I met a friend for dinner where she chose the venue. She decided something near her home and so it was .... Simply Life.

Simply Life is a very casual restaurant found in pretty much every corner of Hong  Kong. I don't think there is an area that doesn't have a Simply Life. And for whatever reason, there are always a lot of people waiting in line for a table. So, here we were. Waiting in line. But it came quickly and we were ushered in. It seems this branch doesn't have a time limit for dining like Tai Koo (one hour, seriously!).

Menu is in English and Chinese. You get a main and add a certain amount for soup or salad and a drink.

I added $30 for a soup of the day and a ice tea. The soup of the day was tomato which seems to be the soup of the day all the time whenever I come to Simply Life. But it was quite good with chunky bits of cherry tomato and small bits of mozzarella balls.

The main I chose was braised lamb shank, mashed potato and a roasted honey garlic sauce ($198). The shank was well ... not braised long enough. The ones I've had previously so soft the meat literally fell off the bone. This one? No. I really had to cut it with my knife. It wasn't chewy but it just wasn't braised long enough. The sauce was good though. A sweet savory sauce. Tasted a bit like hoisin sauce. The mashed potatoes didn't have enough  butter but they were creamy enough.

The food was ok. Not great but at least acceptable. At least this branch didn't kick you out after a certain period of time like Tai Koo did. One hour, SERIOUSLY? However, like a majority of Simply Life locations, it was very noisy. But yeah ... always seem to be back.
