Disappointing 服務出奇地差,真可惜

Noticed that there is a new Italian restaurant in Taikoo Shing. The restaurant décor looked quite nice, sort of upmarket with the dark wood, which gives the impression that it is a classy restaurant. Some of the items on the set menu looked tempting, and the price seemed reasonable, but need to be wary of the add-on price depending on which item you choose from the menu.We arrived promptly when the restaurant opened. The staff took a long time to seat the customers, but thought maybe he just needed a bit of time to warm up.For starters we ordered the soup of the day (pumpkin soup) and the chicken caesar salad. For main course, we ordered the prawn and scallop fettuccini and the slow-cooked pork loin.While waiting, some of the staff stood near our table to chat rather loudly among themselves. That was an early indicator of sub-standard service. The staff seemed to enjoy moving very swiftly, but without warning. A number of times, a plate of food would be shoved right in front of me without any warning. If i had moved my head forward at that time, likely there would have been a collision. 😥 It is basic courtesy, to at least say something, maybe "excuse me", or "here is your starter", and maybe followed by introducing the dish to the customer. Unbelievable they did not even train their staff to do such simple things. We subsequently decided to go somewhere else for waffles rather than have dessert at this restaurant, and those staff were much more polite and patient with their customers even though they only charged half the price.To make matters worse, one of the staff may have fallen ill. Initially, she kept sniffling when she was standing near me (our table was next to their work station). Then she started coughing as well. I sympathise that someone ill still have to go to work, but when you work in the food industry, especially at a restaurant that charges on average $250 to $300 per person, how can you expect your customers to enjoy their meal with someone coughing and sniffling next to you. 😥 I was surprised she did not even wear a mask. 😥ok, back to the food . . . the pumpkin soup was no surprise . . . not very hot and not much flavour . . . similar to what you can buy from the supermarket. The salad was ok, the chicken was tender and had some flavour. For the main course, the prawn and scallops were delicious. They could have given two prawns instead of one (ok to charge $88 extra instead of $68). The pasta was interesting, it tasted ok, but not as fresh as expected. Not sure if they made it fresh. The slow-cooked pork loin was tender, but had too much fat. Better to cut out and not eat the fat portion as the texture was a bit rubbery. With the poor service and the constant coughing and sniffling, we decided not to have dessert or coffee. By the way, it was strange this new Italian restaurant was offering grapefruit cake/pudding for dessert in their set menu rather than tiramisu, which was featured in one of their posters.All in all, it was puzzling why the restaurant owner would invest in such a nicely decorated and well-located restaurant with nice food but such poor service. Inconsistent in quality of food and service

Can describe this restaurant with one word: Inconsistent.In the past month, have visited this restaurant every week during the weekend. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the quality of the service differs substantially, depending on which day you visit. It would appear that the food and service on Sunday seem to be better than on Saturday.Today (Saturday), we visited the restaurant with anticipation as our previous visit was on the previous Sunday.To avoid all the food (hot and cold) arriving at the same time, we decided to order sashimi first, followed by the hot food later. We ordered their signature 5 sashimi platter, with large fatty tuna, salmon, scallop, yellow tail, and sweet shrimp. We ordered (a la carte) extra salmon and scallop since they tasted exceptionally fresh last time.Unfortunately, the large fatty tuna was a disappointment. Despite the high price, there were ligaments, causing it difficult to chew. The salmon and scallops were not as fresh as last time. The yellow tail and sweet shrimp were fine (better than expected).Then, for main course, we ordered the Premium Seafood Don and the Prawn Tempura Don. The salmon and scallops were a disappointment again, not fresh at all. Probably accentuated by the heat of the rice underneath. Again, the sweet shrimp and the yellow tail were fine.The prawn tempura was delicious. The prawns were quite large. The sweet potato tempura was good as well. However, instead of providing a bowl of sauce for customers to dip their tempura, they pour a bit of sauce on top of some of the tempura. It would have been better to provide the sauce on the side.We also ordered a side dish of Crab Croquette. It was creamy inside and tasted quite nice. However, despite it small size, it was quite heavy. Ordering one to share was already enough.To be fair both the quality of the food and the quality of the service were excellent on the previous Sunday. However, for a restaurant charging at this price level, and promoting itself as an authentic Japanese restaurant that use "only the freshest and most seasonal seafood imported from Hokkaido everyday", there is still room for improvement in maintaining quality of food and service. …Read More

香港近年都開左好多間兩餸飯既店舖。最近天后開左間新既,應該係依區第一間兩餸飯。 行過見佢店舖面積比一般大,乾淨同企理,選擇又多,決定試下如何。 買左兩盒兩餸返屋企食,點知有意外驚喜,真係好食,而且份量夠大。依家平均一星期都會食兩次。😋So far 食過好食既餸包括:梅菜扣肉 😋 番茄炒蛋 👍 西檸雞 😊 天后好多店舖都比較早關門。試過有一晚夜左收工,仲未食飯,但係發覺好多店舖,包括燒味舖,快餐店都已經無野食。好彩佢地重開門,而且仲有餸賣。😅…Read More

Arrived and was immediately taken aback by the decoration and environment. Looked more like a cafe at the airport or exhibition centre. Looked at the lunchtime yumcha menu, nothing out of the ordinary other than the price. Decided to give the usual dim sums a try (蝦餃,燒賣,腸粉) and was recommended to order their signature roast goose. The food arrived, looked quite ordinary, and tasted quite ordinary as well.
