之前聽不少人提過小南國,今次特登約朋友喺度食飯試吓四個人要左兩個前菜及兩個主菜醉雞: 雞肉唔滑, 唔夠酒味~不過份量就ok個菜卷唔知係咪食唔慣,覺得有陣怪味上海炒年糕,呢個味道太濃,年糕太un好似係醬爆牛肉,呢個最好味,露筍炒得爽口,牛肉又唔老,味道啱啱好唔好以為份量好多所以我地叫咁少,只係見味道唔特出,價錢又唔相宜,不如留肚食甜品

The food was very average, especially the smoked fish (Fun Yu) which is totally unacceptable as it does not match the original recipe. The quality of fish is lousy. This is intended to be a cold dish but it turned out to be an ordinary deep fried fish piece. The tea (for 4 people) was not brewed but simply made by placing a tea bag in the pot, yet its charge was remarkable. The service provided by the waiter/waitress was just good enough to get by. 如依這個價錢, 可以有更好選擇, 如之前吃過的家傳戶曉, 蟹粉的菜色, 就算不是大閘蟹肉, 都有很多一絲絲的蟹粉, 霸王山莊的醉雞又比這裡的醉, 別人的真材實料, 價錢相差不遠, 食客的舌頭是雪亮的!!!!!!!!

We had a tray of the fried bun type too - they were very good!

we also had a claypot type concoction with tofu, bak choy and mushrooms, pretty plain (ordinary), but nice because of its simplicity, i guess it depends on your combination of dishes how this would fit, and it was ok for me.

delicate slices of tofu with peitan - this seems to appear in many Chinese restaurants the city over, and again if you like peitan and tofu then as a cold starter this is always a nice teaser - pretty well done but the peitan was poorly prepped on the dish - mushy and unpresentable.

Finally, and certainly by no means least importantly - the noodle dish with fried scallions and seaweed - WOW
- this was just awesome - the simplicity of the dish focusing foremostly on the texture of the noodles - this was a TREAT - would go back just to eat this - had something similar in Shanghai at the end of a meal with my sister once and we were both impressed by the simple flavours and delighted in the noodle bite and overall finish the dish brought to the meal - Highly recommended and probably the cheapest thing on the menu - Bonus!

以京蒜等伴著沾了醬汁的炸雞件以粉皮包著來吃。粉皮整得乾爽並沒沒黏手算係一件好事,因為黏手即濕氣重即係連我也不喜歡一陣水氣味。炸雞亦炸得新鮮滾熱辣。

er…以我個腦乜都諗的人當日就先試一次不包粉皮食又有甚麼分別呢!?分別我覺頗大,不用粉皮單獨食炸雞件係很乾身哽喉冇特色,包著粉皮的炸雞件反而沾染到伴食的京蒜那股濕氣會顥得更清新。

粉皮的數量亦與炸雞及京蒜份量配合一致,這算勻真。

飯整得香軟煙韌,即使飯有飯殼質感都不會太硬太粗糙。桂花的香味亦沒太香精感覺,亦不算太甜。反而個人不太喜歡伴碟用作點綴裝飾的罐頭雜果,一來食慣新鮮水果的我不太受落,其二覺畫蛇添足反而食不到八寶飯這甜食的傳統精髓神韻反而像食了一個三不像的自創港式甜品,但慶幸的是蓮蓉的份量亦預計得宜,於其他食肆食過同款甜品太多蓮蓉會令個飯失色甚至我只會覺得像食完個月餅。

食後感:
因作首次嘗試並沒亂叫太多,今次那小菜香酥鴨反而會令我下次試試其餘的小菜款式,但點心今次就覺較一般不會太為這方面花費。

餐前小吃沒像一般的太鹹已很不錯。

茶要了菊花,花並沒太老沖完又沖沒味道,印象可以,有機會會試下一次。

前菜五小碟

5款冷盤前菜碟碟都做得幾骨子,加少少伴碟,觀感已好唔同,包括有:花雕醉雞、金瓜絲海蜇、涼拌茄子、四喜烤夫、糖醋小排骨,各具特色,5款都做得好食。
- 醉雞帶微微酒香,唔會蓋過雞鮮味,皮爽又肉滑。
- 金瓜即係南瓜,金瓜同海蜇都切成幼絲,望住絲嘅幼而修長,都睇出師傅刀功上乘。金瓜絲同海蜇絲都做到質感脆身,添少許麻油撈撈,不其然夾完一炷又一炷。
- 茄子切得長短勻一,又索足醬汁,加埋瓜身水份,咬落去汁液豐盈,軟腍度又適中。
- 烤夫(正寫為「烤麩」),好似海棉吸收晒醬汁,夠晒入味,甜中帶鹹,四喜通常指用金針、木耳、鮮冬筍、香菇,依個就用咗金針、木耳、毛豆,頂多只可叫三喜喎!
- 小排骨,排骨的的骰骰,主要食個糖醋汁,甜酸得嚟唔嗆喉。

可能你會嫌佢個賣相清得緊要,但神髓在於此。蝦仁雖然比較細粒,但炒得粒粒晶瑩,挑晒腸,誇張少少真係白裡透紅,既然清炒就係食佢河鮮味,所以雖有醋佐點,但都入口齋食,味道鮮甜清爽,再搞多啲「花臣嘢」,就破壞佢清炒之名。

砂窩雲吞雞
滔起位上,每位兩粒雲吞加棵小棠菜,湯頭色深鮮甜有雞鮮味,唔油膩;雲吞以鮮蝦豬肉為本,包得大大粒,穩打穩紥。雞肉另碟上,雖然隻雞係用作滾湯膽,但比預期中唔算點嚡,點點豉油我都食咗唔少。

椒鹽小黃魚

記得以前都係晌小南國食嘅小黃魚無依家咁大條,所以,叫小黃魚都唔多貼切。八人餐,一大碟共八條,唔使分,依然出色嘅小黃魚,就係皮脆肉嫩,師傅日日都唔知要炸幾多條,相信失手都機會細囉!

蟹粉燴魚肚

今餐無鮑參翅,有個肚(花膠),都幾好喎。魚肚我就視佢為高檔豬皮,依句都係講笑啫,兩者價錢差好遠,以前聽朋友講,有啲無良酒樓真係豬皮扮魚肚架。魚肚本身無乜味,重點在於佢嘅滋補價值,所以要搵啲相對味濃嘅汁醬嚟扣或燴。依碟魚肚燴得夠腍,咬落少少爽口,唔腥唔潺,配合蟹粉,無疑令個魚肚更貴氣,但足量嘅蟹粉令每啖更滋味。(題外話:原來豬皮本身都有好處,就係加速傷口埋口,不過食得多會吸收過量膽固醇。)

元蹄伴棠菜

期待嘅菜式,因為真係好難得食元蹄,平時散叫唔會點依道菜,通常啲人都話怕肥。難得係個餐嘅指定菜式,可以食過痛快。元蹄紅燒,醬汁非常濃稠,成隻元蹄都掛晒汁,一刀切開,清楚見到表皮、皮下脂肪、蹄肉。表皮軟腍,好似食緊肉凍咁;脂肪望落去就一定覺得肥,但食落唔算油;蹄肉被啲肥膏包住嚟炆,自然夠晒腍滑,所以就被大家搶得快,此外因為係全肉,無乜肥膏,點點醬汁就好好味。

其實都唔係點上湯,反而係一個加咗蛋白嘅厚「獻」,時蔬主要用菜心,加咗啲茶樹菇做點綴,只係為個套餐平衡吓,而作出嘅清菜間場,菜心鮮嫩,都OK嘅。

通常套餐,總係臨尾安排粥粉麵飯,勢要客人飽到捧住個肚走,但今次個餐係以灌湯生煎包代替往常嘅飯麵
,仲得我歡心,因為上面都食咗唔少嘢啦,真係飽得九乘十乘,來個灌湯生煎包倒有點特色。包底煎得香脆,包身鬆軟,豬肉餡亦醃得夠味且打得鬆化,唯「灌湯」有點不足。

桂花拉糕

拉糕亦即係上海年糕,係上海傳統食完年夜飯嘅飯後甜品,與「拉高」諧音,希望新一年晌財富同地位可以「拉高」「拉高」云云
。蒸好嘅拉糕,加啲桂花糖,入口軟綿煙韌黏牙,雖未至於齒頰留香,但桂花糖唔太甜帶有清香。
