Delicious ice cream in the heart of Central
Emack & Bolio's
2015-12-02
The ice cream here is really delicious, and all of the flavours are really original- with over 30 to choose from, you'll definitely find one that you love!! As a chocolate lover it was perfect as most flavours had some chocolate in it which was nice. There were also a selection of cones to choose from, with marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles, plain waffle, or fruit loops, as well as other snacks like chocolate covered marshmallows and millionaire's shortbread! I really want to eat it all  it was quite pricey ($58 for one scoop in a chocolate come) but the servings were generous and it was very unwise so was totally worth it, really recommend it. The shop itself was lovely, with comfortable seating on sofas and bar stools, toilets, and even a jukebox. Lovely restaurant in a convenient location so it's really easy to get to in central. Definitely will be coming back soon!!…Read More

Refreshing salad and fish bowl!
POLOLI
2015-10-26
Had lunch here with a friend. The restaurant was quite easy to find and was clean and had nice lighting and interior. I ordered a salad bowl with vinegarete with salmon yuzu and some tuna (forgot the exact choice name!) from the vast selection of fish and vegetables to choose from. The bowls were quickly put together and we were served immediately. Although it cost $90 it was so worth it's- refreshing, crisp, and tasty. We sat on one of the stools in the restaurant and ate there. Lovely servers, nice declarations, and great, healthy food. Would definitely go again if looking for a nice bite to eat in central. 👌👌…Read More

Great healthy juices in central
Pressed Juices
2015-04-12
Came here for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up as my friend and I were quite tired and needed to drink something refreshing. The shop itself is located next to PMQ in central, so was easy to find, and also it looked very nice and sleek. The interior was very homely and down-to-eath, which wooden panels on the walls, benches, a window seat, shelves filled with decorations, and a chalkboard with colourful writing and drawings on it.When we arrived it was quiet, and a huge selection of juices were available (as I had been once before but all of the juice was sold out). After much deliberation (as they all looked so good!) I chose a Zest 2 drink which had lemon, mint, apple, and pineapple in it, and my friend had an Almond Mylk which she said that she liked. The staff were very helpful as they helped us to decide which ones to buy. I loved my juice because it was refreshing, sweet, and light- just what I needed to feel energised again! My friend's drink was more like a smoothie- a hint of almonds, but also quite fruity, but more heavy than my drink. I would love to come back again, and although the drinks are quite expensive ($58 for me and about $75 or so for hers) they are freshly made every day, healthy, and made me feel much better, so it was worth it! …Read More

Great ice cream, definitely worth it!
Via Tokyo
2015-04-12
I came here for a snack with my friends during the week. At first we were worried as we saw a queue outside the door, but realised that the queue was mainly for the people who wanted to sit in the restaurant, and the queue for take away only had a couple of people in it. We were given the menu whilst we were queueing up (saving us time and giving us something to do), and I decided to try the mix cone matcha and milk ice cream! After ordering the ice cream it arrived within a few seconds, so the service was very efficient and good. The ice cream looked delicious, and I coudn't wait to try it. The matcha was quite strong and bitter, but the milk was nice and sweet, so together they were perfect for me (as i prefer sweet ice cream). My friends ordered the matcha cone and said that that was nice too. It was only about $28 or so, and I think that it was worth it as the ice cream quality was very high and the service was great. If you ever need a nice ice cream in causeway bay this place is easy to find and not too far away from times square, so I would definitely recommend it. I'd love to come back again one day! This restaurant is definitely worth the hype. …Read More

Delicious Belgian waffles!
Waffills
2015-04-12
I came here with some friends as we had been looking for a good waffle/pancake house in HK for ages. We had heard about this place and decided to give it a try, considering it was only walking distance from Times Square. The restaurant itself was small, but nicely decorated to give a comfortable, casual, homely feel- it even had a chalkboard that they invited you to draw and write on, which was nice. We were seated straight away and ordered our waffles quickly. The waited was nice and efficient. I ordered a belgian liege waffle with belgian chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and white chocolate grating on top! The waffles arrived quickly. My waffle was smaller than I had expected, but was quite filling so that was ok. The ice cream was chocolatey, cold, and good quality, and the waffle was soft and sweet. My friends ordered some of the other waffles and we all agreed that they were all amazing, certainly the best waffles that I've ever had in HK! I will definitely be coming back again soon as it's location is easy to find, and will reccomend it to all of my friends. Love this place!…Read More

Nice food, nice restaurant
La Grande Bouffe
2015-04-12
I came here with my family for dinner during the week. We were seated quickly and ordered not long afterwards. The waiter was very funny and nice, and reccomended some dishes to us to help us decide on what to order. I ordered a burger with chips whilst the rest of my family ordered a steak. The burger came with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. The patty was very juicy, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp, but I thought that the cheese was a bit overpowering for me, so you couldn't taste the patty very much. The french fries were quite thin and greasy (just how I like it) and came with ketchup- they were eaten up very quickly by all!   For desert I had the chocolate mousse too. At first I thought that was quite small, but once I started eating I realised that it was because the chocolate was quite dark, so was very rich and filling! It was quite light, but not as moussey as others that I've had before (it was a bit more dense). This french restaurant is nice if you want some good food, but I wouldn't say that it has amazing french food (my standards are quite high though, as I have visited france many times before and went to a french school). However if you want some nice steaks, burgers, and baguettes, this is certainly the place to go, and I would say that it is the best french restaurant in HK that I have been to.…Read More

Great dim-sum at a good price
Dim SumThe Art Of Chinese Tit Bits
2015-04-12
I came here for lunch with a friend during the week, and it was not very busy which was nice. This restaurant is located on Sing Woo road, or the 'Happy Valley highstreet', so is easy to find and convenient. We were seated straight away and ordered quickly. The decor of the restaurant was quite traditional and local, and gave a lovely atmosphere to the place, and it looked quite clean.  We were very hungry, so ordered some... panfried dumplings (wo teep): crispier and more fried than I prefer but still had a tasty pork filling, pork soup balls: quite hot, but delicious and a nice balance of soup and pork and the outside was softdau mui (with garlic soy sauce): nice and soft, even better with the soy sauce shrimp dumpling: the taste of shrimp was qutie strong but the texture was nice. We were also served jasmine tea which was a bit bitter but nice and hot.The price for 2 of us (for 6 dishes and jasmine tea) was $317, and I think that this meal was great. This dim sum restaurant is quite cheap (around $48 or so per dish) compared to some of the other ones in HK, and overall the meal was delicious. It's location is also great as it's so easy to get to. I will definitely be coming back to this place in the future to deal with my chinese food cravings!wifi: noenglish menu: yes, with picturesservice: quicknoise levels: good (quiet)booking: yes, except sundays…Read More

Casual restaurant with nice food at a good price
BB1 Vietnamese Bistro
2015-04-12
I came here for dinner with a friend, as we were looking for an asian cuisine restaurant to eat at in causeway bay. The location of this restaurant is really practical if you are in causeway bay, as it's in Hysan Place which is walking distance from Times Square. We were looking for somewhere casual and normal for a light dinner, and found this restaurant. We were seated quickly, and it wasn't too busy. The waiter was very kind and helped us decide what to order by recommending dishes that we might like, and describing the dishes to us. My friend ordered prawns with rice noodles, and I ordered fried rice. We shared some spring rolls too. The food arrived quickly. I enjoyed the fried rice (it is my favourite meal) and thought that it was tasty and well cooked, however I would have preferred it if it had some more meat it in (personal preference). The spring rolls were crispy and hot, and my friend said that the prawns were nicely cooked, glazed, and seasoned. It was quite filling and was quite reasonably priced. Overall, I would say that this is a good restaurant if you just want to grab a bit to eat quickly and for a good price. The food isn't absolutely amazing, but honestly if you need somewhere to go to quickly for nice, simple food in causeway bay, this place is perfect. If I ever find myself looking for somewhere normal to eat, this is definitely a good option. wifi: yesenglish menu: yesnoise levels: good (quite quiet)service: good…Read More

Delicious food for a great price
Golden Valley
2015-04-12
I went to Golden Valley with my family for a dim-sum lunch on a sunday. UNfortunately there was a slight mix-up with our booking, so we had to wait for a few minutes before being seated, but considering that it was a Sunday (very busy) they seated us in just 7 minutes which was rather quick. We were given our menus straight away and offered Jasmine tea and water. The tea was quite hot but it was lovely. The staff were very efficient with their service and we ordered quickly. The food came in about 10 or 15 minutes, which was very fast considering that the whole restaurant was full. We ordered yeung chow fried rice:very tasty and perfectly done, shrimp dumplings:nice texture and a not too overpowering taste,  deep fried spring rolls: my favourite, perfectly crispy and with a lot of filling, cha sui bao: fluffy and soft, nice flavour, gluttinous rice with ham: interesting texture, a bit too sticky for me (but my family loved them), but nice ham. I really enjoyed this meal, but wished that they had some da mui or bok choy to have on the side. Apart from that, everything that we ordered was lovely, and we had a great lunch! The price was also very reasonable (most dishes were about $42 or $48), especialy compared with some very expensive dim sum places. Will definitely be coming again soon.noise levels: acceptablewifi: noenglish menu: yesnapkins: yes…Read More

Lovely icecream platters for special occasions
Häagen-Dazs
2015-04-01
I came here for afternoon tea with some fo my friends. We ordered 3 of the ice cream creations that they offered: Flower Blossoms (6 most popular flavours in mini scoops in a waffle bowl with cream and strawberries), Moon Shadow (3 large scoops of ice cream with banana and brownie bits and mini marshmallows), and finally French Roaming (summer berries ice cream block topped with 9 mini scoops of ice cream, berries, berry sauce, and lady finger biscuits and wafer biscuits)! They were delicious and the ice cream flavours were lovely, the waffles were sweet and not too soft, the ice cream was cool and creamy, the brownie bits were chocolatey and fudgy, and the presentation was superb. It would have been perfect for a birthday or a special celebration. My friend had some coupons which meant that we didn't have to pay very much for the ice creams, which was lucky, but for those who don't have coupons then the ice cream collections are quite expensive, which is why I would mainly reccomend them for a special occasion. The service was lovely, and the waitress was very kind, and the atmosphere was nice as it wasn't too loud. There wasn't very much seating but it was not very busy when we went and the seats were comfortable. They also had a large range of different ice cream flavours (many of which I hadn't seen at any other ice cream stores, and were more diverse and interesting than the standard flavours like chocolate and vanilla) that you could choose from if you were getting an ice cream cone or a scoop which looked fantastic as well. Will most definitely be going back again in the future!…Read More

Good, but disappointing queueing time
Pepper Lunch Express (希慎廣場)
2015-04-01
Went here for lunch with a friend as it is easy to find and I knew that it had good food. However, even though it was good, the waiting time was just too long. We had to spend a while queueing up to order, and then after that we had to wait another 15-20mins for our food to be ready. Although my Chicken Pepper Rice was tasty, with the chicken cooked nicely, the rice not too sticky, and the vegetable soft and nicely seasoned (with soy sauce to make it that bit more salty), if I had been in a rush it would have been impossible to get there. I would love to go if it was less busy, as it served good food for only about $45 which was very reasonable, I don't think I could be bothered to wait there for that long again. Also, as it is located in a food court, it was very difficult trying to find seats as it was packed full of people, and there wasn't enough seating for everyone, which was disappointing. The service wasn't very good either, and although I know that the staff were in a rush to serve everyone they were quite rude and uncaring which wasn't great either. Will definitely go again one day if they sort out the queueing time and are able to serve people in a more acceptable time period.…Read More

Lovely tea-time treats
THE COFFEE ACADEMÏCS (莊士敦道)
2015-04-01
I came here with friends for a mid-afternoon tea break. We shared cinnamon sugar churros with hot fusge sauce and espresso ice cream- they were sugary, warm, crunchy, and had lots of the fudgy sauce on they which was sweet and hot! The espresso ice cream was soft, creamy, and cold, which went really well with the churros. My velvet drinking chocolate was great (especially because of the cute design it had- really helps to make it feel more homely and welcoming) and was rich, chocolately, and you could tell that it wasn't just hot chocolate powder with water (yuck) like many other restaurant serve, and I can safely say that it was one fo the best hot chocolate's that I've ever had in hong kong! The design and decor of the restaurant was lovely because it had little fairy lights, loads of seating, and felt comfortable and homely. The service also was good as the waiters/waitresses came quickly and were very kind. …Read More

Paisano's Pizzeria
2015-04-01
Went here for dinner with friends. The restaurant is easy to find and conviniently located if you're spending time in Stanley. There were lots of free tables once we entered and it was quite quiet- some of the tables were a bit dirty but there were many to choose from so we sat somewhere a bit cleaner. To order, you have to go up to the checkout and say what you want, then wait for your order number to be called out. My friends and I shared a 24 inch pizza between 5 of us- it was the perfect late-night pizza place. The pizza was quite greasy and thin, not too crispy and very cheesy and packed with pepperoni and olives and meat! It was reasonably priced and really worth it. It was very fun to share such a huge pizza as well, and I would definitely come again if I ever get a pizza craving with not much money in my pocket. I would have prefered it if the pizza was a bit crispier but that's just my personal preference, and also it would have been better if they had cleaned the place up a little bit. …Read More

Nice dinner with friends
Camper's
2015-04-01
I came here after going to RYZE in Quarry Bay, and as it was about 9pm we were thinking of heading home and needed somewhere to eat. We stumbled upon Campers and, surprisingly, it was good, considering we hadn't read any reviews of it beforehand. The waitress spoke little english, but luckily my friends spoke cantonese so they could order for me. I had the Buttered Chicken and Mixed Vegetable Curry, and some tap water- my friends had the same. It didn't take long to come out, and was hot and tasty, and the chicken was soft and tender and the vegetables were nicely cooked (not too hard or too soft). The curry sauce wasn't very spicy but I prefered it that way It was quite a simple dish but I wasn't really feeling like eating something very rich or special that day. I wouldn't go out just to go to this restaurant, but if I ever happen to be stuck in Quarry Bay looking for a relatively cheap place to grab a bite to eat, this is great! However if you don't come with someone who can speak cantonese then it may be a little bit more difficult. The restaurant's decor was nice, and it was quite quiet when we got there too, so we could have a nice conversation. However I thought that the waitress was not very nice, probably because she was still having to work at 9pm, but even so that didn't make the atmosphere completely welcoming.…Read More

Yummy ice cream!
XTC Gelato
2015-04-01
I grabbed an ice cream from XTC after hopping off of the ferry on a hot day. They had a range of enticing flavours, but for me chocolate looked the best so I went for that one. It was sweet, soft and cool- just what I needed to battle through HK's humidity! I always trust XTC for their ice creams and gelato, as another favourite of mine is their sea salt caramel ice cream- salty, sweet, and soft. Perfect! …Read More
