I've been to the money making machine Tai Er (太二) in Shenzhen once and it was a sight to behold. Literally 80+ tables ahead of us in the queue at 2PM for lunch. In that light, I was very excited to try their specialty pickled fish at their sister restaurant in HK (apparently, the name Tai Er has already been taken in HK, so they had to find a different name for their restaurants). The menu is extremely limited, and for anyone who's tagging along who doesn't like pickled fish, you'll be hard pressed to find enough to eat.

I'll make this short - it's delicious, but it isn't as good as Tai Er.

Everything (obviously) is more expensive for what i felt were smaller portions, and there aren't as many of their delicious pickles. That said, it's still one of the best pickled fish in HK, and if you're craving it, there's not much else around to scratch that itch. We got the biggest bowl, which includes three whole fish, and I can say it wasn't enough for the 5 of us (i ate every single morsel of fish from the heads to the tails, i was so un-full). The giant bowl is probably best for 3-4 people. We added some ingredients (tofu skin, tofu and enoki mushrooms)  and the kinnako (黄粉) rice cake (mua zhi) sticks for dessert, and that was almost enough. It came to just under HKD 200 p.p. with just cooling tea

Anyway, go if you like the stuff, but if you have time, it's worth going to the real deal in China (SZ is less than an hour away these days...)
