I love char siu. I try to eat at every place that offers it. So, when I found this tiny little shop on my way to a grocery store nearby, I decided to pay them a visit.The shop is super tiny. They also offer two size portions of char siu that they have displayed on the wall. Just so you get a general idea. I found it interesting that they used the American  Chinatown takeaway boxes.

It came with half a semi soft boiled egg that had a wonderful runny yolk. I was recommended the orange flavor char siu so I had that along with adding $4 for organic vegetable rice. The portion was bigger than expected as the box didn't appear too big. It was enough for me to have leftovers the next day. The char siu was delicious. Very moist and juicy. It didn't appear to be a lot of fat but it was still very juicy. The taste of the orange gave it a sweet sticky taste that I liked.

The vegetables were fresh and sweet. The rice was mixed with quinoa so it felt like healthy with that extra bit of grain. The rice was the small pearl like rice so it was sticky and not dried out.

I also ordered a small portion of char siu and chose wine ($43) for boyfriend's dinner. It came in the smaller container.

The char siu here was darker in color and did look like it was marinaded in red wine. In fact, at the bottom of the box, I still saw liquid from the wine marinade. The wine made the meat even more moist and soft. The flavor was stronger as well.

I added $28 for a beauty tonic soup. This was also bigger than I expected. Portions, I realize were more than generous.

The soup had cordyceps, chicken and astragalus root. They included a lot of the ingredients in the soup. The chicken meat was still very savory despite being cooked in the soup. The soup itself was delicous. Rich in flavor and not too oily. Didn't detect any MSG. This definitely tasted like double boiled soup.

As I was leaving, the lady told me they had a fresh batch of red date longon tea ($15). Not sweet at all as it really relied on the sweetness of the red dates and longon. A refreshing  drink.

When one thinks of char siu, they often think it's unhealthy. But here they are trying to change that by offering healthy options for the usual char siu rice take away. Portions are bigger than it seems and  it was more than enough for leftovers to bring to work the next day. The food was tasty. Price was reasonable. And as the place is very close to where I live, I'd probably be back as I always need to go to the grocery store near by.

這天想吃叉燒飯,隨口說說,怎料朋友有建議。這是一家新開的外賣店,是一家叉燒專賣店!我沒有想過一間鋪頭裡面竟然有5款口味的叉燒!吃叉燒飯都會選擇困難!我們吃的是太郎叉燒珍珠有機菜飯及黑松露叉燒有機沙律菜。其實普遍的叉燒飯都好吃,但有一種大叔的感覺。這裡的叉燒飯包裝小巧可愛,提著一個這樣的飯盒,我覺得有種精緻的感覺!飯盒雖然精巧,但裡面份量十足!太郎叉燒是最經典的蜜汁叉燒,叉燒肥瘦適中,不會油淋淋,亦不會靭或者難咬。加上這裡的叉燒是切粒的,吃起來既方便,亦能享受厚切叉燒的嚼口!飯底不是一般的菜飯,這是珍珠有機菜飯!我覺得這個飯不油膩,味道帶甜偏清淡。我覺得叉燒、黑松露及沙律這個配搭不是很常見,不過,其實三者的味道配搭得宜,感覺很清新自然。我這天還品嚐了桂花雪梨茶及美顏湯。桂花雪梨茶清熱解暑,雪梨味道比較明顯,不會甜膩,喝下去是清爽的。美顏湯是蟲草花雞湯,很足料,亦沒有過多的調味,感覺很健康!
