Awful experience
Brooklyn
2016-08-28
As per my title, quite a bad dining experience from start to finish. There was a long waiting time-expected as it was a Fri. After waiting for an hour, we managed to get a table. Ordered the Blackened shrimp salad for starter, and the mains was Steak Frites and the Honey glazed pork chops. Everything appeared smooth until the food arrived. The salad was a major disappointment. Nice presentation, but I expected a little bit more for a HKD200 'salad'. The portion was small, and it was overdressed. Next came the main course. I had the Steak Frites and again disappointing.....badly cooked steak (not even asked how I wanted it cooked), and it was covered in the mushroom sauce. Average. This is where the problem came; I had nearly finished my main and had to complain to management for my wife's dish. I spoke to the duty manager who gave pathetic excuses that they wanted to wait until we finished our started before the main-funny how my steak came on time, but my wife's took a further 25min! Offered dessert as compensation, which we did not want. When the Pork arrived, it was cooked poorly (dry) and the meat was tough. In summary, a major disappointment and I certainly want be coming back even if it was the last restaurant left in the World! Please avoid and save yourself some money.…Read More

Thai Orchids Cafe & Bar

This is the second time I have visited this restaurant and I have enjoyed eating here on both occasions. I really don't understand the negative reviews regarding the service etc as I have found the waiters and waitresses more than accommodating when I've asked to change tables etc. Ultimately, it is the quality of the food that we should be talking about!! I really enjoy the food here...the prices are more than reasobale, and there is a wide selection on offer. I prefer to have a lot of dishes 'light bites' compared to main courses as I enjoy trying different types of food. The main highlight for me is the 'Bread Pot Curry'. Basically, this is curry in a hollowed out bread. I like this as not only does it look nice, it tastes nice as well!! I'm not sure how authentic the food is for a Thai restaurant, but for certain, this is a really nice restaurant to have a casual meal with friends.…Read More

A lovely Korean restaurant!
Myung Ga Korean Restaurant
2011-07-29
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the restaurant! It was more of an experience than simply having dinner as we we were sat by the window overlooking the harbour at night...it was special! I'm usually worried about going to 'higher-end' restaurants, that are pitched at tourists and the rich, but those fears were swept away as we were warmly welcomed into the restaurant. We were seen to very quickly, and we were served by the head waitress, who recommended various dishes. A plus point was that she suggested we ordered whilst we ate because oredering for a BBQ can be dangerous, and I tend to order more than I should! Anyway, we ordered the usual meat (Korean galbi?) and a pork called 'Five Flower' pork. The meat was presented to us by an attentive Korean waitress who cut the meat in front of us. Besides the meat, as there were only two of us, we ordered a seafood pancake that resembled an omelette and a vermicelli dish...both very nice! Overall, the experience and the meal was nice. Usually, there is a trade-off, but on this occasion, I was not disappointed! Try it for yourself!…Read More
