…Read More

Shameful to serve bad ingredients at such price
Kakure Japanese Cuisine

Visited this sushi place for my birthday lunch and it's food quality was a huge letdown. Ordered japan wagyu set and all beef were dry and chewy, while my deluxe sushi set tasted worst than frozen takeaway, all ingredients were not   fresh, poorly cut and sushi rice hard as rock. The only dish taste decent was sesame pudding, service was attentive overall. Price cost 20% more compare to popular sushi places in Henry House and Cubus, but quality worse than supermarket takeaway.…Read More

Very disappointing !!! MSG should be banned !!
Dragon Seal Restaurant & Bar

One of the most overrated and over charged chinese restaurant in HK!!!Having my partner's bday celebrated in here was my biggest mistake....Booked and confirmed in person for a window seat table over a month ago and turned out giving me a table farest from window and nearest to washroom even i arrive the restaurant on time !!! What's the point of booking?? Since trying to impress my partner by the view was failed, I acrossed my finger wishing food would come up fine, but turned out even worse. Most of the signature or recommended dishes listed in openrice does not exist, even signature dishes in the menu were not offered that night. (could you imagine half of the menu wasn't available on fri nite??)Here's what we've ordered"Yam with strawberry sauce - sauce taste good, but no different from strawberry jam, whole combination isn't bad but overpricedTempura shrimp with wasabi sauce - taste good but ordinary, many restaurants could do similar, they should do it right for the price tagTheir award winning dish (sorry i forget the name as it's sounds too fancy), a pot of rice in lobster/seafood broth with crispy chunks added -- taste not bad, but ordinary and salty, then nitemare came...Couldn't imagine after finishing the rice, i got so thirsty and craving for water whole nite !!! Even 2L of water before bed couldn't cure my tongue drynessI would never trust food commercial or so call food expert interview.....A modern chinese fine dining should not use heavy MSG!!!They concentrate in selling set dinner, please prepare even ordinary menu price might cost higher than michelin stars. And restricted choices from A La Cart menu makes it a joke. eq. signature BBQ pork sold out at 8?Service level has no difference from any maxim chains.Only go there if you want to pay huge bucks to spoil ur nite.…Read More

Fabulous food from a hidden gem !
Bistronomique

Went with my family over a month ago (sorry for the late comment, their food suddenly came across my mind and pursuing me to give them a star) and dinner came out to be extremely satisfying. The restaurant offer wide range of small plates at reasonable price which really suitable for couples who love to explore their taste buds without hesitation. And every dishes are perfectly executed (presentation, temperature and taste) with passion.Recommended small plates:Cod in mashed potato spread: creamy texture with outstanding flavor of cod A+Pan fried frog leg: crispy on the skin, meat remain super juicy and tender (a lot of french cuisine overcook frog leg or leave a bitter after taste, but not in this one) A+Foie gras terrine: again silky smooth texture with just right amount of flavor. Feel like heaven. A+Main dish: Roast chicken in vegetable broth (for 4), ingredients taste fresh and meat was very tender. The manager claimed the veggies and chicken were all imported from France.Dessert was Napolean and lemon tart: Not remarkable but overall delicious !Service was superb and professional. Servers are all hk locals, presentable, well trained with good knowledge of their menu, also appreciate their interaction with customers for feedback, not overly attentive but feel warm. Unlike some pretentious fine dine hiring southeast asian server who can't even speak english properly. Another bonus for not forcing (or pressuring) customers to order distilled/sparking water.Overall, I highly recommend this cuisine and hope the owner would keep up with the quality, and i would definitely come back again !! A+++…Read More

Traditional british food?
Harrington's
2012-10-05
My partner and I visited this place 2 months ago and amazed by it's relaxing environment even sitting in bar area. Unfortunately food wasn't up to standard especially with the price. Claiming themselves as serving traditional British food, I was surprised to see its menu without Yorkshire pudding. Anyway, we finally ordered seafood pie which taste alright, any seafood sauteed with heavy cream sauce could never goes wrong. Second, we've ordered Roasted chicken in half. The chicken tasted not as good as it looked. Meat was dry and tough like being frozen for ages. Thirdly, came to our Black Pork Belly, meat taste fresh but skin was chewy like plastic. (even knife for steak couldn't slice off the skin, probably need a saw! ) Finally we ordered Fish and Chip, which was their signature and also most depressing. Fish texture was soggy and chips were extremely burnt! None of the restaurants in Central could go wrong with chips !!! All the chips along with every dishes were overcooked in here, even the smallest pub could do better.I'm not sure if i would give it a chance...…Read More

Jimmy's Kitchen

One of the most overrated restaurant in Hong Kong !!!My partner ordered the 3 courses set dinner in $328 under the promotion of BOC. Appetiser was duck foie gras terrine with toast, which taste fine but the veggies along with the toast taste bitter and salty.. The main dish was pan fried cod, pretty sure you could get much better ones from citysuper. For myself, I've ordered Herring for starter, taste ordinary and texture was soggy.Steak Diane was the most upsetting dish for the dinner, remind me of those below $100 dinner set in some local "soya sauce" steakhouse. But this restaurant charge $340 for two thin pieces of chewy steak similar to "chinese style beef with tomato onion sauce". Pls don't get me wrong, as i love chinese style too, but normally only cost around $90 for a huge plate, while here you could get 2 slices only for almost price at 4 times! The server claimed it was beef tenderloin but it looks nothing like one. Finally came with the dessert, at least sth taste comforting. Ginger crumble with vanilla custard, didn't taste surprising but still pretty good.Coffee at the end was bitter than my mom's chinese herbal medicine and we couldn't take more than one sip even with sugar and cream.Bill came up to over $900 including discount. Pretty sure there are much better choices out there for this price, eg. Watermark (they make excellent Dry aged filet mignon which cost the same). Even another overpriced but chic restaurant St Betty serve better meal. Respecting it's historical background as a traditional fine cuisine in the old days, it's important to maintain quality ingredients even without fancy settings to keep up with it's high price and stay competitive. Service is acceptable and the lady serving bread has great smile. I'll give one star for the cushiony sofa and quiet environment.Wish it luck...…Read More
