Five of us came for lunch because we heard that the or fish burger was excellent. While we thoroughly enjoyed the lemonade and the eel appetizer, the fish burger was disappointing. The fish was dry, and the plate was excessively oily. All five of us had ordered the fish burger based on their servers’ strong recommendations, with one even claiming it was the best in the city. Unfortunately, none of us could finish our meals as they did not meet our expectations. We came here for a birthday celebration and shared 2 4-course lunches. Every single appetizer was very well done. The octopus in the octopus salad was tender just to my liking. The clams were served in a very tasty broth full of umami and it was complemented with a delicious garlic bread. The foie gras terrine was served cold at the perfect temperature and it didn’t feel heavy at all. My friend’s favourite was the 63c degree egg with cauliflower foam. As for the mains, the garoupa was fine but I thoroughly enjoyed the spaghetti with red prawns. There were 2 large red prawns with the entire head and shell and also more chopped up prawn meat mixed in with the spaghetti. I’ll be ordering this again next time I come. We finished with the tiramisu which was well done as expected. We went on a weekday and the restaurant was not full. Went there for a leisurely weekday lunch with my partner. The menu was extensive for such a small space. We ordered 2 bento boxes at $210 each. The portions were small but it was beautifully presented and the taste was pretty good. We were surprisingly satisfied after finishing everything. There were only 2 pieces of grilled eel so I had to add the crab salad and the stewed chicken to the rice. The Hokkaido cheesecake was very delicate and completes the meal well. The space was small but the service was really outstanding. They kept moving us whenever a larger table comes up as the first 2 we sat at were really only comfortable for 1 person. The manager-looking lady (think her name was Scarlett?) was so friendly with all her patrons. I enjoyed just watching her and listening to how she was greeting her regular customers and new visitors. We booked the restaurant a day ahead for a Tuesday evening for 3 people. We shared the raj kachori which was beautiful and delicious. The only issue I had with it was that I thought the shell was a bit on the hard side. If it could be more crispy and flakey, the dish would be perfect. We ordered the butter chicken, beef short rib curry and saag portobello. They were all very different and was a great complement to the garlic naan and basmati rice we had. The butter chicken was not as tender as some other places but the sauce was extremely tasty. The saag portobello was very light as it didn’t have any cream in it. It is our first time visiting this Japanese restaurant. The seating is quite tight as the chairs at the bar are almost touching each other. Luckily, the first seating at noon is full so we booked the second seating at 1:30pm. We were actually the only customers there so we didn’t have to cozy up with strangers. The appetizer buffet was a beautiful spread. The items that I enjoyed the most were the veal tonnata and carvery of the day which was a super tender, juicy and flavourful ribeye. The seafood tower included a huge tiger prawn, half a lobster, mussels, clams and salmon tartare per person. There was only one choice at the pasta station. Always enjoyed going to Tosca: the amazing view, the high ceiling, grand decor and well executed food. We ordered their tasting menu Minuetto ($1,688). Even though it listed 4 courses, there were several amuse bouche, a pre-dessert and petit fours so the meal was very satisfying. The last amuse bouche with black truffles was decadent. My favourite dish is their Mazara red prawn, wild hamachi with Kaluga caviar. The Alaskan black cod was delicious and super tender and juicy. The Acquerello risotto was too al dente for my liking. The veal tenderloin was tender and flavourful. Even both the desserts and petit fours were of very high calibre. The service was attentive but they lack friendliness and they don’t smile. Our overall experience was amazing. Will definitely come back again and will ask for the Japanese head chef and Kim to serve us in the private room again. I have been here for lunch many times but dinner only once before covid. Their dinner is more delicious than dinner at some Michelin starred restaurants in town except it is much better value. I recently came back for dinner for a birthday celebration. Their dinner tasting menu was even better than I remembered.
