Yup. Welcome to Wing Lok Yuen.
Located in Central, inside an alley way (cos that's how all secret places to eat are found), is a very old cha chan teng. Menu only in Chinese but you're only ordering the hotdog, they'll know what you want. Wing Lok Yuen has been churning out this popular hotdog to the public for years. And they sell a lot of them day in and day out. I think I read somewhere a thousand a day? Of course, they sell other food items but it seems people only come here for the hotdogs. You can order take away and it's super fast. One weiner for $13. Two weiners for $15. Yes, you can double dog it. Take away is available. You pay at the cashier, they give you a slip of paper with the order and they pass you the dog. Super fast. Super effecient. Street food at it's best.
This is the double dog version. Yeah, it looks a bit disgusting. But oddly, the mayo and weiner combination works. I'm not joking. It tastes better than it looks. The bun is toasted and tastes sweet. The mayo itself is a bit on the sweet side as well as opposed to being more tangy. The weiner is grilled and not just boiled.
For a cheap eat to tie you, this is a pretty good option. And surprisingly pretty tasty, too. Definitely a place to bring tourist friends because this is an institution.
