On my second stop of my field trip into Yuen Long was this dessert shop famous for tofu fa. It was close to the main road so the street was very busy with lots of little shops and people. This shop was tiny with minimal seats but we managed to snag a couple of seats on a table placed right outside just as people were leaving. The menu offering were limited mainly to tofu fa and some traditional desserts like red bean pudding - my childhood favorite! They acutally had a special tofu fa made from black beans (usually soy beans) but it wasn't available until 5pm that day! I ended up ordering the regular tofu fa and red bean pudding then.

My tofu fa was pretty good as it was silky smooth while the soy bean flavor was evident. On the table, syrup and yellow sugar were available for one to add for sweetness. I picked the yellow sugar which enhanced the taste of my dessert. It was a good solid dessert but the quality was not one that you can't find elsewhere.

The red bean pudding here was smaller than compared to what I was got as a kid. The red beans were also a lot more denser as well. I was quite looking forward to this - while it was easy to find shops that serve good tofu fa, it was harder to find shops that still produces this pudding and well. Unfortunately the texture of my pudding was very disappointing as it was too soft and gooey. The texture should be firm and even bouncy to eat. I wasn't so hot on the red beans either as I preferred them as an enhancement to the dessert but not be the main focus. I felt like I was just eating a bunch of red beans instead of eating the pudding.
