Suggested this place to my friends as I recalled the prices were reasonable; turned out this meal cost $300 per head and the portions shrunk compared to my last visit - likely due to heavy competition (in Civic Square above Elements) and the eternal survival threats to restaurateurs in Hong Kong. Suggested this place to my friends as I recalled the prices were reasonable; turned out this meal cost $300 per head and the portions shrunk compared to my last visit - likely due to heavy competition (in Civic Square above Elements) and the eternal survival threats to restaurateurs in Hong Kong. Service was satisfactory.
The frittata was quite nice with a melted cheese and ham core; the breaded fry white bates were not as crispy as one would wish but the taste was not bad. The lamb meat balls were slightly on the dry side. The marinated squids were a bit too salty. The seafood stew was quite good and was prepared in the form of a bouillabaisse, the freshness and the salinity of the seafood was not lost. The chef overdid the seasoning and the mullet roe and fish/crab roe spaghetti was too sour and salty, which was a pity as the pasta was properly done. The mushroom linguine was normal in seasoning but the pasta was somewhat undercooked. The best dish of the meal was the beef and blue cheese pizza, strange as some may think, the blue cheese was aromatic and went very well on pizza with or without beef.
I wouldn't rate this meal as disappointing, but there were distinct differences from the standards at my last visit. Fortunately I had excellent company which made the dinner a good one despite the food quality.
