Just a few minutes walk from MTR Exit D2, very convenient. I went there to get lunch for me and my friends. I ordered several steamed buns (which were quite big and generously filled for the price of only $7.5 each), a few rice sets and 2 drinks; the milk tea and soy bean milk are both quite nice. Satay Beef Bun (沙嗲牛肉包): The satay beef bun was a definite winner! The aroma which hits you the moment you open up the bun is so satisfying, which made me even more hungry and ready to dig in. The bun was especially soft and smooth, with a thin layer of bun skin on the surface. Once it enters your mouth, it balanced out the rich, savoury flavour of the satay beef filling. The satay beef was indeed very powerful and was rich in spices but it was not too intense There were small pieces of caramelised onion mixed together with the beef, which gave a crunch to the bun and also a slight sweetness to counteract the spices and meatiness, a very pleasant surprise!
Steamed Rice with Chicken and Chinese Mushroom (北菇雞飯): I was given a well-sized portion of savoury chicken bits and a few big juicy pieces of mushrooms. They are not holding back with the ingredients at all! The chicken meat was cooked just right, not too dry and not too mushy. Some of the boney bits had cartilage still stuck on them, which I liked. It was a light yet flavourful meal, which left me and my friends feeling full yet not overwhelmed.
Rice with Tender Pork Ribs(豬軟骨飯): The rice came in a separate container from the toppings/ sauce. There was pork, softened ribs (edible) and 2 big pieces of white carrots which were infused with the savoury sauce. The moment you stick your fork into the meat, the flesh would fall off the tendons and bones. The soft meat accompanied by the slight crunch of the tender pork ribs is really my go-to dish. It was for only $29! Such a good deal!
I was going to try their congee and some of their new dim sum dishes but they were sold out! I guess it’s a really popular choice so I would definitely recommend trying them if you pass by their stores)
All in all, it was a very satisfying meal without it being too unhealthy and oily. The service was quick and the food was warmed up appropriately. Most importantly, it is such a good price for the quality. 好低食啊!
