Today I went back to my cereals for breakfast (although the Dorset Cereals that I mentioned and recommended last time seem to have disappeared from all Park&Shop!!! - Seriously, I visited a few just looking for this... I have to find them soon!!!). Anyway, as I was saying, I had cereal for breakfast, so no cheese egg sandwich, but then for lunch I decided I could not finish the week without trying one more... so I had one for lunch hahahahahaThis time I went to this place called Loy Fook (don't

This time I went to this place called Loy Fook (don't try to look for the English name in the entrance, I only saw it on some of the menus...).

It is located in Hong Keung Street, pretty close to Tak Lung, which according to the amount of reviews and general rating, seems to be the most popular in the area - and no, I have not tried that one yet. It is also next to a new Hai Nam chicken place called Tsui Po Pantry (which it seems has another branch in Tai Kok Tsui). Yesterday I tried this one for lunch but cannot add the review yet cause the restaurant has not been added yet to Openrice - yes, I already sent the request. In any case, let me tell you, if you live/work around San Po Kong check that place for lunch set, it's really cheap and food is nice!

Ok, so I have written a lot and have not started the review yet, sorry about that. Let's do it:

Went in, asked for the usual, replied that I don't want drink and paid: 15HKD. Ok, price is fair based on what we have seen so far (although remember the best one so far is a 14HKD one).

It took more than usual to be prepared, I would say around 4 minutes, even the waitress was like "fai di la!!!" to the kitchen
Anyway, you will not die waiting for 4 minutes... but of course this is Hong Kong hahahaha

So I get this plastic bag with a paper bag inside and the weirdest shape yet for any of these sandwiches... It looked like inside there was one of those paper balls that people do before throwing a paper to the rubbish bin.

Don't take me wrong, whereas I believe packaging is important if you have to take a sandwich around, the actual shape of this type of food does not really bother me... so whatever, give me a super tasty sandwich and I don't care if it looks like an eggplant.

So... the question is... was this sandwich a super tasty one? And well... It was just ok la.

Let me say that once I opened the bag, it looked as messy as it gets, and the oil splatter on the paper bag did not help much. In any case, it was hot, the amount of egg seemed fair, it was definitely juicy, but once again the distribution of egg was a bit irregular, half of one of the portions was practically egg-free.

The cheese however continues to be a disappointment, although at least this one wasn't cold...

So all in all it was an ok la sandwich. I keep referring back again and again to the first one I tried, and the key factor is the cheese... It seems quite a few places can make juicy eggs but most of them use the cheapest tasteless and textureless (I believe that is a new word) cheese.

Rating: 6/10 - Irregular distribution of egg + needs better cheese

Value for money: 6/10 - 15HKD seems to be the average around here so based on this quality I guess it's not too bad.

Gwailo friendly: 1/10 - Everything in Chinese, no pictures, waitress and cashier seem not to speak English so all in all, I don't think I would succeed ordering anything more complex than this hahahaha

In conclusion, if you are very close to this place and want a cheese egg sandwich and don't have time to walk 5 minutes to get a better one, well... this one can do.
