Lawry's The Prime Rib Review – A Novice's Take
Lawry’s The Prime Rib
2025-06-24
I tried Lawry's HSBC's credit card one-for-one menu and loved it! The blue prawn tartare with caviar was fresh and luxurious, while the scallop tartlet and crabmeat avocado roll were delicious starters. The spinning bowl salad was fun to watch and crisp. The clam chowder was creamy and rich. The star—California cut prime rib—was tender, juicy, and perfectly roasted. Ending with the coconut honeydew dessert was refreshing. Also added lobster tail which is flavorsome. Service was attentive, making the experience even better. For a high-quality meal with great value (thanks to the promo!), Lawry's is a must-try for steak lovers! …Read More

Royal Inn Weekend Set Lunch
ROYAL INN
2025-06-11
I tried Royal Inn’s Western set lunch in Causeway Bay and was pleasantly surprised! The soup was creamy and flavorful, while the garden salad was fresh and crisp. The highlight was the grilled Angus steak—juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right (I asked for medium-rare). For a prime Causeway Bay location, the price was reasonable, making it great value for money. The service was friendly, and the cozy vibe added to the experience. If you’re looking for a solid Western lunch without breaking the bank, Royal Inn is a good pick! …Read More

Delightful Fine Dining Experience at SOMM
SOMM
2025-06-09
I recently tried SOMM in Central using BOC HK’s Cheers credit card one-for-one dining offer, and it was fantastic! The meal started with the rich and creamy aka uni "French Toast", a perfect umami bomb. Next, the home-cured tasmanian trout on buckwheat blini was smoky and balanced with tangy pickles. The gamberi rossi linguini had tender prawns and a flavorful yellow wine bisque—so satisfying! The toothfish was buttery with a crispy crust, while the yellow chicken was juicy with a delicious tarragon sabayon. Dessert—the strawberry tart with hibiscus sorbet—was a refreshing end. Service was attentive too! Highly recommend for a special treat!…Read More

Comforting Sichuan Experience in Kwun Tong
Tanyu
2025-06-09
Tanyu is a great spot for hearty Sichuan comfort food! Their grilled fish is the star—flavorful, tender, and packed with spicy, aromatic notes. The portion is generous, making it a good value for money. What makes it even better? The free-flow dessert bar! After the fiery main course, you can cool down with sweet treats like jelly and herbal ice shaving. The casual, lively vibe is perfect for a relaxed meal with friends. As a novice foodie, I found Tanyu to be a satisfying choice—great flavors, filling portions, and a fun dessert bonus! …Read More

HK Cuisine – A Fresh Take on Cantonese Flavors
Hong Kong Cuisine
2025-06-09
I was blown away by Hong Kong Cuisine’s innovative take on Cantonese dishes. Their DiningCity special menu (HKD250/person) was a delight—highlights included the crispy prawn with tropical fruit sauce (perfectly crunchy and tangy) and the luxurious abalone minced pork tart. The red vinegar chicken broth jelly was refreshingly unique. The steamed Sichuan spicy prawn dumpling packed a punch, while the pan-fried satay beef bun was crispy and flavorful. The hairy crab roe rice with fish maw was rich and indulgent. We also loved the extra braised beef rice roll—so tender and unique!Ending with homemade tofu ice cream was genius. A must-try for modern Cantonese cuisine!…Read More

Santorini Greek Taverna Review
Santorini Greek Taverna
2025-06-09
I recently dined at Santorini and loved it! The greek salad was fresh and tasty, with juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and creamy feta cheese—a perfect start. For the main course, the grilled meat platter was amazing! It had tender beef and lamb, juicy chicken, and flavorful sausages, all well-seasoned and grilled just right. The Baklava for dessert was the perfect end—sweet, nutty, and flaky. The service was friendly and attentive, making the meal even better. As a first-time food critic, I highly recommend Santorini for delicious Greek food and a great dining experience! …Read More

Great Deal for Steak Lovers!
TEAHOUSE/BARHOUSE @wellwellwell
2025-06-09
Barhouse@wellwellwell in Pacific Place is a solid choice for a satisfying meal. Their dinner set menu is a great deal—it includes a juicy sirloin steak on a hot plate, fresh bread, soup, free-flow fries, and a drink. The steak was tender, and the unlimited fries were a nice bonus! Happy hour here is fantastic, with affordable drinks and tasty bar bites. The service was friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. If you want good food at reasonable prices in Admiralty, this place is worth a try!…Read More

N+ Burger Takeaway Review (Kennedy Town, HK)
N+ BURGER
2025-06-09
N+ Burger is an okay spot for a quick burger fix, but don’t expect anything amazing. The N+ caramelized union burger had nice sweet onions, but the beef patty was dry and lacked flavor. The N+ cheeseburger was better—the bacon added a nice crunch, but again, the beef was just average. The  Winner Winner chicken burger had way too much batter, making it more crispy coating than actual chicken. The Godzilla fries includes a beef patty with cheese and wasabi sauce but nothing special. For takeaway, it’s decent if you’re craving a burger, but nothing to rave about. Maybe try another spot next time.…Read More

Shanghai Garden is My Happy Place
Shanghai Garden Restaurant
2025-05-15
I eat at Shanghai Garden regularly, and I still get excited every time! Their pan-fried xiao long bao are always perfect—golden and crispy with that amazing burst of soup inside. I can't resist the fried seafood flat noodle, loaded with fresh shrimp and chewy noodles, or the silky bbq pork cheong fun. The har gao and siu mai are my go-to dim sum picks—so juicy! When I want something lighter, the vegetable soup noodle or comforting wanton chicken soup hit the spot. And yes, I’ve learned to love their braised chicken feet —so tender! The oyster omelette  is my guilty pleasure—crispy edges, plump oysters. The servers already know my usual order, and they’re always so warm and quick. 10/10 for service …Read More

AOAO Dining Experience
AOAO
2025-05-02
Had dinner with family at AOAO under Dining City’s restaurant week event. The clam aka miso is a good starter - rich, umami-packed, and comforting. The hairy crab butter udon is the star - creamy, buttery, and generously topped with sweet crab meat, shiraga negi, and a luscious egg yolk. Every bite is indulgent yet balanced. For dessert, the matcha cheesecake is excellent - smooth, bittersweet, and not overly heavy. The attentive staff enhances the meal, making AOAO a good choice for a refined dining experience in Central. As AOAO is a restaurant cum bar concept, it can get noisier as it gets later into the night but the outdoor patio is great for relaxing and taking night scenic photos of Central. …Read More

Lamb Delights in Causeway Bay
Mt. Yotei
2025-04-28
I recently visited Mt. Yotei in Causeway Bay, and it was amazing! The meal started with Homemade Lamb Gyoza—crispy outside, juicy inside. Next, the Awaji Onion Salad was light and fresh with a tasty ponzu dressing. The Sea Snail in Sauce Broth was chewy but full of flavor. The best part was the Premium Lamb Grill Set— different cuts of lamb (my favorite was the lamb tongue!) grilled perfectly. The Japanese Kimchi and Spicy Cod Stomach added a nice kick. The Japanese rice was fragrant and fluffy (owner sourced the best quality rice from Hokkaido). Finally, the Lamb Soup was warm and comforting. The restaurant owners, Clement and Clement, were super friendly and made the meal even better! Highly recommend!…Read More

No Frills, All Flavor: Sun Hing’s Dim Sum
Sun Hing Restaurant
2025-04-25
Even as takeaway, Sun Hing's decades-old dim sum magic shines through. The chicken feet arrive gloriously sticky, steeped in that iconic black bean sauce that clings to every knuckle. Unwrapping the bean curd parcels reveals their treasure - plump fillings of chicken, earthy mushrooms and slippery fish maw in delicate tofu skin. The char siew cheong fun maintains its silky texture despite travel, the sweet barbecued pork peeking through rice noodle folds.  Siew mai burst with their signature pork-shrimp bounce, while the Teochew dumplings offer that perfect chew with their peanut-studded filling. What's remarkable is how these treats survive the journey - the steamer baskets' warmth still evident when we unpacked them at home. That first bite of chicken feet transported us straight to Sun Hing's bustling dining room, where the clinking teacups usually provide the soundtrack. The bean curd rolls had kept their structural integrity, each ingredient's texture distinct yet harmonious. For those craving authentic, old-school dim sum without the daily long queue, Sun Hing's takeaway holds up beautifully. Every bite tastes of tradition - no modern fusion twists, just honest Cantonese craftsmanship that's stood the test of time. Pro tip: Get extra siew mai  - they reheat perfectly for a midnight snack!…Read More

Comfort Food with Attitude: Dining at Frank’s
Frank’s Italian American (雲咸街)
2025-04-25
Frank’s Italian American brings bold, comforting flavors to Central with a lively New York-inspired vibe. The caesar salad kicks things off with crisp romaine, punchy anchovy dressing, and a generous snowfall of Parmesan—a classic done right. The spicy rigatoni alla vodka is a star—al dente pasta swirled in a creamy, tomato-rich sauce with a fiery vodka kick that lingers deliciously. Save room for the —a dreamy, espresso-layered indulgence with mascarpone so light it melts on the tongue. With energetic service and hearty portions, Frank’s delivers unpretentious Italian-American joy. …Read More

A timeless Hong Kong institution, Jimmy’s Kitchen delivers classic comfort with polished service. The king crab leg starter is a luxurious treat—succulent, sweet, and perfectly chilled.
