Excellent Service
Eurasian
2005-03-22
This is more like a Nepalese rather than Indian. We spoke to the Nepalese manager, she is very friendly and nice to us. We ordered a "Momo" as the appetizer, it looks very much like chinese dumplings, and was served with a spicy pumpkin sauce. Taste is good but a little too greasy. For main we had the lamb curry and some garlic naan. The naan bread was excellent, very soft and tasty. The manager even sent us some Nepalese herbal tea with milk after our dinner-free of charge. I think it's great value for the price, I will definitely come back again.…Read More

Too Noisy!
Post 97
2005-03-01
Expect crowded and noisy in this ordinary-nothing special restaurant. It is very conveinently located if you're having drinks/hanging out at LKF. But really nothing very tasty on the menu, it usually take a long time to decide coz there's nothing that catch your eyes. Service was pretty friendly and attentive. But don't go there if you're on a date or want to talk intimately .…Read More

Always crowded!
Jaspas Restaurant
2005-03-01
This restaurant is always crowded, probably because their large portion but very tasty Fushion dishes with a touch of spice. I've dine here numerous times, tried many of their dishes but never had one that taste bad, so it's pretty reliable. Service is just standard, nothing more, nothing less. But I do agree that service tends to be slightly better when you go with a foreigner or speak English.…Read More

Good but Expensive!
Jimmy's Kitchen
2005-02-28
It was years ago when I first visited Jimmy's Kitchen, the only thing I remember clearly was the baked potato, why? because the waiter would come by with sour cream, beacon and chives and then ask you if you's like some...one by one in that order. This time I ordered the onion soup, and a crab canneloni (not sure if that's the correct spelling) both pretty nice, too much cheese for lunch though. Decor, food, and service were all pretty good, but a little pricey. …Read More

CNY Gathering
Chao Inn
2005-02-15
I think the service was really poor. Our waitress looks unhappy and she doesn't pay attention. Look, we orderd 6 dishes all together, the first 3 dishes came quickly, but the white rice we ordered didn't come until we almost finish; and those are dishes that should be accompany with rice. Then some of my friends ordered a 2nd bowl of rice, but it took them so long for that we finished those dishes by then, but the other 3 dishes took a long time to come. Then my friends were just staring at the white rice until it gets cold! We were so annoyed because I think it's just a very simple service if you pay more attention, why is it so difficult to serve rice WITH the dishes if they would just pay a little attention? So even though the food is not bad and price is cheap, I think I'll still put this place on my black list.…Read More

Mostly Western customers!
Lucy's
2005-02-14
The location of this place is very discreet, but it's a very popular restaurant, it was all packed when I got there around 8:30pm, better to make reservation ahead of time. It's small but cosy, it has a simple country style decoration. The menu is small but done nicely and creatively. I liked the seared scallops salad and the cod fish with a lime, coconut and light curry sauce. Dessert was creme bulee also done European style. I "almost" forgot I was in HK if not for the Chinese waiters, which they provided very friendly and attentive service. …Read More

Chinese New Year Eve!
Byte bar + cafe
2005-02-12
It was extremely quiet this evening and was expected. Everyone is having their family dinners this night. There were only 3 tables all night from 8:30 until 10:00pm. But it is nice sometimes to escape from the crowd in HK so I didn't mind. The food is quite decent but nothing exceptional. We ordered a tuna with tobasco salsa tapas, beef carppacio, lamb chops, and a lamb curry with naan bread. The menu is very similar to their sister restaurants (Cafe Deco and Peak Cafe) but better. Also their price is cheaper too, I think. So overall it's a good choice if you want a quiet evening away from the noise and crowd. BTW, drinks from the bar are too light, they need to make it a little stronger.…Read More

Jazz club in TST
Ned Kelly's Last Stand
2005-02-07
Honestly, I can't give any comment on the food as I never try any food here. I just come here for the music and a few drinks. They have one of the best Jazz band in HK since there aren't many around. (if someone knows any better ones, please let me know, thanks) Yes, the decoration is old and rubbish, but thats how a jazz/blues bar should feel like anyway. I'm giving it a big smile!…Read More

Cheap dinner in CWB
Hak Ka Hut
2005-02-07
OK, the overall ambience is like most Chinese restaurants which is crowced and way too noisy, so it's best when going with a big group. Food is generally very good for the price. But I had a bad impression when they run out of certain dishes (quite often), but sometimes they don't tell you until you ask about it, happened a few times already. But seriously, it is still a good value for the money you pay, it is around $100 per person for a decent meal in Causeway Bay. …Read More

New York Style Italian cuisine.
Rughetta Ristorante
2005-02-07
Thanks to all the good comments, I decided to try this Italian restaurant. It's so true that the entrance is very discreet, as I pass by here a hundred times and never really notice it. The ambience reminds me of the Italian restaurants in Little Italy of NYC, the "Godfather" style. We tried the Caprese & Carppacio as appetizer, both are quite nicely done, mozzarella cheese & beef was very fresh. We also order the pasta with foie gras, and pasta in white clam sauce, quite tasty but the pasta foie gras was kind of heavy as the cream sauce was very thick and a bit oily. After this extra creamy pasta,I wasn't able to try any dessert. Must come back again to try it some time. …Read More

Big group dinner.
the WoodStone
2005-02-04
A group of 12 people, celebrating a friend's birthday. As usual, we order many different dishes and everyone just try a bit of each. There were nothing surprisingly good as I remembered. We tried some pasta, pizza, steak, and their wood grilled dishes. Personally I prefer their pasta, creative and tasty, worst was pizza, don't like it's texture and ingredient. But the price is unbeatable....we order so much food and drinks (non-alcoholic) and it was only $180 per head. …Read More

Party!
Db Decibel
2005-02-02
Haha...I'm surprise to see this bar listed here! Well, I went to a birthday party last weekend, there were at least 20 of us, we booked the private room and they charged a fixed price for all you can drink all night (beer, wine & cocktails). It is totally worth it, we did drank quite a LOT!!! But only becasue one of my friend knows the owner that they gave usthis offer. We had so much fun, singing & dancing wildly in our own privacy. Service was good too, they kept changing our glasses and brought in jars of drinks...non-stop! It looked very crowded outside, I normally wouldn't go there if we didn't have the private room. Excellent choice, thanks! …Read More

Saturday Brunch
Scirocco
2005-02-02
Nice balcony...that's about it! Brunch is very ordinary, no surprise...we ordered speanish omlette and eggs florentine or benedict (i think), food was just ok. Service was ok, like everyone's comment, not too great, not much better then the cafe downstairs. I went with a westerner, the waitress are nicer to him, I guess because they usually tip them better. But, at least the cappaccino is quite good. …Read More

Great Burger
Archie B's
2005-02-02
Another lazy Sunday....went to Archie B for brunch around 4pm. I like to sit outside if the weather is nice. Been here so many times, still always crave for their huge cheese burger($50), it's big enough to share among 2 girls, great value!!! Plus an order of the Caesar salad ($55), it's very creamy and cheesy, the portion is quite small though. Best burger for the price, many other options of sandwiches, reminds me of NY Deli. …Read More

Reliable
Tomi Sushi Japanese Restaurant
2005-02-01
This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in HK. Always reliable for fresh sashimi, it is highly recommended to sit at the sushi bar and let the chef pick the best selection for you. The friendly chef is like a friend now, we can trust him for really fresh and unique sashimi. Price is fairly reasonable for the quality of food. Don't miss the fresh fruit sorbet for dessert. Tried their Shabu Shabu once too, it is a better alternative to the noisy and crowded chinese hot pot when it's cold outside . …Read More
