If you are a fan of French crêpes, here is a restaurant for you! Situated on the second floor of a building in Wan Chai between Hopewell Centre and Star Street, La Crêperie is a cosy, dignified French establishment that is easily accessible and neatly seats around 20 persons. High wooden tables, lighthouses on the tableware and paintings of the sea on the wall pay homage to the shores of Brittany, and these are even matched by the waiters’ and waitresses’ blue-and-white-striped uniform. La Crêperie also has a branch in Shanghai. Whenever we go to La Crêperie, we notice that there is always one or two decent-looking French men at the restaurant. One of them is the owner of the restaurant and he is always extremely helpful and attentive. However, the other waiters and waitresses are polite but rather laid-back, and can be slow in responding to requests. I find the crêpe selection at La Crêperie an utter delight. The menu is filled with French names and can be confusing for someone who doesn’t speak French, but the selection includes classics as well as more inventive items, and I always find myself enthralled with the task of picking something from the mouthwatering descriptions. There are also pastas, mussels and other rustic French dishes. Even though I have never tried them myself, my friends who have tried told me that they are not great, and I always find myself too attracted to the crêpes to want to eat anything else anyway. In terms of pricing, I read on Openrice that some people find the crêpes overpriced, but for such fantastic meals which always only come to around $200 per head, I do not find the bills expensive. (1) Anyone would tell you that one of the most classic crêpes you can get is La Complete ($68), which is an open crêpe with ham, Emmental cheese and egg. The savoury crêpes are made with buckwheat flour as opposed to plain four, and the crêpes here are all heartily chewy. The layer of Emmental cheese was thick and satisfying, and the sunny side up was done beautifully.
La Complete ($68)
La Piano ($106)
L'Italienne ($108)
La Rennaise ($75)
Le Pecheur ($68) / Nutella Crêpe ($45)
Cafe au lait ($38)

I have been hoping to go to LA Creperie for quite some time. Bf thinks crepes are not filling enough so gave lukewarm response when I mentioned the place. I think crepes are better for lunch though as they are fresh and light. Anyways, I then choose to have my birthday dinner with my best friend here. The location was quite a long walk from the MTR Station, slightly closer to Admiralty than Wanchai. At night the entrance seems harder to find, which is shared with the serviced apartments upstairs. It is a little dark inside and candle lights are on. The place is quite packed and empty tables are marked reserved. It’s recommended in the menu to order an appetizer first before the crepes. We order a shrimp and grapefruit salad, to be followed by minced beef, egg and cheese crepe, and salted caramel apple crepe as dessert. For drinks I ordered dry apple cider and my friend chose rose lemon tea. The former is light and a good match with the crepe and the latter was praised and encored by my friend. The staffs were friendly and polite. The salad came with a crepe underneath. My friend said she liked the grapefruit, but I thought the shrimps didn’t have much flavour to it. We waited quite some time before the savory crepe came. The minced beef tasted better than expected as I have the corned beef served in local cha can tang in mind when ordering. The fried egg added moisture and was a nice complement. The crepe had some roasted or slightly burnt taste, though we were not too much bothered by that. The décor has motifs of a lighthouse that follow through to the salt and pepper holders. I like the salted caramel apple crepe more than the savory one. The saltiness was just right and everything went well together. I finished the piece much faster than minced beef one. I think gals would like LA Creperie much more than guys. Quite nice as a summer lunch under the scorching heat these days. Date of Visit: Aug 11, 2012 Occasion: Birthday Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 4 | Service 4 | Hygiene 5 | Value for Money 3

There are times when you crave a good crepe and I love that there are more crepe places these days to try savoury crepes rather than just sweet cream filled crepes. So decided to go try La Creperie. Have heard of the long lines so went there at 12:45 unfortunately didn't get seated until 1:30. Food is decent, Went for the Marco Polo crepe which was tasty and very filling which was a surprise as I always thought crepes were very light and full of air. It was so filing that i didn't finish my sweet crepe. Service is ok, not too great and to be honest, waiting 45 min for a 30 min lunch seems a bit of a waste and rather fast food like but on the other hand, it's not a bad deal at HK$88 for two crepes and a drink so I guess verdict is I will return Recommended Dish(es):

My girlfriend and I came in on the weekend and the whole place was empty. We wanted to sit at the window, but the waitress insisted we sit in the cramped corner as we don't have a reservation. During our entire meal, the place remained relatively quiet with only 2 or 3 other tables occupied. The waitresses simply don't care about service. It's apparent they don't care for their jobs. No greeting, no smiles, water was never refilled, didn't bother to check on how the food was, took forever to get the bill as the waitresses were chit-chatting among themselves, etc... You would expect better service from a French place. The Food is decent and moderately priced I had a ham and cheese with egg crepe and a chocolate crepe for dessert. Both were good and not too filling. The price is moderate, but the service is poor. They also have a good lunch set menu. A lunch crepe and a dessert crepe for $88 on weekdays. good value Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

I went to La Creperie for a tea break that day...luckily not too many people there. I have ordered Le Marco Polo and a capuccino. Overall, it taste good but the chicken meat was a little bit dry...the capuccino was nice! When I was living in Paris 10 years ago, I loved to buy the freshly made hot sweety crepe at the street...the crepe filled up with sliced banana and sugar or melted chocolate, it was so yummmy...remember to try it when you visit Paris next time!!!! It also have salty flavour crepe which filled up with ham and cheese. But if you go to a creperie restaurant in Paris, it could be very expensive. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

nice place/decor. very cozy and we thought it would be a perfect place for a bite to eat and a couple of nice coffees on a drizzly, gloomy day. food taste was okay although the marco polo crepe was way too spicy. service however was horrible and ruined the whole experience. of the two waitresses on duty one sat at the bar acting bored to tears the whole time while the other acted like she couldn't be bothered to help explain the various dishes or take our order. when we left, a guy who looked like a manager or something just stood there. no thank you, nothing. just makes us wonder why people/businesses go to all the trouble with food and decor and then completely ignore good service.

A hidden place on the Queen's road East, which has escaped my sight for years (I have to say I have a bad sight though). A perfect place to have a catch during lunch time. Although the faces staff looks a bit sad (except for the managers, good and friendly), but this cannot ruin a good lunch. It's feel typical french as you will find french customers and a french speaking manager at La Creperie. It's reasonable priced with their menu sets. Even a big eater as me don't feel the need to go to the Macdonalds. As they don't do bookings, the waiting time is around 20-25 minutes. The best way is to send one of your friends ahead to get a ticket before the groups arrive....You can imagine who that lucky guy was today... I went for the daily special a savory crepe filled with mushrooms and bacon and a crepe with apple rumble as a dessert. The crepe was thin and crispy, a little bit burned, but tasted a lot better than many hk places I have been, the choice of a mix of mushrooms and bacon was a bit overdone as both are already salty which makes the crepe a bit too salty, an extra neutral ingredient or less marinated mushrooms might be a wiser choice. this dish is decent but need improvement. the dessert was spot on. The marinated apple pieces in combination with the caramel sauce and the crispy crepe makes the 15 minute wait worth while. The fruity apple with the sweet caramel (with burned taste) and the crispy and thin crepe brings you back to the times when you were on the seine having awesome crepes. Although they forgot my tea, this place is worth to walk 100 meters more. Rating: 3 pandas Recommended Dish(es):

The seating here is quite squashed, but I don't blame them, it's HK and it's in a renovated old building with lots of pillar. Anyway the place is cute enough and at least they put some effort in making the place a bit cozy. Onto the food - had some savoury and sweet crepes. Overall quite impressed by the taste, but slightly overpriced as the ingredients involved aren't that special/expensive. All you need is a good batter and a good cooking tool and you are good to go! We tried a variety of crepes, the usual ones reviewed below, also a salad one, a dessert one, all taste delicious. It seems "light" but I'm sure there are plenty of calories in those things! I havent been to La Creperie in ages so decided to give it a revisit because there were two new crepes on the menu, La boudinée and La Roquefort. The lift that previously did not work was now working, and it was really nice with crushed sparkling glass pieces on the surface of the lift and fitted with mirrors. It happened to be a thursday, the day they serve mussels and chips, it was tempting to get the mussels but I stuck to my original plan and ordered the crepes. I chose to have La Roquefort served first because La boudinee was slighty sweet. La boudinée:black pudding. stewed apple, salted caramel, sweet crepe La Roquefort:minced beef, blue cheese sauce, tomato slices, salad ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ La Roquefort: On my previous visits, the crepes were much smaller and two were not quite enough for me, however they were much bigger this time. The roquefort was filled with minced beef and cheese, the blue cheese sauce was very strong, it was slightly bitter.
La boudinée: This was made from black pudding, and I love black pudding. In the crepe it was different to the british type where it contains bits of fat, barley. The black pudding here was more like a pate. There were sweet stewed apples in it. Basically this crepe is the same as the La sextant but with black pudding! Anyway my favourite crepe so far, because I am blood thirsty. It is similar to the Flipino dish Pork Dinuguan with pork blood. I think next time I will ask for the caramel to be put on the side, because the apples are already sweet.
Nice cutlery with interesting signs Maybe only vampire hunters can understand it?

i went there for dinner because of realizing that their tea set menu was not available in weekends too late...
which finally cost me $98. as mine was not a dessert choice, the crepe was made with BUCKWHEAT, but not WHEAT FLOUR.
the spinach was cooked with cream and was too salty even accompanying with a large bite of crepe, while the tomato slice was a bit too cold and raw that it didn't go well with the whole thing. the cheese was nice and rich in flavor,
it was WONDERFUL, SPICY, RICH, BALANCING the feeling of too full from the cheese. although i would not pay for it for the second try,

$88/$108 lunch sets not available on Saturdays and Sundays. Wanted to find a special place for lunch with D, whom I hadn't seen for at least a year. D is special to me. So although I had to dish a substantial $170 from my wallet (for lunch) I surrendered my dough willingly, not for the food, but for the excellent company. Thank you D. Environment: Low ceiling, dark interior, cramped seats...none that I like. But well diners aren't expected to sit down to talk for a long time. There were some bar seats, and some high seats, some window seats overlooking the human traffic. Next time I'm going for those. Am slightly claustrophobic. @@ Conversations easily overheard. Oh, a few small flies bothered us and D squished one that landed on my plate. Perhaps because of the rain and heat? Service: Fair. Nothing special. People were kind of laid-back, but as long as they gave me my food, cutlery and cleared my plates I have no complaints because I don't have expectations. Food: One comment I have to make about the Menu is that it's really difficult and troublesome to read. The Set lunch menu is located near the back but not on the back page. The sectioning isn't very clear so you'd get half a page of salads with a pasta dish located underneath and yet another specie of food located underneath the single pasta dish. If you're French I think you'd have an easier time with the menu. D is learning French but was regrettably, of little assistance.
Dry and Sweet apple cider
I ordered a Sweet Apple Cider while D ordered a Dry one for the sake of contrast. Hah. D preferred my sweet cider because 'Dry' was not unlike a diluted 'sweet'. It tastes like beer, sweeter, with less gas. It's easier to drink than beer but as an alcoholic drink it's wedged embarrassingly between beer and soda...root beer? Ginger ale? All in all - nothing special, not a must.
Conclusion: This place is worth a try. Hang on, that's an understatement - the crepes are really good. If it weren't for the price I would be visiting very often to try out ALL the crepes on the menu. They provide a variety of liquor as well. But at the price of $170...I could've found a lunch set that's much more delicate elsewhere. $170 for crepes, apple cider and a beef roll is a strain on my meager income. Recommended. Do give this place at least one shot. Recommended Dish(es):

Although we have made a reservation, they somehow cancelled our booking so needed to wait for a while before we got to our table. Apart from that the overall service is great and the food is really good. I don't remember the names of the food we ordered but it was no.37 and 81. The second one is full of caramel which scared me a bit when I first saw it but it wasn't as sweet as I thought. Definitely worth visiting again.

I came here for lunch with my brother and arrived just after 1130am, so we can choose our table. The waitress was right about the lunch time workers due to be flooded in, as the place was heaving just after 12 noon! They have 2 lunch time special menus, the first one is $88 and the other is $120, which allows you to choose 1 savoury, 1 sweet, tea/coffee and the option to add $10 for a soda or $20 for a cup of cider.
I love crepes and had the best crepes in Hampstead in London where I didn't mind queuing for over 40 minutes to get one, but the crepes here are very different to the ones I've eaten in London and Paris. It is very thin, almost crunch and very oily!! As for the sweet crepe, you can choose either butter & sugar or chocolate & caramel. I don't have a sweet tooth, so my brother ate both! The butter & sugar tasted better, unless if you are a chocoholic! The lunch set is definitely very much value for money, but you will need to forget about the calories and fat content! I will probably pop back in if I am in the area to try something else from the menu. There is a theory how set lunches are not the best signature dishes anyway, so I'll give this place another go.

After reading about this crepe restaurant from a magazine, me and my sister were eager to try out something different for lunch. We found this neat little place on the first floor of a building in the busy wan chai road. The decor is filled with nautical theme items. From lighthouse photographs, salt and pepper bottles to the yellow and blue cutleries. The place feels cosy and relaxed. We ordered a buckwheat crepe with spinach eggs and cheese and a crepe suzette just to see the differences between the salty and the sweet crepes. The buckwheat crepe arrived folded towards the middle with cheese thinly layered inside. The taste of buckwheat gave me a much healthier feeling, (perhaps that's just a psychological thing) but the bottom is slightly burnt (perhaps a bit too long on the hot plate). The sweet suzette crepe arrived with the waitress drizzling the flamed sauce on the crepe. I much preferred this choice. Maybe just personally preference, the inside of the thin crepe has orange marmalade, it is a little on the sweet side, but I don't mind it. People usually associate Christmas with celebrations and a day filled with joy and laughter, but not to the waitress who were working in this restaurant. I'm quite surprised by the other comments not only on Openrice but on other website commenting on their friendly service. It must have been a bad day for us, as the two waitress who were working there neither acknowledged our order nor smiled once at us. We were neither rude nor demanding but we were appalled by their lack of service. We get their attention to order something, upon hearing our order, they did not utter one word in response nor smiled. I'd go back even though the crepes are slightly on the pricey side on the scale, but under one condition. The service has got to improve. The two asian waitress would turn any customers away in the long run, regardless of their fluency in other languages. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)
