Shanghai Fraternity Association is accessible for those who are members of the club only. If you are not a member, you can become a member by purchasing membership. Shanghai Fraternity Association has remained to be one of my favorite restaurants in Hong Kong, particularly for its high caliber food. Many of the dishes here are common Shanghainese dishes that have a delicately unique take on them. If I recall correctly, my favorite dishes here include the smoked egg and the candied eel...

the previous critic made some inaccurate statements... which i hope to straighten out... HK is the hub of membership only restaurants. .. China Club, Bank Club, Cipriani, Kee Club etc... 1) you don't have to be Shanghaiese to be eligble to join SFA and 2) the chef is still there... just saw him the other day. anyways, some of the best things to try are the simple dish like 火丁甜豆 (simple yet delicious. the peas are cooked just right, not too soggy or too raw.....

Shanghai Fraternity Association has been running for so many years. However, people can only enjoy the food there unless they are members or bring by members. To be their members, they set up a lot of strict rules. First of all, you have to be a Shanghainese, secondly, you gotta be rich in the society. That means it can be called a valuable chance to try out the food there since not everyone is Shanghainese. I gotta admit, I love Shanghai Cuisine and I used to love the food the...

I gave a sloppy review without pictures - had dinner here again upon returning to my dear HK, feels so good to have solid, authentic shanghainese food again!!!! it was dinner with dad's friend, a gentleman from shanghai. he ordered as he is more 'reliable' with his shanghainese background... appetizers: 1. ma larn tou (diced ma larn tou vegetables with firm tofu): we have this every single time we come here. never been disappointed. appreciate the knife skills used to chop th...

We started with a number of appetizers, and actually had to cancel one or two for fear of over-ordering. Malantou (馬蘭頭, chopped Indian aster and tofu) - I thought it would be interesting to introduce this dish to people who aren't Shanghainese, as it's really not easy to find this outside of Hong Kong. The flavors are so distinctive and refreshing. Smoked duck egg (薰蛋) - halved with wonderful yolk, the smoky flavor was a bit lighter than I would have preferred. B...

this is honestly shanghainese food at its best - very authentic; and the variety of the menu is huge. when i am in HK i come here at least once a month. and the food is always consistently good. i strongly recommend the 'foo gwai gai' (literally luxurious chicken), 'chong shu yu' (fried sweet and sour fish), and all of the smoked dishes - smoked eggs, smoked chicken, oooh especially SMOKED POMFRET! it's slightly crisp on the outside, tender and to-the...
