Vegetarian Delight 😋❤️
Hua Ting
2023-06-11
Nice Shanghai restaurant located at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort where we stayed this weekend. Today is our vegeterian day, we didn't want to explore other hotels so we thought to give it a try at Hua Ting. Eventhough the menu has very limited choice of vegetarian options, but we were able to order few vegetarian friendly dishes, and we enjoyed each dish very much along with a bottle of warmed yellow wine花雕酒. Chef was kind enough to tailor the fried rice without meat for us, it's still taste as good. 😋❤️For Chinese belief a good Chinese restaurant chef must be able to present a plate of perfect fried rice with a taste of wok 有鍋味. If you know what I mean. 👍❤️Service was great, most servers were polite and speak fluent English. We do hope that they would consider adding more vegeterian dishes on the menu.…Read More

Jazz on Kong Stage
SW Steakhouse
2023-06-11
We've been to Wynn Palace Macau’s SW Steakhouse a few times before the Pandemic. I never found the urge to write a review before this. However, because this time was so exceptional, I have decided to write. It was a busy Friday evening in Macau and we didn’t have any dinner reservations plans. So, we would try our luck walking in somewhere. As usual all casino restaurants front desk hostess would tell us that all tables had been fully booked up for the night. Luckily, we did not give up, instead we stayed for a drink at SW and waited for a no show. It turned out, we were right to wait as there were quite a number of cancellations that night. Dinner at SW Wynn Palace has always been a pleasant one, it gives out a Vegas vibe. Since we started pretty early, we were already having dessert by 9pm. But then we were told there was a live jazz performance every Friday and Saturday starting 10pm till 2am. So we ordered more drinks and waited patiently. The band played some of our favourite jazz songs like, Feel like making love and Close to you. Kara Belle the female vocalist was amazing as she blasted out songs from different eras and genres. We were so happy to have discovered SW made the choice to have live music on weekends. The New York skyline backdrop was perfect in setting the mood.We enjoyed it so much, we decided to go back the next day. Amy our sommelier has been really attentive and caring to our needs. Only one minor suggestion to SW is bartending service could be a little more efficient. …Read More

Best Dumpling
Kai Fong Kitchen
2023-06-08
This is most probably one of the best dumpling place my friends and I have ever been to in HK. And my friends are local Hong Konger so if they think it's good then it should be beyond good. 👍❤️ All dumplings were handmade with great passionate. We have tried almost all of the dumplings on the menu, they're all unique, flavourful from the taste, texture and the silky skin of the dumplings. You must try their signature braised pork knuckle too. The other day our volunteer team took a group of elderlies for afternoon tea (Hong Konger like afternoon tea between lunch and dinner) at Kai Fong Kitchen, grandpa's and grandma's really love the pork knuckle dish that they decided to order more for Take Away. 🤭😋❤️Some grandma's even called me few days later, requesting me to bring them back to this restaurant again. 😂❤️ I guess "Home Cooked" foods win over Dim Sum (popular food for afternoon tea) then. 😉…Read More

Lack of Communication
Mesa
2023-04-17
We so much wanted to try this contemporary Portuguese cuisine place at the hotel we stayed but hotel operator or guest services always tells us it's fully booked (till after 14th April 😅) , however everyday during our stay (5th - 9th April) when we passed by (it's next to the pool, gym and spa ) we didn't see many tables of customers, we wonder why? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ One star missing for the lack of communication of the hotel property. ☹️#EasterBreak#Macau#HappyHour…Read More

A Taste of Spring
8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA
2023-04-16
We need 2 to 4 weeks booking in advance if we wish to dine at 8 1/2 Otto Mezzo Bombana in Hong Kong, but not in Macau (by luck) during this Easter holiday.Chef Riccardo specially made a 5 courses vegetarian menu for us which was amazingly delicious! From the gorgeous presentation of each dish to gustatory delights! The garden salad seems like a simple plate of appetiser yet by using fresh ingredients and adding salt, lemon and olive oil, we could taste "Spring" on each bite, simply mesmerising. This is most probably the best tomato salad we've ever tasted so far. Chef also brilliantly turned a morel mushroom dish into a savory meaty work of art.Thank you Chef Ricardo for taking our taste buds on a wonderful journey! And thank you to excellent customer service team! 👏👏👏Marino the GM who welcome each guest like his own house guest, Nancy Wang the restaurant manager who has so much energy! She seems to really love her profession and Gérard our man of the evening, he's very knowledgeable in guiding us through the journey though our foods were not on the menu. We hope we could come back again soon!…Read More

Nothing but the blue
DarkSide
2022-01-01
We’ve been to the Darkside jazz bar at the Rosewood many times since it opened in 2018. Surprisingly, we only discovered Debora Davis last night and she’s been performing 5 nights a week for a few months now. How did we miss her all this time? Luckily, we caught her performing last night. Her vocals and onstage presence was effortless and natural. She really brought us back in time with her renditions of the Blues. Every Thursdays is Blues night. Nothing but the blues. We will definitely go back on Jazz nights as we are big jazz fans. We can’t wait!A shout out to the Darkside frontline team, Sophiya, Pretty and Muna for their great smiles and services. Not to forget Nadiya and Subi who always greets us in friendly manner and finds us the best tables in the house. Another reason we will always patronize Darkside. 27-12-2021…Read More

Delicate and Delightful Vegetarian Night
HEXA
2021-10-23
It's been a while since we last visited Hexa. We forgot how good the food and service was. It was our vegetarian day so it's a bit difficult to find a proper dinner restaurant that serves good vegetarian items and with a nice wine list as well. Haha We were delighted to know that Hexa offers quite a variety of vegetarian appetisers and main courses. Our Server recommended a few popular dishes, which completely satisfied both our tastebuds. It was also visually stunning. Said night we have ordered~GOLDEN BRICK SILKY BEANCURD.The chef use Taiwan organic tofu and their secret spice mix for deep fried ensuring the tofu texture remains soft inside and keeping the crispiness at the same time. JAPANESE LILY BULBS AND CHINESE YAMS WITH SESAME SEEDS SAUCE. We found one of the very refreshing appetisers with silky yams and sesame seeds sauce lifting up our appetite. Our favourite dish of the night was the STEWED EGG WHITE IN JAPANESE PUMPKIN.It’s a popular vegetarian dish that cooks with smashed & diced pumpkin, the egg whites are well wrapped with pumpkins’ sweetness.SAUTÉED KALE WITH GINGER AND BLACK SUGAR.The best part of kale is taken out to stew prior with black sugar & rice wine; which allows the scents and taste of the sauce are well absorbed.SAUTEED EGGPLANT WITH SPICE AND CHILLI. Fresh and plump eggplants are deep fried with garlic; well flavoured with its spiciness and crispiness but eggplants remains tender as possible to create the distinguish texture. It almost has a cheesy consistency and look when you bite into it. Definitely a must try.We will make sure not to wait this long before visiting again.…Read More

Fun Mexican Night
PABLO Modern Mexican Cocina
2021-10-15
We passed by a new restaurant called Pablo at TST East. The place was trendy and modern. Like flies to a light, we were drawn in by the bar with all of the beautiful tequilas, it was calling out our names. 😂😂😂 They happened to have an available table front row and center to the cactus nectar. The bar maestro, Pravat, was not holding back on the drinks for us. Like a seasoned master, he prepared his craft with precision and artistry. With all good Mexican restaurants, we had to try the guacamole, not just any guacamole, table side prepared guacamole. It was fresh and fabulous, a must try. Better with a shot or two or tequila. We had the pleasure of meeting executive chef from Mexico, Gerardo. We talked about his food and source of inspiration for the menu. He wanted to incorporate some local Asian ingredients to create something special of HK patrons. I suggested some wild ideas like roast goose tacos and abalone Ceviches. Lol. 😆😆😆We also had Ruben, the restaurant supervisor, drop by our table to say hello. He’s been in HK for over 30 years and knows everyone in the restaurant industry it seems. Was able to have a drink with Ruben before the end of the night. But the highlight of the night has to be Group GM, Abhijay. Not sure where all his energy comes from but it certainly rubbed off on us. He was friendly and genuine. It seemed like we knew him from childhood. That’s how comfortable he made us feel.Oh, I almost forgot to mention about the great group of singers who serenades the lucky birthday boy or girl at their table with a song that will bring tears to anyone’s eyes.Overall, Pablo was a great discovery in a city of dining treasures.…Read More

CHAAT
2021-10-11
Last Saturday was the first time this year in HK to have typhoon 8 hoisted that lasted the whole day. We didn’t know if the typhoon would die down but decided to hang out at K11 anyways. We already bought tickets the day before for James Bond’s "No time to die". All retail shops not open. Since we were already at K11, we thought it would be a good chance to get a table at Chaat because of T8. We were placed on the waitlist. We thought we we had a high chance to get a call after the show, but sadly no call. We were determined to get a table so decided to walk in and try our luck. We noticed Chaat had converted the lounge and bar area to dining as well, plus taking the private room or rooms at the Bayfare Social. That's how good business has been for them. To our surprise, the familiar senior staff members like Ramone and Zoe still remembers us even though we haven't been there for a while. They still remember our favorite dishes and also that we prefer all non veg dishes to be served at the same time for prayers. Wow!! A fat thumbs up to the Chaat front line team! 👍👍👍❤️ Marissa from Mexico, our table server of the night did an excellent job too. There's a few new dishes on the menu, so we thought to give it a try based on the recommendations by Marissa. We ordered Lamb dum biryani and lobster tikka as main to share. For the veggie dish, we had dal makhani and Punjabi pyaaz. Punjabi pyaaz is a pickled onions prepared with masala spices, we were amazed of how thinly sliced the onions were. The black lentil gravy went really well with the crispy skin that was used as a cover to bake the lamb biryani. We kinda regret not ordering our usual lamb chops when we saw our neighbours chomping down on it. However, we changed our mind once we had the first bite of the delicious lobster. The meat was so fresh, sweet and lean. We loved it! Oh, we also added an appetiser which was the jackfruit samosa. This dish was replaced by the lamb samosa. We couldn't taste any different. It tasted just as good. We had a great night dining at Chaat. Food was consistent and still one of the best Indian food we’ve had in HK. The service team is incredible as usual. Hopefully we will be able to book a table without being placed on the waiting list…again on our next visit.…Read More

Coucou Hotpot‧Tea Break (K11 Art Mall)
2021-09-28
Finally had the chance to try CouCou hotpot place at K11 after several walk in attempts. That was because this time we walked in at 5:30pm 😂😂😂 It was a nice decorated venue. The Taiwanese mince pork served with fragrant rice that was offered at the sauce and spices counter was very good and authentic. There was also a free flow of duck blood and tofu which brought me back to the traditional "Taipei" style hotpot nights! As in the tradition of the Taiwanese Hotpots, we basically helped ourselves with everything from the cutleries inside the drawers at the table to the wet and dry napkins, even plates and bowls. 😁😁😁 Unfortunately, the service was as cold just like the blasting air conditioning. 🥶🥶🥶 The servers gave the ambience that reminded me of the old black and white horror movies where ghosts would float by in the mists. 😂😂😂They just floated by whenever we needed attention. The pond with the dry ice fog was appropriate to add 👻👻👻 to the scary effect. 3 out of 5 if we would rate this place.…Read More

Perfetto 👍❤️
Carbone
2021-09-24
We had an enjoyable night at Carbone last night. ❤️ For some reason the host sat us at the same table we had on our last visit. 😁😁😁 I was pleasantly surprised the servers remembered us. ❤️ We first fell in loved with Carbone the first time we dined in Las Vegas. It was exceptional, from the finesse of the customer service to the culinary journey we were taken on by the chef. Glad that the HK branch was able to deliver the same. ❤️Last night, we were offered complimentary canapés, cheese, desserts, port wine and lemoncello! Haha.. It reminds me of a restaurant that my ex colleagues and I always go to whenever we flew to Milan. Complimentary foods and drinks were generously delivered over and above what we had ordered. 😍😍😍❤️ Love it! ❤️We ordered lobster ravioli to share, grilled snapper oreganata and lamb tomahawk as main, plus a side dish of broccoli. I requested for my fish dish to be well done. It was cooked to perfection to how I like it! We also asked if the broccoli to be slightly undercooked because we liked our vegetable crunchy. We were really happy when a restaurant is able to accommodate all the little customers requests when dining. It's a big plus for the F&B industry. Thank you for a great night! Excellent job to all the front line servers! Even bartenders were really friendly! They greeted the walk in guests and thank them when they were leaving!👍👍👍❤️…Read More

Somm-what dissapointed
SOMM
2021-07-26
We went to Somm for our anniversary. Our decision to try Somm was from all of the positive reviews we read from Google and TripAdvisor. I read all about the personalized service and attention one would get at Somm. We were excited to try a restaurant with such good reviews from the public. Well, we found that to be somewhat misleading. For example, why bother asking about allergies or celebrating any special occasion if the servers have no clue? Where's the "personalized service"? The server was robotic, and his wine recommendations were mediocre at best.It seems every table had ordered the same dishes. Like our neighbors to the left and the right, we had the French sea urchin toast and Bouchot mussels to start, followed by the Japanese-style pork belly with Hakata cabbage and the sake steamed saba mackerel as the main. The Uni toast was tasty, and the mussels were petite. Unfortunately, many of the mussel shells were unopened and not safe to eat. The pork belly with barbecue sauce was just ordinary, nothing close to the "to die for" compliments from the reviews. The steamed mackerel was a disappointing dish; it was slightly fishier than it should be and was way below expectation. We expected a fine dining experience when we were being reminded that there's a dress code when we made the reservation, and the online reviews, somewhat misleading, guided our expectations. I understand new trendy restaurants being on the cutting edge of design, but I draw the line when napkins and utensils are stored in a hidden drawer under the table. I would expect that at a Korean BBQ or a Cha Chaan Teng! The kind of prices Somm charges, I'd expect nothing less than Michelin style quality and service, but instead, we experience a "fine" tribute to the Hong Kong-style cafés. Hate having the feelings of regret leaving actually especially it's our special day. ☹️☹️☹️…Read More

楊記麻辣魚館 (長樂街)
2021-07-10
麻辣魚館 - 佐敦店 is Our favourite Sichuan Spicy restaurant in HK. We always order delivery whenever we do the 21 days "Mandatory Staycation" in HK (twice this year) 😆😆😆 this time we were staying in the Kowloon side for quarantine. It’s more convenient for ordering delicious local foods. The hotel provides us 3 meals a day that’s included in the quarantine package. The hotel food is actually pretty good quality, no complaints. But we’re just dying for an authentic Sichuan foods after being away for more than 3 months. As per our usual order, 串燒羊肉 the lamb cubes skewer is a must, it goes really well with wine 🍷🍷we’ve tried most of the fish dishes on the menu but haven't gotten the chance to try their signature fish 水煮魚~ Sichuan poached sliced fish in hot chili oil. No wonder its the signature dish, the fish fillets were fresh and tender. It's served with many interesting ingredients that you may need to add another bowl of rice to enjoy it! We also ordered the marinated black fungus which is a cold dish, I always order this dish whenever we go to Sichuan restaurant. Black fungus is good for health especially women I was told. And his favourite is the 手撕包菜 shredded cabbage. So I always have to compromise.. Haha.. He just love any crunchy vegetables.5 stars for all the dishes! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😋😋😋…Read More

Yuan Shan Vegetarian
2021-03-20
I went with a couple of friends to Yuan Shan Vegetarian for lunch. We ordered two set lunches and a vegeterian salty fish with chicken cubes fried rice from the ala carte menu. The food was yummy! And reasonably priced with portions large enough to share. After lunch, as we were leaving, we discovered Yuan Shan was giving out complimentary meals to senior citizens. I was so happy to see them giving back to the people in the neighborhood. What a big plus to have discovered that along with a delicious lunch! As an avid volunteer with various charity organizations like the Holy Café and Food Angel, I was so moved to see more and more smaller restaurants participating in helping those in need with kind acts of charity. I recently watched a sad news report on an 80 year old granny who hung out at a HK shopping center’s food hall just so she can take the left over scraps from dirty tables to feed herself. Sigh...I'm truly grateful for any organizations or individuals who give a helping hand to the underprivileged. Thank You 圓善素食! 功德無量! 🙏🙏🙏…Read More

Café Malacca
2021-03-08
Living in HK for more than 27 years, finally found a place that's close to having the taste of our local Malaysian foods. We heard about Café Malacca through a 🇲🇾 friend, we were so disappointed it took us so long to hear about it. Friend recommended Penang Asam Laksa, she said it's really good. I think it's not bad too, the closest we could find to the authentic taste in HK. We also had the Hokkien fried noodles, Sambal Patai and Grilled stingray. Our fav dish was the Grilled stingray. 😍😍😍😋❤️ It was perfectly seasoned. The first bite transported me back to the local beachside hawker stall where I used to visit whenever I craved for Grilled stingray. 🤭🤭🤭The taste of the Sambal patai was up to expectations but I think the patai not as fresh as we could get back in Malaysia. Which took away from the stinky funky taste of the patai. Our least favourite was hokkien fried noodles. It's not even close to what we had before. And the Sambal sauce Cafe Malacca served was bit spicy and a bit too salty, I suggest that they should try and change other sambal product. There's plenty of options in the market! So we will skip hokkien char on our next visit. I'm looking forward to try the Mee Bok from the menu. That's one of my fav Singapore dish. ❤️Almost forgot to mention their service... Very Malaysian style... Slow and forgetful... 😂 😂 😂 …Read More
