. I am not expecting I will have noodles, fishballs, vegetables, mushrooms, etc that I can have in a hawker stall after paying this much! The only thing I like here is, it is not very crowded and packed.…Read More

Service Sucks
Wa San Mai
2008-05-28
The food in general is superb which for sure makes your dinner more enjoyable if not for its lousy service. If you don't ask the waiters to give you the menu that serves set dinners, they will just hand you a menu with very limited choice costing sky high. When first ask them whether they serve set dinners during nights time, one waitress vaguely said that they only serve those food in the menu which are handed to us. Then, I asked another waiter (appeared to be a manager), he reluctantly tell us that they serve such and later handed me another menu. Needless to say, the sets cost much lower than the first one.Another time when we went over on a saturday afternoon asking them to give us a table by the window (which I have already reserved 3 days ago specifying for a window seat), the manager put it in an unfriendly and annoying tone saying "..... its all depends whether the seats are available, there is no guarantee even you have booked before hand.....". I just can't believe such a high-class restaurant have such kind of service!!!! I wonder will they treat Japanese customers like that?Too bad, its lousy service spoil the mood even though their food tastes really good. …Read More

Getting Worse & Worse
Wong Chun Chun Thai Restaurant
2008-05-28
Wong Chun Chun used to be one of my favourite restaurants 10 years ago. However, their food quality has been deteriorating every time I visited them. Or maybe, the food quality of other Thai restaurant has been improving a lot since then.Last week, I have order the following food with comment as follows:1. Scallop Tom Yum Soup: it was just salty without the real flavour of Tom Yum2. Mango Fried Rice: standard but plain3. Raw Prawns: the prawns are averagely small & not fresh enough4. Spicy Chicken Legs: spicy & have maintain its standard (the best dish overall)Very disappointing for such a well-known name for Thai food!…Read More

Surprisingly Good
Freshness Burger
2008-05-28
I was once haunted by the burgers offered by another Japanese restaurant - Mos Burger. It was around tea around & we are still too full to order plenty of food. We have 2 classic burgers, passion fruit juice & iced green tea. To my surprise, the burger tastes really good as the beef is juicy & meaty. iced green tea tastes plain as compare to Star Buck's green tea franpachino, while the fruit juice is nice.…Read More

No Wonder So Few Customer
Yeoh's Bah Kut Teh
2008-05-28
This is one of the places you can find to have seats during lunch hours at Sheung Wan. They used to be so packed with people when the time they first started a few years ago. At that time, the food quality was good, but service was extremely lousy! This is the first time I tried after they moved to this new address. The food quality is still averagely good & the quantity for the "pork tea" has improved. I and many customers alike did complain in the past that the soup was getting lesser & lesser. However, the service remains mediocre as I have ordered one pot of pork tea cost $35, the waitress asked me whether I want to go with rice. I say yes & there it goes serving me a bowl of rice without saying they will charge me an extra $6. Although a lot of places go without saying that a bowl of rice will be charged, they at least put in a tone that won't make you think it comes with the main course without extra charge. While I saw a lot of dishes in the menu are overly priced. How would I have the intention to order a small dish of tou-fu (with minced meat) that cost $22.I will go there again if only I am not able to get a seat at other places.…Read More

Just Very Average
Din Tai Fung
2008-05-28
Maybe the name gives me too much expectation though having read some of the negative comments before going, I found it quite disappointing in terms of food quality. No matter how superb the service is, which I think they really are, it can't make me go there again. We ordered ordinary dishes and they were just average, but if considered the price charged at that high, they failed to deliver what are charged! Here are what we are order a week ago:1. Wine Chicken: the display is fair; chicken without taste nor it well blends with the wine2. 小 籠 包: nothing special for the taste3. Hau-fu: too oily lack tastes4. Fried Rice: just average for the taste without something particularly good for me to remember5. Rice cake (stuff with red bean): too dry & coarseIf they charge me $40 per person, I will rate it much higher!…Read More
