白飯魚煎蛋: 其實看圖的魚相信其實是銀魚而不是白飯魚,正式的白飯魚應該是奶白色而且幼小而無骨的,而相反銀魚呈透明色而且粗長而帶骨。 不過2者煮熟後都會白色所以平常人不什留意, 不過即使用銀魚煎蛋其實味道也不差,同樣香口時蛋身要留意要帶少少煎烤色又不能太老,這兒做得算是很不錯。

生炒藕片:賣相沒什睇頭,如果加點蔥花相信顏色會較搶,不過味道反而不錯,帶少少茨汁的爽甜香脆藕片比起來更像小食多於主菜。

沙薑雞腳: 小食竟然最後上,而且是最失色的,雞腳味首先不重乃其一,雞腳時間蒸得不夠以致太黏不離骨乃其二,全晚就因為這道菜而扣了分。

縱使一道菜失色但不致於全軍盡墨,今天整體來說小菜沒有太大退步。 不過四周環境卻相對於當年冷清了,希望倒是星期一傳統冷清的關係吧!

是日入跑馬地尋找食物不喝酒的情況下,要在此區找餐廳還真的有點難度最後還是去了熟食市場電梯門一打開就是兩家的熱情拉客,看來店舖數量並不是店舖競爭的大小呢於是先來了嫦記,下次再嚐另一家吧先來看看菜式再選一下雞湯翅真的有翅有雞,味道是真的,絕無欺場,價格卻絕不算貴。以這個湯作開始,感覺不錯。風沙雞一個十分美味的菜式,炸得香滑,雞的味道被充分釋放。本人甚好雞肉,此雞應會列入本人記錄呢,一定會再來品嚐。竹笙西蘭花這是考店家的菜,店家似乎有點失準呢。整道菜沒有了味道,是沒下鹽了。。。這個真的猜不到,莫非此店處理蔬菜方面較差?就此吃飽了,但還真是不錯的中菜選擇。在吃太多西菜的時候,來一頓好吃的中菜還真是一個好選擇。

First of all, don't expect nice decor in this place- this is like a hawker style food centre, so what you see is what you get. First of all, don't expect nice decor in this place- this is like a hawker style food centre, so what you see is what you get. But what you get are live seafood tank full of fresh seafood- prawns, pipis, mantis prawns etc. We arrived at about 10:00pm so all the shouting and yelling had disappeared, which was good cos we can truly enjoy our food.

First came the scrambled eggs with prawns. The eggs were quite light and fluffy and the prawns were fresh. The only downfall was that it was a bit salty, but that was probably Esky’s fault as he did dump all the soy sauce that was provided for the eggs into the dish.
Next came the razor clam. Steamed with garlic and vermicelli,the dish was finished with heated up oil and soy. It was sensational. The vermicelli absorbs all the soy, garlic and seafood flavours. The razor clam was fresh and have a nice bite to it. Yum.

The scallops are actually cooked the same way as the razor clam. The scallops in HK don’t usually have roe which is sometimes a bit sad cos I am a roe kinda gal. Either way this is also very delicious but perhaps a tad overcooked. But hey, better safe than sorry in HK.

By this time our table is full of food but out came the Mantis Shrimp with all its deep fried glory. Mantis shrimp is also strangely known as peeing prawns in HK due to fact that it release a stream of water when they get picked up. Maybe the shrimps thought that this would deter us from eating it, but not a chance!

The friendly waiter cut the shrimp up for us, exposing the delicious meat that you eat with the deep fried confetti of shallots, chilli and garlic. Nommers!!! The shrimp itself has quite a firm texture and the flesh is sweet.

By that time it was quite late and I was in a food coma, but that was when the waiters started bringing out huge plates of seafood for their staff dinner, and my oh my I had a bad case of the food envy then! I was too polite to take a photo of their food, but the plates of fresh pipis, the steamed fish etc forces my tummy make enough room just to rumble. My eyes glazed over but thankfully a gentle push from my hubby saved me from drooling over their food.

嫦記水準以前很不錯,但只是几個月之隔,水準變差,服務態度惡劣!我叫咗個士多啤梨炒牛肉,等到所有都食晒,個蝶都仲未得。後來上咗既竟然係蝶pineapple炒牛肉,問小二為什麼會這樣, 佢竟然照無禮貌,話無得換!仲有個湯,照多味精,食完之後背脊好似比人打咗几十拳。D海鲜照唔乾整,食完之後去洗手间!一定唔会再去。

早闻嫦记,今天试了,2人花了400,环境还算干净,服务质量一般般,但是菜质大体感觉上一般,比起跑马地的其他家店铺,实在是略有逊色。 尤其是价格400元2位,小贵,不值得。。感觉名过其实。。。

7月20日(星期二)晚,是日溫完書便去接女友收工,但我們行到去電車站也想不到去哪裡吃晚飯,跟著我看到有輛正駛過來的電車,目的地是跑馬地。突然靈機一觸想到去跑馬地的熟食中心吃飯,於是我和女友便坐這輛電車去到總站落車。相信來過的朋友都會知道,但凡由升降電梯去,一出電梯便有兩“幫”人馬恭候大駕,這時閣下便要從「銖記」和「嫦記」二擇其一,不過未去過的朋友請放心,雙方店員都很有默契和懂得尊重,祇會出口而不會出手拉客。由於來之前已“心有所屬”,我和女友便行去右手邊的「嫦記」。因為未看餐牌已經想好了吃蜜汁脆鱔球,再試試何謂正菜蒸芥蘭,不過未能食到很想試的「黯然燒羊架」,想了良久才叫多一隻炸乳鴿。蜜汁脆鱔球是最想吃的小菜,皆因我們也曾在此店吃過也讚好,今回再試水準依然,鱔片包著蝦膠再炸,鱔片切得很大塊且很鮮味,蝦膠亦夠爽滑,還有那恰到好處的蜜汁,惹味可口;相信正菜蒸芥蘭中“正菜”是炸菜,取其諧音而叫做“正菜”,還將肥豬肉切絲再加薑絲勾芡,然後才淋在蒸好了的芥蘭上,足見並非嘩眾取寵或是虛有其名,芥蘭新鮮翠綠,我入口非常軟腍而味道清淡,和“正菜”一塊吃,配合得剛剛好;炸乳鴿雖不是這裡的名物,但也炸得外層香

還記得我開始寫食評的時候,亦是我和女友剛開始交往的時候,當時還在跑馬地的女皇偶爾會找我們陪她吃宵夜,最常來的便是這熟食中心,所以駐紮在這裡的兩間大排檔也試過,比較之下覺得名氣較遜的「嫦記」,小菜的質素比起名氣較大的「銖記」好,故是夜再訪「嫦記」。

  侍者端上的是醬爆蝦丸、砵酒焗蠔、椒鹽鮮魷,並補給生啤酒。店方安排每人一件的蝦丸,餡料是溶解的芝士。外層香脆,蝦肉是有爽勁,餡料味道與蝦肉屬不過不失的水準;砵酒焗蠔,洋蔥、蒜泥置上,蠔肉很嫩而鮮甜,醬汁豐厚而調味方面不過鹹,美味;鮮魷件同樣鮮嫩,外層香脆屬不俗,但我更喜歡東寶的出品。

  最後一輪的是薑蔥蠔煲、清灼芹菜、明太子釀雞翼。蠔件是肥大而鮮嫩,香蔥、薑片、蒜頭混合烹調,味道較清香但不是清淡,水準與砵酒蠔平分春色。清灼芹菜,為了清理腸胃,增加纖維,雖然是很簡單的一道菜餚,但芹菜的天然清香。釀雞翼的醬料是酸甜味為主,雞翼是嫩滑,據悉明太子釀入雞翼中,但要細心才會發現所謂的明太子在哪裡,除了這點,這道菜餚屬不錯。

  吃光所有食品後,便為壽星公慶祝,而大家自攜兩枝香檳、蛋糕,祝願壽星公前程似錦。

醬汁鴨舌
個人好喜歡吃鴨舌,
但是不是每一間餐廳都可以煮我好吃,
這裡的鴨舌煮得太久,肉質變硬,

名字有點兒特別,
不是何謂窩貼小棠菜,
原來是蝦滑混入小棠菜絲,

黯然烤羊架
這個菜式的名字好古怪,
究竟羊架為何會如斯 "黯然"?
跟"孜然"有沒有關係?
原來真是有一點孜然粉,但是真的只有一點點,
難怪要名"黯然"吧,哈哈

此"黯然"烤羊架敗筆之處是拿了去油鑊炸,
因為加了香草羊架一定只要烤焗的方法才能突出香草和羶味

風沙雞
這個風沙雞和銖記的是打平手的,
因為兩者煮法功夫都好足,
要不停地用滾油淋雞的外皮才有如此薄脆的口感,值得推介!

天氣凍凍地.緊係搵下邊到有羊腩食.咁橋又係跑馬地.所以上街市睇睇.點知嫦記就有啦.好~.試下先.我地一行4個人.點左個羊腩.伙計又推介有特別燉湯.(有2種:杏汁無花果燉豬肺.和椰子燉竹絲雞).嗯~就每樣試一個.ok啊.豬肺湯杏汁味好甜.又足料.竹絲雞都好清.之後試個羊.有支竹.有蘿蔔.加上件件都係肉.問伙計八下.原來佢地用哂全羊腩.無手無腳.件件食得(成本都幾貴)味道都幾好食.可以再食多幾次.(比出面d羊只係幾件肉.加手手腳腳低食好多.)望下d海鮮.都幾多選擇.下次試下先...還有值得一試係個生炒羅米飯.無得彈.比外面d只係撈飯更好食.佢地真係炒的.加上炒出d腊味香出黎.未食都聞到香.下次訂位都要訂個生炒羅米飯先得...不過.上去街市要小心.晚飯時間有2間店開的.唔好攪錯去左隔離店.....係嫦記

My sense of anticipation turned into extreme disappointment this evening. It was not a feeling anyone wish to experience (too often) in life or for any encounters for that matter. Once can hope for the best or prepare of the worst. I know it is lame but so are many life lessons as well. Anyhow, on this Friday evening, a few of my friends and I decided to pay Happy Valley a visit. We picked the famous cooked food stalks at the top floor of the Wet Market building there. During the evening, the whole food court / stalk consists of only two restaurants and the only way to distinguish one restaurant from the other is by the color of the plastic table cover and the color of the tea pot.

As soon as we arrived on the top floor by lift, staff from both restaurants literally BLOCKED our way out from the life doors. Amid the yelling and confusion, we randomly picked one which turned out to be Sheung Kee Delicacy 嫦記.

(1) Shark Fin Chicken Soup
I remember reading an article several months ago by Angie Wong of TimeOut Hong Kong titled Under the table: Save the oceans, regarding shark fins and Chinese cuisine. It was quite an interesting read indeed. One of the famous items at this place is the shark fins soup with seemingly plenty of shark fins at a reasonable price. However, I am not an expert in shark fin and I really have no idea if those that were served tonight was of top quality. All I know is that I enjoyed the soup. There were plenty of ingredients in the pot including a large chuck of chicken and I really enjoyed it not really because of the fact that it was shark fin soup but because it was Chinese soup which I lack and heart.

(2) Steamed Pork Cake with Squid
The steamed pork patty was really disappointing. Not only was it dry, it was extremely firm! The diced squids were equally dry and tough with high elasticity similar to that of "thick rubber-band." The whole patty was stuck to the dish firmly, a sign that not enough oil, fat or greasy was used. This particular way of cooking was definitely not the traditional approach with the mixture of fatty pork as described by Jodi.

(3) Deep Fried Garlic Chicken 風沙雞
The diced garlic were under-fried, the pale brownish color was one of the indication. In my opinion, ut should be of dark brownish color with a crispy texture to it. However, the fried garlic were slightly soft and moist, not what I had in mind. The necessary flavors were there but that was not the only factor to make a good dish. The chicken was alright, no surprises there.

(4) Scramble Egg with Prawns
Back when I was less lazy, I would cook more often and this is one of my favorite dishes to cook. It is not an easy dish to master (especially at home) and I am still learning and experimenting with various methods best suited for "home cooking," which means with the use of electric stove and as little oil as possible. The scramble eggs were slightly overcooked and the prawns were frozen. It was alright I guess.

(5) Steamed Tofu
Presentation wise it was nice but the tofu used was the firm and rough type which I think was not the most suitable choice. I think the softer silken type would be better. Also, there was a slight sour taste to the tofu. Good that the flavors of the sauce did a good job in covering that short-fall but still a disappointing dish in my opinion.

I am thinking, maybe I should do a Sheung Kee Delicacy 嫦記 vs Gi Kee 銖記 standoff for my reviews? hummm ....
