Thanks to the typhoon the day before, we chose just the right day to go and enjoy no waiting time outside. Or maybe it is the decline in popularity?I took my family, visiting HK, and they loved the meals. We ordered 1500hkd worth of various dim sum for 5, including 3 xiao long bao. I found them very dry (luckily tourists don't know how it is supposed to be), as well as the other dumplings. We were charged tea for everyone but only got one little pot with no refill. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not busy, and the staff numerous, the service was poor and doesn't deserve a Michelin star at all : One of us ordered a beef soup, which arrived 10mn before everything else, so we had to watch him eat and feel uncomfortable. We were served the dumplings all together, and then the 2 plates of vegetables and rice over 20mn after we finished the dumplings. I had to order more dumplings (along with the dessert) so that we don't eat 2 plates of spinach and one plate of fried rice alone (really?) so we waited 10 more minutes, we got the dessert, and then had to wait 15 more minutes for the dumplings, so the vegetables were completely cold, and after we ate the cold vegetables with dumplings the desserts were cold too. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the price, or the wait. Only good for tourists.…Read More

Why does this even have a French name?

I went there to celebrate a special occasion, in an extemely good mood, but this place left me so unhappy I didn't know it was possible. The service was awful : the waitress didn't know anything about the meals they served, French food, or even what service is.We ordered a cold cut and a cheese platter with a glass of wine. Not only the platters were ridiculously small, the quality was not there. The cheese was common supermarket cheese, and the cold cut platter was simply a couple of average saussisson cut in extremely tiny slices to fill the space on the half empty platter. The wine was warm and tasted like "piquette". The top moment : they didn't include bread, and after we insisted for 10mn they finally got us some... Tortillas. French cheese, saussisson and tortillas? No. Not going back there. Ever.…Read More

Great place to take your tourist friends
One Dim Sum (Tung Choi Street)
2014-08-30
This has been my favorite Dim Sum place for 2 years. I always make sure to be a bit hungry because I know I will knock myself out. For 50hkd per person you get so much food you can't move anymore. Ken is very friendly and helpful for English speakers. He will make recommendations and even teach you how to eat buns properly. My favorite meals : barbecue pork rice rolls, crispy shrimp fried dim sum with sweet sauce, vegetable and peanuts dumplings and hot fried sesame balls. Not a very healthy choice but it is so good. Do not go there on peek hours as the wait can be a turn off. Although if you don't have the choice you can make an arrangement at nearby cafes to take away and eat there. Most of them will be ok as long as you order something. Another option is to take a ticket and have a walk in the flower market 2mn away while you wait.Regarding the rating:The decor has nothing special, and apart from Ken the waitresses are very friendly but don't speak a word of English.…Read More
