Came here on the last day of 2010 for lunch, spontaneously, just because Bologne was closed from Dec31-Jan2. Just our luck! I don't think I would've come here if I realized that it was 'Real Bread Cafe' repackaged. Environment: Same as before. Food:
Set lunches are a real good deal, compared with the rest of SoHo. But then...I think you'd be willing to pay a bit more to dine at say, Al Dente, that always serves wonderful food.
Spinach and Feta cakes with garlic yoghurt
Minestrone soup
Potato dhal with steamed rice, flat bread and chutney
The flat bread wasn't yummy either. I thought it would be more bread-like than this, more doughy. I mean this stuff might be authentic but I just didn't like it, authentic or not. It was very peppery and hot. Didn't expect my bread to taste HOT. I wondered if they added chili!
Linguine with chorizo and sundried tomatoes, rocket salad
Pan-fried salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus
Bread and Butter Pudding
Conclusion:
Sorry, Shelley. I will not be seeing you again. But I must say something about the Service: and give credit to the staff - they were friendly, addressed us as 'dears', and were all smiles. Pity the food's lousy.
