Perfect weather for a BBQ experience with family during our Easter break while biking over to this area. Pleasantly surprise with the lady boss whose pleasant and welcoming smile and features greeted at the entrance. This - already worth a second visit! We were quickly whisked to our seatings area and the bbq stove was amazingly quick to heat up! Was pleasantly surprise to find such a great find for taki here at fanling especially when we love Japanese food. While service was considered alright for a residential restaurant, the food quality pretty much compensated for the overall. The interiors decorated with sumo mario wall paintings also reflect that this restaurant does put some emphasis on ambience. We tried the teriyaki, sushi roll , tempura and none of these dishes disappoint us. Especially satisfied with the Yakitori standards and thought it is almost on par with some of restaurants we have been to , but in central and other districts. Overall, having taki opening up at fanling serves us an additional choice and reason for dining ay our residential area on weekends. We made a random choice to try Silencio on a Thursday night after all, knew they had a new Japanese head chef. This trip and our first try at Silencio , was definitely worth it! Thumbs up to their front of house for the pretty decent floor service to recommending through their signatures and including cocktails. Ambience was great and is a perfect place for conversations and the seats spacing between was just perfect for the privacy and comfort. Every aspect from trying their signature wagyu sando (this just simply blew us off!!) to tempura and cocktails, every dish and drink we were recommended didn’t disappoint us. After all the media boost and talk of the town of Aubrey, we decided to try Aubrey after all it was our wedding anniversary and we love Japanese cuisine. What a disappointment starting from the moment we enter the restaurant till we are seated down, we have not experienced any kind of the service which we do expect considering this is within a five star hotel? Service was bad, seats were low and uncomfortable and pretty much we are like a neglected set of customers left on the own looking at the menu , wondering what to order when clearly staff who walked pass would have seen we are tying to figure out what to order? Down to the dishes. Disappointment and we have not tried such a soggy type of lobster fried rice or $498 for a plate of simple fried tempura selections. As for the rest of the dishes we have tried - it is the same feedback from the above. Overall, it was such a disappointing first experience coupled with a special occasion that we had to make do with a second meal elsewhere, paying $2000 for this experience is such a let down. Was passing by soho area and wanted to grab an early dinner and since we wanted to see how their emperor type of menu looks like we decided to drop by. but well, I thought it was just a so - so mainly because we were given the right in the middle high seats which wasn’t comfortable at all. However we quite like this really friendly customer service by one of their staff. Well, have got to say that their donburi portions were quite huge and value for money though at $118 and large portions of chicken thigh meat.
