Ever since the revitalization of Central Market, it's become a convenient spot for some cheap and high-quality eats. This time we bumped into Chew Taiwan for lunch. ◆Beef Platter ◆Pork Intestine Vermicelli Soup ◆Roasted Beef Noodle Soup ◆Taiwanese Lettuce w/ Minced Braised Pork Mianxian soup was a big bowl with tons of large intestines, mushroom slices and enoki mushrooms inside. Seasoning of the soup was just right. Highly recommending the braised beef dishes! The difference of the beef between the platter and the soup noodle version was mainly the sauce - the platter was served in a spicy sauce with not only beef shank but also beef tendons, tripe and a soft-boiled egg that had absorbed all the flavors of the soy sauce. The beef and tendons were super tender. As for the soup noodles, the beef broth tasted rich and savory.

Greek food is one of the culinary niches in HK. Happened to come across Santorini, a restaurant that has opened for over a decade serving up some authentic Greek dishes. Spanakopita A freshly baked filo pastry filled with melting feta cheese and spinach. Crispy and flaky on the outside. Rich and creamy filling. Grilled Octopus Not the super tender style. The octopus was delicately flavored. Served with chickpea fava. Gyros Pork Huge portion, perfect for sharing. Savory salted pork belly slices, which matched in harmony with pita bread, Greek fries and tzatziki. Galaktoboureko Traditional baked Greek dessert with custard in filo pastry topped with pistachio. Not too sweet and the cinnamon on side enhanced the flavors. Buttery and satisfying.

Satisfy your meat and booze cravings at Amuse, a bar and restaurant with branches in Cheung Sha Wan and Jordan. They're currently offering a promotion of pork knuckle that comes with 2 glasses of complimentary Tipsy Lemon Tea. Tried Tipsy Lemon Tea for the first time. Not as tart and bitter as a standard chachaanten lemon tea but still had all the essential elements without adding too much sugar plus a twist of alcohol mixture. Guests could customize their preferred flavors of specialty wings with choices incluing buffalo, honey mustard and whisky BBQ sauce. We picked buffalo wings which were slightly spicy and honey mustard which tasted tangy and creamy. Nachos w/ Beef was a plate of freshly baked seasoned tortilla chips loaded with melting cheese, minced meat and chopped peppers. Must-have for cheese lovers. Schweinshaxe had a rather firm texture and the chef would precut them into smaller pieces before serving. We requested it to be served as a whole piece as we didn't want it to cool off too fast. Served with sauerkraut.

Pho Le is a Vietnamese beef noodle specialist chain under Tai Hing Group. Just came back from Macau and stumbled upon their new shop in Shun Tak Centre. Vietnamese Style Assorted Combo 4 kinds of fried snacks - spring roll, shrimp cake, garlic wings and lemongrass pork chop. Freshly fried and served piping hot. My favorites included the juicy wings and bouncy shrimp cake. Small Pho w/ Medium Rare Beef A different style of pho broth compared to what I had before. Instead of tasting beefy and savory, it was more like a vegetable-based broth that tasted sweet. Just the right portion as afternoon tea. Curry Beef Rice Loaded with tender beef brisket and potato wedges. Rich, creamy, sweet and fragrant curry. Guests could request to add chili oil if needed.

Chutney is a modern Indian restaurant in Central which offers a range of traditional Indian cuisine in a contemporary setting. Got there during lunch hours and the restaurant was packed with customers. Every table gets a complimentary plate of papadum served with 3 kinds of sauce. Kicked off our meal with a glass of bubbly prosecco and a fruity Chutney's Ice Tea. We ordered two lunch sets. For the starters, we picked the vegetarian Aloo Tikki Chaat, a famous Indian street food made with hash browns topped with mint sauce and tamarind, and Keema Pav, a stew made with minced lamb with quail egg which tasted slightly spicy. The butter bread served on side was super soft inside with a thin crispy crust. As for the mains, we tried different kinds of meats including Achari Beef Short Rib in an appetizing onion tomato masala, and Old Dehli Butter Chicken, which consisted of smooth and tender marinated boneless chicken in an extra creamy and satisfying sauce. Each main course came with two huge pieces of naan bread. Dessert of the day was a Passionfruit Coconut Cake, which was moist and aromatic with coconut flakes and passion fruit jam.

Went to Cheung Kung Koon half a year ago for their signature shark fin and barbecue pork. This time we visited again for lunch to try their homemade dim sums. On top of traditional dim sums, they provide a range of creative flavors and combos. ◆鮮蝦帶子粉果 Shrimp & Scallop Dumplings ◆蟹籽燒賣 Siu Mai w/ Crab Roe ◆櫻花蝦蘿蔔糕 Turnip Cake w/ Sakura Shrimp ◆脆脆笑哈哈 Crispy Rice Roll w/ Shrimp ◆香煎黃金糕 Coconut Cake Picked 4 out of 5 dishes with fresh shrimps before I realized it. Dumplings and siu mai were served steaming hot. The fried dishes were a standout - the turnip cake was topped with a crispy layer of sakuraebi, which enhanced the umami of cured meat inside the turnip cake, while the rice roll was thin and smooth with a flaky and incredibly crunchy layer of deep-fried dough and succulent shrimps inside. The sweet and chewy coconut cake was just right to finish off the meal.

Nom Nom Dumpling is a dumpling specialist with 7 branches in HK. Visited for the 3rd time yesterday and tried some new flavors. ◆Pork & Matsutake Dumpling w/ Soup & Truffle Sauce ◆Black Fungus, Cabbage & Pork Dumpling in Soup ◆Pan-fried Chive & Pork Dumpling ◆Choy Sum & Matsutake in Chicken Broth The soup made with apple, fish, pork bones, fig and yam tasted sweet and delicate. Dumpling wrappers were tender with a pleasant chewy texture. The succulent matsutake dumplings were fragrant with a good amount of meat, while the black fungus, cabbage and pork dumplings were layered with various textures and had a balanced ratio of meat to veggies. Pan-fried dumplings were crispy on the outside and bursting with meat juice inside. As for the drinks, we ordered a glass of thirst-quenching hawthorn and pear tea and a glass of smooth and hot soy milk.

Potluck Eatery, located at a quiet corner in the hustle and bustle of Yau Tsim Wong, is a restaurant with wooden interiors that offers not only the staple coffee shop selections but also a range of alcoholic drinks and a variety of dishes. Caesar Salad w/ Smoked Salmon Authentic caesar salad tossed with shredded parmesan, bacon and croutons. Fresh greens. Guests may add smoked salmon, chicken or crab meat. Conchillo Took a while to wait as it was prepared by order. Crispy thin layer of skin with a fair amount of fat. Succulent meat. Went well with the savory demi-glace sauce. Served with thick fries and salad. Italian Triple Cheese Pizza Super thin crust like a tortilla. Loaded with melting mozzarella, blue cheese and parmesan. One of the most satisfying pizzas I've had lately! Potluck is currently having a couple of discounts such as 25% off the a la carte menu and half price for a bottle of red wine during happy hour. Definitely worth revisiting given the outstanding food quality!

Siu mei is a type of Cantonese cuisine that requires great chef skills. Every siu mei restaurant has its own style that differentiates itself from the competitors. This time we came across "Yu Yu" in my neighborhood that has just opened for a couple of months. The boss welcomed every customer with a bowl of complimentary soup of the day, which was carrot and corn soup with chicken feet. ◆叉燒燒腩仔 Barbecue Pork & Roasted Pork Belly ◆燒鵝五寶 Roasted Goose Five Treasures The Five Treasures was a luxurious platter! Roasted Goose with barbecue pork, chicken, red sausage and roasted pork belly. My favorites were the pork belly with a thin layer of crispy skin and a good amount of fat, while the meat was delicately marinated, and the smooth and tender chicken. Big portions in general so we requested less rice. The soy sauce was sweet and savory but not oversalted.

Thai cuisine is renowned for its vibrant flavors, which is an ideal choice for summer. Today we stumbled upon Sun Thai in Causeway Bay enticed by its aesthetic design. First off, a refreshing sweet coconut and a pint of fizzy Singha. Green Curry Beef Slightly spicy. Rich, coconutty and creamy green curry. Tenderized beef with lots of veggies including eggplant, pumpkin and green beans. Naan bread, a must-try to eat with the curry that was served piping hot with a crispy and flaky surface. Thai Grill Chicken Each portion equals 1/2 chicken. Not as sweet as I thought but still savory. Well-marinated. Smooth and tender meat. Caramelized chicken skin. Stir-fried Garlic Shoot w/ Belacan Sauce Flavorful belacan sauce with dried shrimps, garlic and shallot etc. Big portion. Crunchy garlic shoot.
