DOUBLE EGGS
2024-03-05
60 dollars for a Hamburg omelette rice and a lemon tea. the food was delicious, the gelatinous sauce was appealing in its own way. while I was eating another friendly restaurant owner came up to me and asked for my thoughts. thought it was pretty cool. Hamburg was chewy and had notes of roasted flavour. some greens to balance out too. I wouldn't say it's on the cheapest side, but the flavour is definitely worth it. from walking up to the counter to eating, I could definitely feel a sense of warmth, kinda chill. …Read More

unique store with a bold heart
MIRAKURU JAPANESE NOODLE
2024-01-28
when I first went to this ramen store it was night and the store stood out in the alleyway like a beacon. I love that soothing yellow ambience inside, which is bright enough to attract your eyes but not as bright to burn them like discord light mode. the logo is really eye catching, almost reminiscent of initial d- symbolising an energetic and powerful store. I ordered the original ramen (I think it was tonkotsu broth) with extra chashu. at first I was put away at how raw the meat looked but it was really good! DO NOT BE PUT AWAY. it was delightfully chewy yet soft like a medium rare. the only problem would be the flavour of the meat, which was generously backed up by how rich the broth is, really warmed me on a cold winters day. by the way, love the pepper grinder, which goes surprisingly well with the ramen! all in all, this restaurant boldly steps into unknown ramen territory, and announces its presence to the world despite being in a dark alleyway in the unique and innovative style that, is what I believe makes mirakuru ramen truly itself. and in case you ask, the service was very nice too.…Read More

ok but
Tiger Ramen
2024-01-28
the constant presence of "ok, but" makes this ramen booth a bit less enjoyable but a still very appealing restaurant to try. one very minor problem would be the very subjective term of "deluxe" in "deluxe meat", which is only a combination of one lonely slice of pork shoulder. my attention was drawn all the way over to the more outstanding piece of pork belly, which was nicely roasted and was far more flavourful. other than that, the dumplings were much softer and flavourful than other shops and the sauce is sour but in a really satisfying way, and it doesn't make you look like a prune every time you eat it. in terms of the appearance of the shop, I can't really blame anybody but the giant fluorescent foodmuse light bar above the booth break the atmosphere so badly, but it's not their fault at all.…Read More

perfect
Zanji Ramen
2023-12-17
I used to come here every time for a filling dinner after basketball, and I still regularly come here to savour it's harmonious blend of Chinese and Japanese culture. you can definitely see some traces of Chinese tradition in the perfectly marinated eggs and chashu in the chashu ramen, while still remaining some Japanese qualities in the broth etc. the enoki-wrapped beef is very good, but I only if you can accept the fact that emoji always sticks to your teeth-i can. as far as I know, not a lot of people come here, and I'm guessing ita because it's perfectly positioned next to a famous clay pot rice restaurant. I usually come at 6-8pm and there's very little people. overall, it's super underrated and pretty close to a mtr exit. it's a gem hidden in the depths of Hong Kong.…Read More
