'One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.' Food is an Art :) I love food so much that I take pictures of them every day. I study abroad, so I am not in Hong Kong very often, but I will keep updating what I have eaten in UK as well. Thanks!!

Get steak if you like truffle
Mini Friday (銅鑼灣廣場二期)
2021-06-18
Ordered rib eye and it came within 15min, the fastest time I have ever been served steak. I asked for medium rare, only to be found that the steak is practically RAW with a cold centre (close to blue actually). The steak is accompanied with mashed potatoes, frozen carrots and asparagus. If that does not put you off, they decide to drench the whole plate with truffle sauce. It made everything very unappetizing. We did not even bother trying desserts. Never again …Read More

This is currently a hot dessert topic in OpenRice. After some consideration, I decided to buy one to see what the fuss is about. Upon arrival, the Tsuen Wan's shop is hidden behind amongst other Chinese food stores. It has a variety of different flavours, including the original honey cake, chocolate and earl grey. It also has other non-liquidy centre cakes, such as strawberry cheesecake and belgian chocolate. As a tea lover, I decided to go for earl grey tea cake, as I like how the flavours infuse into the sponginess of the cake. I was recommeded to eat it whilst it is cold. So... taste: 6/10- It could be a lot better I think, there is nothing special about it. Since the cake has been pre-baked for quite some time, you can see that it is basically a very small portion. The liquid centre is not enough to create its uniqueness since the cake has shrunk so much. Quite disappointing actually. One thing for sure, I would not really want to visit this store again. Think it is quite ridiculous that I have to pay $75 for such a small cake. Would try the cream puff sometime to see whether that is better though. …Read More

Milkissimo (Hokkaido Hakodate Gelato Da 41'N)
2011-07-12
The store really appeals to me. The main colour theme is white and aqua blue and I really like the relaxing atmosphere of this tiny store. There are various flavours out on the display counter and it looks really good and bright. I chose two flavours which cost around $40, which is already a lot... When the guy starts padding out the gelato, I asked them whether they have pistachio flavoured gelato. He said to me unfortunately they are out of stock right now and because of the radiation crisis in Japan, the gelato would be late and arriving to Hong Kong in August... Seriously I don't really care about the real reason, but when he is explaining to me I cracked up laughing, coz that was certainly not the answer that I expected I chose Hazelnut Chocolate and Red Bean.To be honest, I am not a big fan of red bean, but when I tried it it was lovely. There are still bits of red bean within the gelato and it gives you a sophisticated, non-artificial flavour of red bean. Also, it doesn't smell like those cheap ice cream where the flavour is red bean but it looks so unreal. The Hazelnut Chocolate is acceptable; very rich, smooth and not too sweet. One thing that annoys me about this store is that it weighs the gelato >< Is that really necessary?? Sigh... I will go and check whether he has said the truth about the pistachio gelato arriving in August later on these months. If any of you people see pistachio flavoured or another limited edition fruit punch gelato, go for it!!!!…Read More

Good breakfast place
Tsui Wah Restaurant
2011-07-12
I woke up quite late that day and it was already past noon. But without anything in my stomach yet, I decided to have my breakfast as 'lunch.' If I haven't done anything between the time I woke up and before heading for lunch, I would like to have a light snack.Tsui Wah is really one of my favourite place in Tsuen Wan. I think the overall atmosphere is soo typical of a cha chan teng and in particular, when I moved to Tsuen Wan with my family, this is the first place that was recommended to me by my parents. It is always so busy in TW, in particular during lunch time, because students, workers and even businessmen always come here because of their quick, simple set meals for the busy people.I did not order anything special this time, all I want is a sandwich. So I ordered Egg and Luncheon Meat Sandwich and also Iced Lemon Tea.When I saw the sandwich, the width of that egg is so big that you can hardly see the thin slice of meat below I have never in my life see this.. I thought it is just going to have an average sized bread slapped together with some butter, then messy scrambled eggs and thick luncheon meat. But instead, there is no butter on either side of the bread, the egg is buttery, piping hot and very delicious. The meat is .. ok.. well what more can you say anyway? Its not like they made the meat themselves I should have ordered a hot Tea with milk, but technically I have to cut down the amount of caffeine and sugar that I am consuming every day, but next time if I come here, hot tea and this great sandwich will definitely be the best breakfast pair if you guys are the same like me; got up really late during the day, going down and nothing seems to be appealing to you. Why not try this? It will definitely satisfy you, well at least it will make you feel that you are not cheated by outrageous prices for just sandwiches!!! …Read More

Goce Del Cafe
2011-04-18
因為係街食倒D鴨胸個portion 好細 >< 只係覺得佢油左少少~~意粉唔會煮到軟sai~ 佢加左少少olive oil and parsley... very good!! XD龍利fillet is VERY VERY GOOD!!! 飯一般啦,無特別,但係龍利值得一試 Overall 只係 approx. $80,我覺得好抵!!下次應該試吓coffee 同埋 cheesecake~~ A very pleasant and relaxing lunch experience =]…Read More

FroYo in MK~
Yogo Frozen Yogurt
2011-04-18
I was actually in a bit of a rush to go back home, but since I had a few hours before supper, so I thought it wouldnt hurt to have a bit of froyo for afternoon snack Went past YoGo and the shop looks quite nice, the decor is very relaxing and I can see that there are loads of secondary school students there already, so it must be popular among teenagers. There are a total of four flavours to choose from: Original, Strawberry, Green Tea and Pomelo. I chose Original, because I think that is the safest to choose when I havent tried this shop before. Toppings: Oreo crumbs (AGAIN... if you have been reading my other post from Holly Cow, you will know how much i love Oreo ), Cornflakes, strawberries and blueberries. This is not a self serve yoghurt shop, instead, whatever you want, the people there will sprinkle it over your yoghurt.... which I think it is kinda stupid, as they calculate the cost by weight.. (isnt it supposed to be easier for people to get those toppings themselves? i suppose its something to do with cleanliness and hygiene as well). Anyway, it came out to a total of $22, so it is not that bad...The yoghurt's sourness is just right, but comparing it to Holly Cow, I have to say this yoghurt is less sweeter and it doesn't melt as fast as Holly Cow. The strawberries and blueberries are very fresh, but sometimes I wish that I was the one sprinkling the ingredients, because I can feel some kind of pressure from that guy who was serving me I didnt like that feeling at all......…Read More

HOLLY COW IN TSUEN WAN!!! :D
Holly Cow
2011-04-13
I love Holly Cow, the first time I tried it is in Causeway Bay.Since I live in Tsuen Wan I am really excited that it has one opened in Citywalk!!! YEAH!! When I first walked into the shop, it was relatively small I think, but then I do not think that there will be loads of people going there for the time being, so all's well. There are two sizes available for you to choose: Original and Mango. I chose Large Original. Large size offers you two toppings and the regular size includes one. The best thing is that THEY HAVE STUDENT DISCOUNT!! If you go to that store before 7pm, you get 15% as long as you are wearing uniform or have a valid student ID.. People who are studying abroad like me, they give out this student discount to us as well!! So please remember to bring your student card For toppings I chose Oreo and Cornflakes.. The service was really good, the guy was really nice and he did one layer of yogurt, then Oreo and Cornflakes, then MORE yogurt and then MORE Oreo and Cornflakes I love Oreos, so yeah.. if you happen to have more froyo critcs.. u might have a 99% chance seeing me with Oreos Overall taste is really nice. I think the sourness of the yoghurt is just right. The downside is that I was only eating the top bit off and the bottom of it has started to melt already Maybe next time I should try the fresh fruit with the yoghurt, but you will see me definitely ner that shop again!! …Read More

Ovenhouse Deluxe
2011-04-12
好濃嘅hazelnut cream,個base 好特別;唔係sponge cake,有D oaty 嘅感覺切落去時唔會好硬,唔會搞到要分開一層一層來食Lady Peach 好cute 呀!!I kinda like it, but kinda don't like it 我鐘意佢個peachy jelly, 係個mousse 有少少抗拒 ><始覺得peach 唔應該整到mousse..... but overall 創意同 appearance 一百分!!! I will definitely go there and try all the others again!! …Read More

Disappointing
Olive Cafe
2011-04-12
This is the first time to this cafe in Tsuen Wan, even though I have been living there for over 3 years. My friends came to visit me as there was no one at home at day, so we decided to try this out since my dad recommended this cafe to me. When we went inside, they put us in a table where it says 'Reserved', which made us thinking whether there is actually someone that is supposed to be sitting on the table or not.. We sat down and they gave us the lunch set menu. We ordered 3 lunch sets with an additional cost of $15, that includes either Garden Salad or Soup of the Day (Onion Soup), tea/coffee and dessert of the day (Ice-cream Puff). For main course, we had English Fish and Chips with Spaghetti, American Beef Burger with Potato Wedges and Salad, Ceasar Salad with Smoked Salmon. (The names of the main course is what it was written in the menu.)When the onion soup arrived, it was very disappointing. My friends' bowl were too salty, but mine tastes really watery. So it kept us wondering whether it is from the same bowl or not The 'English Fish and Chips' came after 10min and surprisingly there are no chips!! We asked why there arent any, and we are told that the spaghetti had replaced the chips... == THEN PLEASE DO NOT PUT 'CHIPS' WITH THE FOOD NAME!! That is very misleading for the consumers. The fish was nicely deep-fried, not too oily, but we thought that they had put loads of salt in it.The beef burger came next and it was really nice, despite that the burger had so much oil that it has seeped into the bottom of the bread and it makes the burger less appetising to eat. And the 'potato wedges' are not even close to its name.. they are just fries..... I really have nothing to say.... I just think that when putting the name for the food, they must be accurate, whether it is in English or Chinese.I have to say that the salad is the best. Suitable amount of Ceasar dressing, reasonable amount of smoked salmon, mixed with dried bacon and croutons. We really enjoyed this salad. The dessert is ice-cream puff.. We feel that it is very rushed and heartless. I feel that for Italian food one of the highlights is the dessert, as it is the 'closing ceremony' of the food. The plate has two puffs with chocolate sauce. It doesn't taste anything special. Because we feel that we did not have enough, so we decided to order three more desserts: New York Cheesecake, Blueberry Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Tiramisu is really really bad, too much rum and there is so much coffee that when you try to spoon the mixture, the coffee just seeps into the cream and it makes the whole dessert look really disgusting. The cheesecakes though are really good, especially the blueberry cheesecake, but one of my friends feel that the cheesecake from Starbucks is way better than this one..We had altogether 3 people having this lunch and we spent a total of $307.... to be honest, I would not go here again.... maybe just for afternoon tea…Read More

Osteria Ristorante Italiano
2011-04-11
I went to Osteria for lunch today with my father. There was a few people there but overall it was quite quiet. The waiters and the manager are really nice and we sat down quite quickly in a little corner of the restaurant. In Osteria, you have two choices: a-la-carte menu or lunch set. The lunch set is $188 and I can assure you that you will be definitely full and satisified after this set. There are two choices for Appetizers: Cauliflower and Clams Soup or Antipasti Buffet. Both of us chose the soup. For the main course there are four choices: Smoked Trout, Pasta, folded pizza with sausage and ham, and something else which I couldnt remember My dad chose the Smoked Trout and I chose the folded pizza. The dessert is Tiramisu. When the soup arrived, it looks really nice and the smell that came out was wonderful. There are loads of clams and cauliflower chunks in the soup, so we are both very satisfied with that. i can taste both the cauliflower and clams. Then the main course came. My pizza was massive, which I thought is a bit too much for me. There are loads of excess pizza bread around the ingredients, but the good thing is that it is stuffed with loads of cheese, sausage and ham, so it was alright overall. But the smoked trout is a bit disappointing, despite its lovely appearance. There is not a lot of flavour in the fish and the potatoes are a bit burnt. The dessert is Tiramisu and it is really really nice!! Nice, moist texture and the sponge cake in the middle has absorbed the right amount of coffee. I finished this within a second hahaI would highly recommend this resturant to anyone. Great lunch experience :]…Read More
