Oneordinary Korean chain restaurant
The Cup
2016-01-26
This is one of the new restaurants opened in Whampoa, like other new restaurants , this one is well renovated and clean looking. The staff there were polite and the speed of the food was satisfactory.Talking about the taste, it is no different from other usual Korean restaurant opened in HK recently shortly after the K pop hit. I ordered normal sushi roll and kimchi fired rice but it disappointed me quite abit given their comfortable dining environment. The sushi roll had a lot of fillings which makes it look good, the rice texture was ok but the overall taste of the sushi roll is kinda tasteless. For the kimchi fired rice, it looked good but all I could taste is the slight sour spicy taste of freshly-made kimchi. it didn't give much layers of tastes but you could only feel the chewy rice. The food was very rough and not-Korean-tasting at all.For those looking for comparatively healthy fastfood, especially those living close by, For such a pricing, it is not too bad.…Read More

Small restaurant with quality food !!
Le Cafe (寶其利街)
2016-01-17
Le cafe is one of my favourite place for sinning in whampoa! The shopIs very small and the seats are not that spacious but I still keep going back Bcoz of the quality of food :) We ordered Germany pork knuckle spaghetti , spaghetti with seafood, carbonara , curry carbonara, Scottish smoked salmon spaghetti and chicken wing. All the food were really tasty especially those fired spaghetti . The chicken wings at every sweet with light honey favour :) For carbonara , I will recommend normal carbonara, the curry one was abit interesting though. The price is slightly higher than other restaurants nearby but it's worth such a price! The owner was very attentive and caring ,very polite as well! A place I will wanna revisit soon !…Read More

Hop Hing Noodle
2016-01-17
A very old style Cantonese noodle restaurant . If you are looking for good food with a low price, then you may wanna try this! The portion is huge and the topping is of well proportion to the volume of the noodle. Dumplings are big and full of fillings while the fried porkchop is soft with a crispy surface. The porkchop is a bit dry and alkaline,so if you are looking for juicy porkchop ,maybe you should order dumpling instead. The sticky rice ball is big and filling. And it is very cheap! It is best served tgt with a hot soy milk :)The shop is old as I said so it is not very clean. there are around 20seats, not very crowded but when you dine there, the dishwashing ladies may pass by you with a big box of used tableware which can be off-putting:/…Read More

Yue Mic Ka

A chain restaurant which is famous for the fish-based noodle soup. I am not a big fan of soup noodle but I admitted that it was good, the soup was rich and I could really taste the fish. While it was not oily so if you are looking for healthy food, you can try this one!Pork cartilage with fish coup noodle was really good too. The portion of pork cartilage was satisfactory and the taste was rich. The meat was well cooked and soft while there were a lot of cartilage for you to chew. If you are looking for non-soup items, you can go for friend instant noodle with chicken! As you can tell from its name, it was not healthy at all! But the noodles texture was just fine with the sauce and tasty chicken wings.…Read More

Saizeriya Italian Restaurant ( Pebbles World (Site 3))
2016-01-17
Saizeria restaurant was one of my restaurants when I was living in Japan bcuz of its price and the quality of food. One thing I noticed in Saizeria HK is the food is comparatively more salty than those in Japan. I have been to this restaurant for 3 times and my friends and I almost ordered all food on the menu.Risottos is ok comparing to pasta. The pasta is quite salty, I would say they are way saltier than other pastas in HK regardless of the price.Tiny pizza tastes fine and do not expect it to be very good. It is an inexpensive restaurant after all. While for the fired salmon cheese and honey chicken. You can always order them as extra snacks, the price is good and they do taste good as junk food. The service was fast and whenever u ring the bell, they come to you quickly after and the staff were friendly. You can always go get water at the self-service bar. If you pay extra money, u can have all kinda soft drink, coffee and tea at the bar as well.…Read More

Lava flowing omurice :)
Asobu Bistro
2016-01-17
There are many online posts about omurice recently and the lava-flowing of egg sauce seems to be the biggest attraction of this dish. This restaurant is pretty new in whompoa at a small street. Many people were lining up at night and it convinced me that it might be a good try.We ordered a omurice with porkchop and one with teriyaki chicken. The price varies slightly only. The sauce was the same for both omurice , a very common and thin tomato sauce. If you are amused by seeing the egg flowing out like lava, you will be very happy with this omurice. The egg tasted good with very smooth texture. While the pork chop and chicken were just normal pork chop and chimney you can get in every individual Japanese restaurant (not expensive ones).I didn't like the sauce as it lacked layers, it tasted very feeble and watery. The portion was ok for girls, you might wanna ask for extra rice if you were very hungry :) I don't recommend you to upgrade it into a set as you will only have one very small chicken wing and a few slices of side dish. …Read More

Tsukemen Manaka
2016-01-17
I fell in love with tsukemen ever since I lived in Japan a few years ago. Whampoa is famous for having Japanese cluster and Japanese restaurants operated by Japanese. And this tuskemen shop was quite a topic whenever u talk about Japanese restaurants in whompoa.I went there with my friend after yoga class and I was so looking forward to my beloved tuskemen. For taste, I was really disappointed. The sauce was very thin and insipid. It could not satisfy my tastebuds at all... And if you wish you have a few pieces of pork or a egg, you have to pay extras 10-30 dollars.I ordered a basic tsukemen while my friend ordered a tsukemen with pork. The sauce tasted the same while she paid extra bucks for 3-5slices of pork. Definitely not worthy:(For the noodle, i couldn't complain much cuz it was quite chewy and I liked it :)I will definitely visit more tsukemen stores in HK to find the best Japanese taste I want!…Read More

Queen's Garden

My friends and i were having a dinner gathering there and all of us shared the same thought: never come here again. This restaurant is a chain-running one. We wanted to try it as the decorating seemed very interesting. Although the food was not that food but I have to admit that i really like their tables there, very colourful and cute ahahaFor food we order squid ink pasta with lobster and carbonara with beacon, mushroom. We upgraded them into a set with salad, chicken wings etc.The portion was really big and they did look good. However, they were very insipid, almost tasteless... For such a price, it is def not worth trying....…Read More

Worth trying thai restaurant :)
Golden Thai
2016-01-17
I went there with my family on a rainy Father's Day without any booking so we had waited for 1.5 hours. For food, we order: Fried shrimp cheese ball, curry crab, hainanese chicken rice, fried pork jowll meat, fried vegetables. We got extra mango smoothies as well.A five for the fired shrimp cheese ball. it was quite amusing just to see how cheesy it was aha And it tasted good as it looked! A must tried for foodie nerds out there.Curry crab was good as well, a four for the curry and a 3 for the crab. You may want some rice for the curry sauce as it is very good. Friend pork jowl meat and crispy and i rated it a four. while friend vegeies was a ordinary fried vegeies, have nth much to say abt it.I don't recommend hainanese chicken rice if you are obsessed with good hainanese chicken rice cuz it was just a very normalone with no surprise at all.Mango smoothies is a must-drink! the environment was a bit crowded and noisy but the hygiene was still ok.…Read More

A Korean chef!!
Dak Chi Go
2016-01-17
I just had dinner there yesterday and I am still talking abt this restaurant with my friends :)For the food, it is one of the best Korean restaurant I have tried in HK. For most of the food, they reminded me the taste of Korea! First, let's talk about the complimentary side dishes/ appetiser. The Baechu Kimchi is very Korean to me, unlike most of the under-fermented kimchi served in usual Korean chainstores, this kimchi tasted much stronger and the scent was finer.Maincourse: Spicy fried rice cake(Tteokvokki) , seafood pancake(Jeon), sauce noodle (jajangmyeon).I would give 5star for the rice cake , remember to add cheese. It was not super spicy so I guess HK people would find no problems eating it . I ordered Seafood pancake bcuz Korean tends to eat Jeon during rainy days and it was raining yestersay. The Jeon had a lot of green onion which is not commonly found in HK chain restaurants :) The waiter was very attentive to ask if we wanted it to be softer or crispier. The sauce reminded me of Korea again :For jajangmyeon, it was normal comparing to the above two dishes. one thing I liked about it was it had a lot of potatoes inside. In general I would say this shop was the most Korean-tasting restaurant in HK, and of coz I will have more Korean restaurants to try out in HK. Also , if you have some certain Korean food you wanna have but not listed on the menu, you can call them to make reservation so the Korens chef will try his best to tailor make it just for you !! I will try to revisit this store next time and I will ask them to prepare 찜닭 (jjamdak) which is my favourite Korean food:)For the service, I would give another 5star for the waiter as he was very attentive and he tried to communicate with the chef to make sure we got what we wanted:) The shop is a bit small with only 10seata but I saw a lot of people having takeaway so you could tell how popular this small unknown store is to peopel in Whompoa :) Looking forward to my next visit to this store!…Read More
