Local restaurant tasting.....
Rocoma Kitchen
2017-12-12
My second time visiting this restaurant for lunch, the 1st time was about half year ago.....I'm pretty disappointing this time that the food quality has dropped alotI remembered that last time when I visited there, they felt like a higher class Hk style restaurant. They offered some steaks and beef on bones which tasted quite good though they're bit more expensive than other restaurants here in Kwun tong, which is mostly office of small to medium manufacturing businesses. The restaurant is in a new commercial building and it's very spacious and bright, I found it a good place for a casual quick lunch. However this time when I revisited, the steaks brought up didn't look as good any more, and the quality of other food now becomes just like other local restaurantshope it'll bring the standard up next time I have the chance to try again.....the pork chip are too dry :(…Read More

One of the chained local restaurants I like visiting :)This restaurant serves famous Hk local foods such as milk tea, fish ball noodles and crispy bund with condensed milkThey've many branches, some very old traditional local "tea house" style where people shares the same small round table and densely packed together; some like this one in the edges of CWB ---newly renovated, very roomy and modern. Once in a month I'll go here for a simple dinner with friends for a little catch up~~~The boneless chicken set tastes really good here. I'd say the quality of most of the food they provide are above average (for the standard of local chained restaurant).Good place to blend into HK life style:)…Read More

Thai Simple Kitchen

Visited this Thai restaurant last week to have a beer & nice chat with friends.Up in a commercial (?) building among mini bus stops & hawkers stores in the street, the lift door opened & shows us a completely different zone. The restaurant is well decorated in a Thai style---wood crafts, green plants and paintings/ statues of Buddha ~~~it has lots of indoor seats & also a outdoor area which is also well decorated We ordered a beer tower (with around 4 glasses of beer) and a few dishes The food tasted as usual Thai restaurant standards and the presentation is good:)Would visit again…Read More

A welcoming Authentic Japanese noodle house
Mitsubaya
2017-12-07
A rather cozy small restaurant I entered weeks ago without any expectations. Walking by during lunch hour and saw that the restaurant looks clean with comfortable seats and a menu with English on it~ ~~there are not much restaurants near my office building have proper English on the menu, so I give it a try. I like Japanese cuisines so I don't worry about the food, but I do always look for better service experience in common local restaurants, but it seems not an an easy task in small district like North point.....is that too much to ask for🤔Anyways, a young man brought me to my seat and in surprise he responded quite fluently in English once he noticed that I prefer to use English The restaurant was quite busy during lunch hour but the staffs were running it well in order--hot tea and menu was served right after I was seated and they did spare an eye on me to take my order when I was ready. and a small plate of Japanese appetiser was served immediately after the order was made.I had a tempura cold udon and a hot coffee. The food does reminds me of the taste that I had in Japan during travels. Not many Japanese restaurants here in HK did that, and they're all way pricier than this one! I'm satisfied with the lunch, the staffs are polite and will definitely visit again.Saw later on that most of the staffs could speak English well! They have proper dinner served with sake, Japanese whisky and beer at evenings. It will be a very good option if you're looking for a Japanese restaurant to chill in a inexpensive way:)…Read More

The Optimist
2017-12-04
I had a great evening in the Optimist, and am quite surprised to read plenty of criticism on the service, but I guess some people will find the "joke" of those waiters a bit annoying but the ladies in my table enjoyed that well and true I personally don't like the fact that they put us at the top level of the restaurant when I saw , during the walk, that the middle floor was actually almost empty the time we arrived by booking at a rather early time (6:00pm). I saw that when I left, the middle floor was mostly foreigners & I don't know if that is a discrimination or just a coincidence. But despite that little crack, the food does left me a strong good impression so I'd will definitely visit again when I'm going to have a well dinner but not too frequently as the spending is afterall above my average dining expenses …Read More
