Maria’s, as a bread-oriented bakery, is always creatively following the trendy taste of youth. The last line was purple potato then now earl grey. I took the No.1 Earl Grey Tea x Hokkaido 3.7 Milk Tart ($9). Disappointed.It is a baked shortcrust filled with earl grey milk tea custard. The delicate and sweet filling is amazing and I would rate it high alone. However the crust is too thick with a high crust-custard ratio at almost 1:3. It is a baked shortcrust filled with earl grey milk tea custard. The delicate and sweet filling is amazing and I would rate it high alone. However the crust is too thick with a high crust-custard ratio at almost 1:3. The inappropriate ratio totally ruins the overall savor. A soft, silky and smooth custard (it actually is) accompanied with a thin crust (this part failed) would deliver the best experience.
