I told the server that we wereinvited for food tasting, and in return I got a " you don't know what you are talking about, you mean you want to eat here crazy" look. Then, when I elaborated some more, he seated us. We were seated at a table with 2 other pairs very close to us. It was no doubt a place for a quick lunch. It was very squishy and with the utensils at the side of the retangular table, it was very askward. Also, there was a dirty tissue on my seat. Up until this point, I was not impressed.
Taste & Value:There were only 9 dishes on their menu and 1 was sold out so we had 8 to choose from.
My mood told me that I wanted rice, so I got the Beef Rendang with Tumeric Rice ($46) and my sister got Laksa ($47). For drinks, I got a Hot Coffee (+$7) and my sister got a Red Date Drink (+$7).
The Beef Rengang was served in less than 1 minute after ordering, which explained why it was barely warm. Although it needed to be much warmer, the taste was good. The sauce was rich and flavourful, and the coconut was strong unlike some other ones I have had before, which were very watery and tasteless. The beef was tender and not fatty. Also, the tumeric rice was amazing!!Although a bit greasy, I would have been content eating just that. Also, although I don't normally like ginger, I liked the hint of ginger in the rice. The 2 pieces of shrimp chips on top were fresh and delicious.
The Laksa too was also very good. The broth was rich and flavourful. Again, not watery nor tasteless. There was plenty of toppings, that made it a huge bowl of noodles. My sister really liked it, and I also enjoyed what I tried.
The drinks are tiny let me warn you. My hot coffee was very sweet and tasted exactly like a 3 in 1. My sister's drink was something more unique. It too was also very sweet, but there were dates in it, which made it less artificial tasting than my coffee. Final Verdict:
The food was very good, but the environment was very uncomfortable to be in.
題外話/補充資料：
This place is not opened for dinner. This meal would have cost us $107, if it wasn't a food tasting.
