天膳 is one of the best fine dining Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong. From sashimi, sushi to hot dishes, it will serve you without a single disappointment. More importantly, it has a great selection of sake, however, it is slightly overpriced in my opinion. It is a small restaurant with simple décor, but its cosy, perfect for catching up with your mates.

Sashimi Set (9/10)
WOW! That was my first impression. The sashimi were not just fresh, it have the texture as well. It was just sensational.Sea urchin Sushi (6/10)
The sea urchin was sweet and delicate, as soon as it enters your mouth, it perfectly and flavour linger around your palate forever. The rice has great balance of the rice vinegar and was perfectly shaped into sushi, not easy to break at all.Prawns and Wagyu beef sushi (7/10)
The prawns were much creamier than the one we usually eat, yet sweet and crunchy. It was extremely fresh. The wagyu beef were perfect glazed by the blow torch, slightly cooked on the outside. The beef was very soft, full of the meaty flavour, and the juice of fat was just extraordinary. Miso soup with Prawns (7/10)
The prawns add the complexity to the Miso soup, it was much sweeter and fresher. Probably one of the better Miso soup I have tried.The manager Thomas, waitress Elaine and Chef Man were amazing. They were friendly, sorted out our order without us ordering. More importantly, we drank together! They offered us free desserts and a small bottle of sake too, isn’t it great?!

Casa Lounge is one of my weekend pre-drink hot spot. Once they have started lunch and dinner services, I have been planning to make a visit. However, it did take forever, finally I am here! Great décor with comfy sofa. The staffs were lovely as always, it always makes you feel like home!

Cauliflower soup (4/10)
Fair amount of cauliflower were used, and blended in smooth pure with vegetable stock. Great balance of butter and creamy were use, it was a very nice soup.Salads (4/10)
There were mixtures of 3-4 different salads. The veg were crisp and fresh, fairly season, and mixed well with the dressing.Hams (4/10)
The hams were fair. Obviously, it was not the finest quality, but for the price you paid, I think it was pretty decent.Dessert (6/10)
The desserts were the best part of the whole lunch! Nice presentation, it was delicate and rich. For the price you pay, this lunch buffet is highly recommended. I doubt anyone would think a club/lounge would bring you food with high qualities!

Kasbah is one of my top rated restaurants, because they do not just make great food, they serve authentic shisha with great wine. More importantly, you will fall in love with its Grand Bazaar (Istanbul) style décor and the lovely sofa seats are just so comfortable that make you want to stay forever.

Parsley salad with lemon juice (5/10)
This is one very refreshing salad, very Moroccan style. If you are not a sour person, please do not order, however I love it. The salad was full of the fresh parsley taste and the lemon juice further brought out the freshness of the herbs. Crepe with creamy mushroom chicken sauce (7/10)
The crepe was nice and soft and the sauce was just sensational. The sauce was rich, creamy and delicate, the mushroom and chicken have absorbed the sauce thoroughly. More importantly, the chicken was as tender as it could have been. Perfect hot appetizer! Lamb kebab with butter couscous (5/10)
The lamb was cooked to perfection, pink. However, personally I think that the lamb lacked some seasoning. The couscous was nicely cooked, very buttery and it matched perfectly with the vegetable soup! Perhaps I might be a little bias, since I visit this place very often. You got to try it out yourself to agree or disagree with me agreeably. I really hope to see you guys there!

One + one bar is one special hidden gem in Shatin! You can sit back and relax comfortable with the live band and the elegant décor. More importantly, the outdoor Terrance is even better. The services are outstanding the staffs take care the diners with extra cares. I have always been dying for German cuisine, and it is rather difficult to find a good one in Hong Kong, and tonight I found it. Cuisine: German

Roast Lamb thigh (7/10)
The lamb was greatly roast, fairly seasoned with garlic, rosemary and salt and pepper. The lamb was extremely tender (medium), more importantly the gravy maintained the lamb juice and cooked with the beef stock, very delicate, the chef know exactly what he was doing. Clams (7/10)
The clams were very nicely grilled with the broth, full of garlic taste, buttery and slightly peppery.

Mussels (6/10)
The mussels were very nicely cook, great amount of white wine were used to cook with thyme and garlic. Octopus (6/10)
The octopus was marinated nicely with the sesame oil and chilli sauce, sweet and slightly spicy. The texture of octopus were crunchy. Loved the idea having the Octopus as a cold starter.

German Onion Soup (6/10)
It is a tomato based onion soup, which cooked with beef stock. It was rich and delicate, the onion further sweeten the soup. Never know that Germany has onion soup, and it is actually can compare with the French one.Grilled tiger prawn (6/10)
The chef seasoned the prawn with salt and pepper, perhaps he finished it with garlic butter. The prawn was cook to just right, it kept the crunchiness, while staying juicy. Apple tart (7/10)
The apple tart used a lot of apple, and great balance between butter, flour and egg yorks. It would be even better if cinnamon was employed. The pasty was nicely made and the tart was full of apple’s sweet and delicate flavour. Swiss roll (7/10)
This was the best of the night. The roll was extremely soft with perfect sweetness from the icing sugar. Great balance of the cream. One you started eating, you will crave for more and more.If you are looking for a comfy restaurant with live music and eat all you want, this is the place for you. They don’t just serve ordinary buffet, they serve high quality German cuisine. The most important part is, we are in Hong Kong, we buy services, One + One bar certainly offers that.

Goccia is a bar/restaurant in the heart of soho. It brings Southern Italian cuisine to Hong Kong, the décor is stylish and comfortable, and tables are fairly spaced. Apparently, most of the ingredients are flown in from Italy and Europe.

Rocket salad with cherry tomato and parmesan shaved (7/10)
The rockets were dry and crisp. Tomato was sweet and fresh. The salad was nicely seasoned and topped with shaved parmesan. Fusilli chicken alfredo sauce (4/10)
The fusilli was cooked nicely – al dente. The chicken was fairly seasoned and tender. The alfredo sauce was creamy and rich, yet wasn’t too heavy for lunch. If you are looking for a nice elegant restaurant for a quick/business lunch, Goccia is the place for you. More importantly, it has great selection of Southern Italian tapas with sprinkling wine in the evening. However, the waiters are either no or stupid. I sat down while waiting my friend, and there were 3 different waiters serving us, and the waiter doesn’t understand English, we have to repeat 10 times before he gets the order and got it wrong. Bloody wonderful!

勝記 is one of the best seafood restaurant in Sai Kung. The chef’s cooking skills are highly recongnised. Even it is a little far from the Sai Kung Piers, 勝記 is still one of the hotspot that I would walk 15mins from the pier and enjoy my dinners there.

The king prawns were steamed with minced garlic and topped with soy sauce and coriander. The king prawns were fresh and sweet, very nicely steamed. It was just slightly over cooked.Razor clam in black bean sauce (5/10)
The razor clams were over cooked and wasn’t washed properly. Even the bell peppers were over cook! However, it had great flavour the sauce were very nicely made. 椒鹽瀨尿蝦 (7/10)
This has to be highlight of the night. The prawns were perfect deep fired with salt and pepper. The cell has a lovely flavour, once you started, you will never want to stop sucking it! The meat was cook to perfection, it was very delicate and sweet, absolutely magnificent,豉椒炒蜆 (5/10)
This was served on the house, the flavour was lovely, the perfect black bean sauce. We left it till late before we start eating, hence the freshness and the texture of the clams may not live to the expectation. 金銀蒜粉絲蒸元貝 (6/10)
The scallops were just outstanding! The freshness brought out the sweetness of the scallop, it was sensational. The texture was great, cook on the outside with the inside slightly undercook, and it was greatly seasoned!If you are looking for highly recommended seafood restaurants, this is one of the two I would highly recommend in Sai Kung.

A legendary Seafood restaurant!

Talking about Sai Kung, the first thing we would think of must be seafood. Loaf On is of the famous Seafood restaurant in Sai Kung, in fact in Hong Kong I would say. It is the only Seafood restaurant with Michelin star. More importantly, it has consistently been award 1 star for the past 3 years. The restaurant is not big, booking is definitely need. The reason Loaf on doesn’t has fish tank, is because they believe in freshness, they cook for what they have each day!

The razor clam was really fresh and very sweet. Slightly chewy texture nicely washed, not sandy at all. Stir-fried with the black bean and finished the sauce with chicken stock, it was stunning. More importantly, even the bell peppers were handling with care, not over cooked.椒鹽鮑魚 (6/10)
I have heard so much about it, but salt and pepper style, are you serious?! The flavour itself was great. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Perhaps, a wee bit too innovation to my standard. Stir-fried squid with broccoli (6/10)
The squid was outstanding! It was juicy, yet crunchy and it went perfectly with the broccoli, I was so glad that we didn’t go with the garlic fried! If you are looking for highly recommended seafood restaurants, this is one of the two I would highly recommend in Sai Kung. Don’t let the size of the restaurant fool you, it is a really good seafood restaurant that live up to its reputation.

炸虾饼 (6/10)
The batter was nicely made; if a hint of cayenne pepper was used to give some spiciness would be just perfect. The prawn cake was nicely made, slightly sweet and fairly season. Matched perfectly with the sweet and chill sauce.
泰色串燒 (6/10)
It was refreshing to go back to basics and cooked over charcoal. The flavour from open flame was stunning. The marinade had a great balance of galangal, garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce and palm sugar. The marinate was combined well to coat the beef, chicken and pork. The meats were crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside, fairly tender.
However, I know it is too much to ask, but for extra fragrance and impact, the meats should cooked on lemongrass skewers.
烤猪颈肉 (6/10)
Another charcoal dish! Again it was nicely marinated, this is a wee bit more burnt then the skewers
香叶肉碎饭 (5/10)
The rice was moist! Nicely seasoned, with sesame oil and soy sauce, slightly spicy. However, lacked the herby taste. It was only a take away experience, but without a question, it has its quality!

小南國 (中環) is located in the heart of Central. The interior is elegant and modern, high ceiling and table are fairly spaced. It severs great traditional Shanghaiese cuisine. The staffs are welcoming are friendly, it’s a full house during the lunch hour, the results speak for its quality!

小黄鱼 (5/10)
The fish was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, soft and juicy the inside. Greatly seasoned with salt and pepper, the fish was fresh and sweet. 山煎包 (5/10)
The bun was very nicely made, slightly sweet, spongy and wasn’t too thick. The bottom was fried nicely, very crispy and the filling was finely marinated with great flavour. As soon as you gave the bun a first bite, the flavour just burst out, absolutely wonderful. 津白 (4/10)
The vege was fresh, and it was soft – not over cooked – great colour. The flavour was sweet and delicate. It was a light dish to pair with the strong flavour of Shanghaiese cuisine. 四喜烤麸 (4/10)
The 烤麸was spongy, steamed well. The 面筋has washed away and there weren’t any 豆腥味, a great combination of 云耳 and green beans to decorate the dish.小笼包 (3/10)
The skins were slightly too thick and sticky. The soup could be warmer, but the flavour itself was just about right. The filling was marinated nicely. 担担面 (4/10)
The noodles were “al dente”. However, I prefer a thick soup base and either spicy or sweet (peanut butter flavour), the one at 小南国 was in between. If you are craving for Shanghaiese food, I think 小南国 is the perfect chain restaurant for you to visit, great food and services with reasonable price. More importantly, the food is very traditional and the décor of the dining rooms will never disappoint you with its class.

Red Bar and restaurant is one of the restaurants from the Pure group. It is located at the rooftop of ifc mall, Red serve great food and fantastic cocktails with modern décor. You would be very surprise that a gym/yoga group serves lovely food.

The smoke salmon was fresh and delicate. The salad was crisp and the sauce was slightly sour and refreshing, it was the perfect way to start a summer lunch.Fettuccine with mussels (4/10)
The fettuccine was cooked to perfection, al dente. The sauce was creamy and thick. Frozen mussels were used, soft and spongy, no dead mussels were served. Red serves healthy European cuisine, if you want a healthy lunch at ifc mall, Red could be one of your top choice. Even after work, it’s the perfect place for Happy Hour.
