Our family friends spontaneously asked us on a weekday afternoon for a dinner gathering that night, so we walked into this restaurant at around 7pm with fingers crossed for a vacant table for 7.Once we sat down, the waiter served us a bread basket along with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Either I was very hungry, or it was genuinely the best focaccia I’ve had to date! This was soft and savoury goodness with a hint of garlic and mixed herbs, and its richness was cut through by the vinegar’s refreshing acidity, making it dangerously addictive.We ordered their biggest set meal and had a FESTA of 4 appetisers, 5 main courses and 1 dessert to share. The dishes lived up to, if not exceeded, expectations. Appetisers included greens salad, minestrone soup, fried fritters and, surprisingly, pizza. Main courses were delightful, especially the succulent pork ribs, herb-infused roasted chicken and juicy ribeye steak. Each plate came with a variety of sides and sauces, such as sautéed mushrooms, roasted vegetables and mulled cranberry apple sauce. I am sadly not a fan of pasta, but I still sampled the sauces which were flavourful.Our jaws dropped when the waiter arrived with a massive block of tiramisu nearly the size of our heads! Surely, this was meant for more than 4-5 persons as the restaurant suggested? Lady fingers were infused with espresso, kahlua and cherry brandy, layered alternatively with silky smooth mascarpone cheese and topped with a dusting of cocoa powder and chocolate. The aroma of roasted coffee and sweet fruity liquor melted into the silky smooth mascarpone and lingered in my mouth. It was a sweet harmony of comforting flavours and textures that concluded our hearty dinner on a high note.
