Health option #1, Yuzu Tori DonI recently tried a delicious and healthy chicken rice dish that I absolutely loved! The dish was made with tender, juicy pieces of chicken that were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The rice was fluffy and flavorful, and the dish was packed with nutritious vegetables like broccoli. The combination of flavors and textures was amazing, and I felt satisfied and energized after eating it. I would highly recommend this dish to anyone looking for a tasty and healthy meal option!…Read More

Great place for lunch and dinner
One Point Zero One
2022-11-02
壹.01 is an awesome lunch and dinner location for those working in Kwun Tong. It has a nice restaurant area close to the offices, as well as a takeaway option too. As it is between the Kwun Tong offices and the Kwun Tong MTR station, this is a great location to go grab an authentic Taiwanese bite! 🇹🇼 My personal go-to would be the hand-shredded chicken bento. 🍱 The bento deals in my opinion are much better considering they also have sides and vegetables. 🥗 Compared with competitors, this is a great deal given the price point and the quality of the food. Their drinks are also currently on discount, so we ordered three drinks. My favourite is definitely the wintermelon tea. It’s not only refreshing and great for your throat, it has a low sugar option which is the best. I would also recommend the 風琴豆腐牛肉飯, their tofu was amazing and truly elevated the lunch. As you get a few sausages with your bento option, I would suggest getting the bento instead of separately ordering sides. That way you don’t have to share the delicious food 😂😂蜜汁排骨便當 $65手撕雞便 $65 風琴豆腐牛肉飯 $55蜜汁台灣腸 $15酥炸花枝丸 $15花雕雞翼 $28豆奶(大) $12 -> $11雙檸冬瓜茶 $42 -> $21生薑桂圓紅棗茶 $19 -> $17📍壹。01 One Point Zero One (Kwun Tong)Shop D, 2/F, COS Centre, 56 Tsun Yip Street, Kwun Tong…Read More

Orka
2022-11-02
Orka is cute restaurant situated on wyndam street with a focus on sustainability and wellness. 🪴 Their health-orientated menu has options for sustainable Meat lovers, pescatarian, and vegans which is a big plus for accommodating all parties. 🌱 Personally, I am a big fan of having plant-based options and love my healthy super food. They are also worth checking out now as they just launched their new tasty menu!We went for the set dinner menu as it provided a lot of options. I absolutely loved the Barramuni Eggplant Stack. 🐠 The fish was perfectly cooked with a pairing of complementary veggies right below it. This was also the case for the Seared Octopus Prime. 🐙 You can taste the quality in the raw ingredient for the octopus, just one bite and you can tell what is a fresh octopus. I would definitely give the octopus another shot on my next return.I created a separate paragraph just to highlight the Camu-sake. 🍶The bartender that designed this tasty drink needs an award. This was definitely the best sake cocktail i've had. Given that this place is also a bar near the LKF, this could be a great place to grab a drink.Camu-sake $98Blueberry basil Kombucha $58Seared Octopus Prime $310Set Dinner Menu $298Signature purple corn sourdough bread served with butterAvocado Summer Bang SaladBarramuni Eggplant Stack…Read More

Be with Years (Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa Pebbles World)
2021-08-15
Be is the fourth restaurant of the Years franchise. Opened near whampoa, its location is near the edge and needs a 7 min walk from the MTR station. It is furnished with typical Years aesthetics, ie Hip and Modern. Long story short, if you’re a fan of Years, you will be a fan of this restaurant. This is a Cash only, so remember to bring dollar notes. We ordered the Old School impossible burger and the Cauliflower steak. They do not skimp out on the patties for the impossible burger. Truly one of the best places to eat Impossible if you’re a fan of good food. The cauliflower steak was decent. It wasn’t too special but worth a try. It is certainly a bit steep given the price and the other options on the menu. Also based on other people’s orders, it seems the cauliflower steak varies a bit in size order to order. Perhaps this could be attributed to the fact that this is the second day since soft opening. It should become more consistent based on experience at Years. For drinks, we had the banana pitaya oat milk and the tumeric ginger latte. Nothing much to comment on besides the fact that they absolutely smashed it. Loved both of them, and it’s a treat that you can get the drinks for a cheaper price if you buy a main. The Banana Pitaya has a strong oat milk flavour, and the tumeric ginger leans heavier in the tumeric. Both were great. All in all, definitely recommend to come to Be. It is a fine addition to the series of restaurants by the Years team. Especially since it’s now in the middle of a residential area not far off into the west. …Read More

Izakaya Satoi
2020-09-20
Izakaya sotoi is a small restaurant in the middle of tai hang. It is one you could easily walk by without seeing since it is somewhat hidden. The restaurant has two stores. A main store and a side store where they have extra seating. We were allocated to the side store since they were fully seated already. The side store is small and packed and it seems that grilled izakaya food is the main focus. We still ordered the sushi off the menu since it was a hot day. No complaints about the side store as it is nicely temperature regulated and not blasted with music. Like with all side stores, it is impossible to get a hold of the staff since they would all mainly be at the main store. If you need something, make sure to ask for it all in one go.StarterWe both got the udon set which meant that both of us got the udon. I quite liked the udon as it was chewy and rather enjoyable. The broth it was served in was also really good and drinkable. This is coupled with the amount of side ingredients such as the clams. This starter is meant to be small so it was pretty good. It was rather perplexing why they did it this way since the menu calls it an udon set with sushi rice. This is what they meant when the name suggests there’s two main carbs in the set.Assorted sashimi sushi with rice bowlI loved it. The sashimi was fresh. The sushi rice was brilliantly done. I’m not sure one can have a lot of complaints with this dish. In terms of value for money, the whole set is worth 148 HKD which is a good value. There was 4 different types of sashimi including the shrimp which makes this rice bowl one that I would get again.Grilled eel riceThe grilled eel rice was also done really well. It came with two pieces of assorted sashimi. As you could probably guess, the sashimi was pretty fresh. The quality of the eel was also good too. You can tell that the eel was grilled properly. The sauce wasn’t too salty which is often the case which makes the pairing with the rice amazing. I could have devoured this whole bowl in a heartbeat.DessertThe orange was so cute. Honestly, it is stuff like this that makes me appreciate the small stores. You could tell that they are willing to put in the effort to make things look and taste good.…Read More

Elephant Grounds (永豐大廈)
2020-09-20
Elephant grounds at admiralty/wanchai is always packed. A few times that I came, the place is always bustling with people. Working at elephant grounds is a great option as they don’t seem to have a seating time limit. I sat from 4pm to 6pm so I was able to focus on my work. The environment is great with plenty of open space. I wasn’t originally planning to write this review since I ordered so little food, but I saw that not a lot of people have tried the Impossible taco fries so I thought i would give you some insight.Impossible taco friesFor the price it is set at, the impossible taco fries is on of the better dishes to get on the sharing menu. The portions is massive with no lacking of ingredients. You will get your worth of impossible meat as well as plenty of other ingredients mixed in. The dipping sauce was okay, I wasn’t sure what to make of it given it is somewhat boring? There’s no shortage of avocados too which is a major plus for anyone that loves a good avo!Oat milk matcha latteI won’t lie, I do quite like the matcha latte at this elephant grounds. The blend of oat milk fits extremely with their matcha. I would personally rank this matcha as one of the better ones you could get in Hong Kong given how nicely made it is. The latte is rich with matcha flavour which some other cafe sometimes skimp out on. I would get it again given its price point.…Read More

New refreshing look for Mana
MANA! SoHo
2020-09-17
Mana is one of my favourite restaurants in Hong Kong. Let me preface with the fact that I, myself, am not vegan. I simply think that the quality of food at mana is much better than other restaurants. Mana used to have a small store in Central, but I’m glad they finally upgraded into this SoHo store. There is a lot more space to sit and it’s much more comfortable to sit in and I love the new environment since it’s a lot more spacious. The staff members are really nice and patient, especially since I usually take forever to order. Either way, onto the food!SoupThe soup at Mana is not set in stone. You have to check their social media account to know which soups is sold at which mana. So if you have a specific soup that you like, you’ll need to make sure to double check whether mana is serving it at your local Mana store. I personally love the lentil soup. It is the best soup I have had, the spices and everything is just perfectly balanced. Today, we had the carrot soup since it was on rotation today. Not my favourite, but the soup here always feel really hearty.YamsOh my god. I love the yams here. Like have you ever had a store that are so generous with their big ass fries? It also comes with a fantastic, and my absolute favourite, garlicnaise sauce. This combo is a must get everytime I come to mana. We were lucky to have had a promotion at mana today. Spend a total of 150$ and get a free side of yams or chips. Without a doubt we got the yams. We make sure to come support Mana as much as we can since it’s our fave local restaurant.Custom flatsMy favourite part about mana is their custom flats. They have a lot of premade options for flats available. They are all excellent choices, but nothing beats picking all your favourite ingredients in your flat. I typically get the falafel, hummus, and kale since those three ingredients simply complement each other really well. The kale really gives the flat volume. The falafel is very well done and the hummus is just pure quality. This time around we decided to get roasted broccoli and halloumi cheese. This combo actually works pretty well. I’m surprised at how amazing the flavours blended together.Do I suggest you to come to Mana? Yes. It’s not only good food but it’s also vegan/vegetarian. I’m a strong believer that you should choose the restaurant based on how good the food is. Mana has amazing food options and it just happens to also be vegan and does a lot for the environment. So win win for everyone.…Read More

Health is wealth QMH edition
HealthWorks
2020-09-17
I’m sure for anyone that has been to Queen Mary Hospital, you will agree that there isn’t a lot of options for lunch. One of the options you can get and often forgotten is the health works! The issue with eating here is you don’t actually have anywhere to eat your food. You will need to take out and bring the food back to your desk to eat which is kinda annoying. Anywho, this option for lunch is still good considering the quality of food they serve. The store smelled absolutely amazing and that’s because the shop sells a lot of things with a variety of herbs.Mushroom chicken udonThe food was cooked in front of us. Meaning they opened a pack of udon and cooked the noodles. I have slight mixed feelings about this given that the udon pack was just laying there. Either way, the shop quickly smelled amazing from the cooking. We brought the take out back to our office, and the mushroom chicken udon simple smelled amazing. The aromatic mushroom quickly filled the room and everyone started asking what we had. The taste was also pretty good too. The mushroom certainly matched the aroma. Only issue was the soup base. I was kinda hoping for a soup base that was drinkable, but the base itself was overly salty. That made eating the udon less enjoyable than expected. For the price of 55HKD I think I would revisit if I’m feeling like I want to eat healthy.…Read More

HK skyline with Korean food
Myung Ga Korean Restaurant
2020-09-17
Myung Ga is premiere korean restaurant situated on the 28th floor of isquare. Whilst the price on the menu doesn’t really reflect that, the service and environment speaks for itself. The ambience they have created is peaceful, open, and spacious. None of that crowded Hong Kong restaurant style but you could tell there were a lot of people as the restaurant was full. If you like Korean food, and need a quieter and nicer place to go, Myung Ga would be your option.BanchanThey served 6 banchan for us for our starters. I always appreciate good banchan as they really start your meal off with a lot of options. Nothing noteworthy, but the portions of banchan were pretty generous.Seafood pancake with scallionsThis was one of my favourite dishes in this meal. It was fried nicely with no excess oil. That meant there weren’t a lot of grease which made eating it taste really good. The dipping sauce was also pretty good but slightly on the salty side. It was however small for its prices given that it’s more expensive than the mains themselves. 120 HKD. They do have a larger option but I’m not sure about the value for money.Spicy soft tofu stewA stew in my opinion is how you could tell a good korean restaurant from a mediocre one. The dish requires a good balance of spices and flavours with a very delicate ingredient. This dish originally comes wjth pork, but we decided to not get it with pork. The tofu was great itself and it came with a lot of side ingredients such as vegetables and egg. This dish was once again too salty. We had to use the rice to die down the saltiness. Soup noodle with seafoodI have got to say this dish was really good. The seafood flavours was just packing! I loved the noodles that came with, it was chewy and flavourful. The clear seafood base was not too salty like the other dishes, so you could actually drink the soup base. That’s something I always appreciate when eating at korean restaurants. They were generous with the amount of seafood given which makes this dish worth the price it was set at.All in all, Myung Ga is a korean restaurant that does a lot of different things. I would imagine they’re famous for their grilled meat which is not something we got in this meal. The other things on the menu which we have tried was acceptable. The best part about the restaurant is really the view and ambience. That’s worth coming to Myung Ga.…Read More

Brunch or the best dessert place?
Blue Supreme
2020-09-17
Blue supreme is first and foremost a bar. It serves a wide variety of alcohol with a beautiful open area for you to watch the bartender. It also have a brunch and dinner menu for the times before peak bar hours. This restaurant is located up in sheung wan which could take a little time to get to from the MTR station. But given how far away it was and there was still a line to get in, I think you know Blue Supreme means business. We couldn’t help ourselves so we got two brunch sets valued at 258 per person (there’s still service charge) just to try as much as we can off the menu. StartersTater tots is amazing. I don’t know how to explain their genius of how they made a dish so simple taste so good. It was a mixture of the perfect size of the tater tots with a good nacho cheese base. The cheese itself was also worthy of praise since it wasn’t those cheap nacho cheeses that get thick and gooey fast. This is my recommendation for the starter if you decide to get the brunch setThe cauliflower hummus was also an equally amazing choice. This is one of the smoothest hummus I have had in ever. I’m not even sure how they managed to get the hummus tastes so good and so smooth. There is a caveat. The tortilla chips that came with it was not good. It was bland and too hard to be a good compliment to the hummus dish. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. So we did what every sane person would do and ate all the hummus without the tortilla chips.MainsThe kimchi shashuka. You could tell that it’s a staple dish at blue supreme given that the amount of people that have ordered this dish. You have got to admit it looks absolutely gorgeous and I can confirm it tastes just as it looks. I loved the bread that came with shashuka quite simply because I like good bread. The kimchi flavour was not obvious but I do like the dish overall. I’m not sure what their secrets are for this dish but this is something I don’t think I could ever replicate at home. The herby mushroom toast. Did I like it? Eh. Was it good? It was alright. Was there anything mind blowing about this dish? Not really. Would I pay 138 HKD to get this dish a la carte? Most likely not. It was a mushroom toast and that was it. There wasn’t anything special to it nor was the bread toasted properly. The eggs were eggs, also nothing special to it. This is a dish that I think most of us can make and of a similar quality. The dessertHonestly the highlight of the meal. This was the best thing that came to our table. The cookie was absolutely amazing and melted right in our hands. The chocolate was still melting and it just smelled gorgeous. The milk was also mint infused so you get this hint of mint when you dip your cookie into the cup. Makes for a perfect meal. This dessert right here is worth visiting for. You have to get this if you’re lucky enough.Overall experience.I can only say that perhaps 258 per person for brunch is slightly over the top. Given that tater tots was 72 and the herby mushroom toast was 138, it is reasonably priced for what you get. However the amount of food that came is beyond the portions of two people. I suggest you get two mains and a starter with dessert instead of two of each. …Read More

Kailash Parbat
2020-09-17
Kailash Parbat is one of those restaurants that have a lot of reviews and you just itch to try it out. It is situated upstairs so you will need to take a lift to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and open and they fully utilised the space to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I quite like the ambience with music not too loud and chairs that are comfortable. Every table has a bottled water that you could open, but you could always just ask for tap and they’ll give you water. But you’ll need to constantly ask for more water as they seem to encourage you to open their bottle water for extra.Tikki ChaatI liked it but I didn’t love it. The flavours were amazing. It had that Indian blend of chickpeas and yoghurt which really complements one another. There were quite a few crispy bits to the dish which I thought gave the dish more texture. It was aromatic and delicious but just not my cup of tea. I personally don’t like the yoghurt too much but that is more about my personal preferences rather than their ability to execute a good dish.Pav bhajiThis was my favourite and I’m not gonna hide it. I like garlic and even when I cook at home I’m really generous with the garlic. This dish is made of vegetables and garlic but at just the right amount. It’s not strong enough to make you ward off vampires, but it was a good amount of herbs and seasoning that made me asking for more. I didn’t like the bread all too much, so I had this with the garlic naan. The bread was well made and fluffy but I would prefer this dish with naan insteadSaag paneerI had this dish last time I came to Kailash Parbat, and this time around it was wayyyyyy too salty. Did they accidentally drop all the salt into their curry? Maybe. I didn’t have enough naan to neutralise the saltiness that came from this dish. The last time I came, this dish was nicely made with a good balance of spinach and paneer. The paneer could have been better both times around. I hope that the last time I came was the standard and not this overly salty dish.Garlic naanI didn’t like it too much. I like the base. As in the naan is good. Get it please to compliment your curries. It’s a must get, I won’t deny that. As a garlic naan, it’s lacking. It didn’t have that aroma that comes with a good garlic naan which is disappointing. You could also barely taste the garlic which is weird since you can clearly see the garlic on the service. Perhaps this was the side effect of eating the Pav Bhaji first, but I was all in all expecting a better garlic naan.Would I recommend you to come to Kailash Parbat? Sure why not. It’s well recommended and they serve great Indian food. At its price point, it’s worth to come again. It’s a little sad how empty it was when I went given peak Covid times. Please support local restaurants.…Read More

Treehouse
2020-09-16
I honestly was not expecting to write a review for treehouse at basehall given that it’s a food court. I only took photos of the menu and the amazing margherita pizza. Basehall itself is an amazing food hall. It looks amazing, you can self serve tap water or sparkling! Which is amazing. There are plenty of options and an online menu where you can check out everything there. The small problem with treehouse at basehall is that you can’t use your membership discount there, at least when I went that was not available. But I nonetheless still got their basehall exclusive pizza options. And I have got say, this is the best vegan pizza out there. It is also one of my favourite pizza in general, that also happens to be vegan. My god, the problem with vegan pizza is that they can’t replicate the base and the cheese but I am plenty surprised at how good they were able to recreate those flavours. The pizza smelled great and it is certainly something I will recommend for you to try.Personally not a fan of how long it took especially since there weren’t any other orders, but watching the staff make this dish fresh made it worth it. …Read More

Worth the hype
Baked
2020-09-16
Baked is one of those brunch places that you have seen in nearly every blog or magazine. Is it that great? Yes. It absolutely is. You can tell that the food must be amazing given how small the restaurant is but it is always jam packed with people waiting in line. Seriously can’t emphasise how many people are constantly lining up just to try this place out. We went at 11ish and there was already a line waiting, we managed to go in quick since we were two people and had a nice comfortable seat. The restaurant is small and tight. The service was commendable with food coming quickly.Oh my godThis dish was a truffle cream sauce on portobello mushroom with poached egg and rocket. Served on what I consider one of the best sourdoughs in Hong Kong. Honestly the sourdough at baked is by far one of the best due to how perfectly toasted it is. It isn’t difficult to cut nor too hard from over cooking, always cooked to perfection. The dish will make you say oh my god due to the rich creamy flavours and certainly one of the dishes I would recommend getting. You are getting your moneys worth here.Baked eggs on sourdoughDid I cheat and change the brioche to a sourdough? Yes, and that is baked’s fault for making the sourdough so good. I asked for a change in bread and they were kind enough to accommodate. Best service ever. The egg was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly with cheese and herbs. It was so fragrant you could smell the dish coming to your table. I personally preferred the baked eggs over the oh my god simple due to how well the eggs were done. The serving size at baked are always so generous and that’s why you know everyone is lining up for a good brunch that is worth the time and money. Should you try baked? Yes. Should you be reasonable and come early so you don’t have to wait in line for 1-2 hours? Definitely …Read More

Mixed cuisine
Katong Corner (Telford Plaza)
2020-09-16
Katong is a run of the mill restaurant that does not really have an identity. Judging by its menu, you won’t be able to tell what cuisine it does. There is laksa and Thai chicken curry. Seems like a fusion restaurant with different types of south East Asian cuisine. That’s not a problem if executed well but that is simply not true. I don’t think the food at this restaurant is simply good not worth it. We came and had three mains and four sides. SidesWe ordered a few sides which includes chicken skewer, mini bak kut tei, garlic Chinese kale, and pomelo salad. Out of all of these options the garlic Chinese kale was the best not because they did anything special to it, but because it was average. The mini bak kut tei, didn’t really taste much like bak kut tei. The chicken skewer was also acceptable but I wouldn’t pay 38 dollars for those few small pieces. The pomelo salad was also disappointing at its price point. I suggest not to order any of the sides as I haven’t found a single one that is truly worth it. The Chinese kale is a good choice for fibreMainsWe ordered Singapore laksa, crab fried rice, and Thai green chicken curry for our mains. The Singaporean laksa was okay. Did I enjoy it? Meh. I don’t think it tasted like laksa much but the ingredients was acceptable. The crab fried rice tasted more like fried rice with crab which was disappointing. Usually the smell and flavour of the crab can really help elevate the flavour. The Thai style green chicken curry was pretty meh. We asked for the change from rice to roti but that was an additional 20 dollars. I can’t believe that I had to pay an extra 20 dollars for a low quality roti that didn’t taste like roti. The curry itself was acceptable but without anything to pair it with, it was difficult to eat. The chicken and other ingredients inside the curry was also just okay. OverallWould I recommend anyone to come to this restaurant? Hmm, not really. It wasn’t the cheapest option or the best option at its price point.…Read More

Oh Sushi and Tappas
2020-09-16
Sushi & tappas is a Japanese restaurant at cyberport. It has a wide arrangement of sushi and sashimi with lovely set meals options during lunch time. The place filled up during lunch hour with people waiting outside which is impressive during COVID times. Loved the environment and the atmosphere, but the service could honestly be a lot better. It might be cause they were understaffed but no one ever refilled our water. The food however came timely and was fresh. The grilled salmon steak with assorted sashimi was 148 HKD, it came with a salad and miso soup. The salad was decent. Nothing too special about it, the dressing was okay with a few cornflakes. The miso soup was also okay. Not a lot of extra ingredients inside, just plain miso soup. All in all the starters were okay. Nothing more and nothing less. The set option I chose came with assorted sashimi of four pieces. This was honestly the best part of the meal. It was fresh sashimi so that was highly appreciated. The salmon steak was however mighty disappointing. The food wasn’t great at its price point. The size of the salmon steak was on the smaller side with an average teriyaki dressing. The dish came with a lot of side vegetable which is okay. I personally enjoy having a lot of veggies on my plate but I could imagine others not appreciating that fact as much. Would I get this dish again? Most definitely not. Was it an issue of the price point? Not really, I would prefer to try something else on the menu. Most likely their sushi option since it looks a lot better.…Read More
