After reading the good comments here on this restaurant, my friend and I decided to give this restaurant a go.Knowing that the raclette cheese is a popular dish here, we pre-ordered it on the phone as we made our reservation to avoid disapointment. We arrived at around 7:15pm (on 10 Feb) and the restaurant was packed with people. Most of them were non-locals enjoying their happy-hour with a beer in their hands.
The restaurant is quite small, with only 7-8 tables. We ordered three dishes - pan fried potatoes ($45) (not knowing that most of the dishes here come with potatoes as well), white sausage ($88), and raclette cheese ($138).
I would say food here is quite pricey, considerting the small portion they serve. The pan fried potatoes were nicely done (a little crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside). The white sausage was yummy too, but the portion was way too small - with $88 we got only 2 sausages (and the rest were fries). Hmm...
The highly-anticipated raclette cheese was served last. It had a strong smell (something like seasame crackers!), and it tasted heavenly, especially when you have it hot. There were like 3 slices of cheese (so again portion is small; but yes, it's actually quite heavy). The cheese was served with baked potatoes and gherkins - and I like the gherkins just so much!
Overall I would say the restaurant is ok. Environement-wise it's friendly, but a bit small and packed, and so it's not a very good place for chat (as it's quite noisy). Food is quite yummy but come in small portion. And one word about service - the waitress didn't give us water despite seeing that we didn't want alcoholic drinks. We originally thought maybe they don't serve water for free (which is OK as lots of restaurants in HK do so), but later we saw tap water being served to another table (the customers were two local ladies). I won't say service is very good in this case.
that Maybe giving water for free is a HK thing, but I'd really appreciate
