Introduction
22 Ships offers an eclectic menu of modern Spanish tapas created by Michelin Star Chef Jason Atherton of Pollen Street Social fame – a protégé of Ferran Adrià and Gordon Ramsay. All tapas served in a buzzy yet relaxed setting, and a dynamic list of wines, spirits and Spanish beers. The no reservation- no service charge tapas bar offers diners an opportunity to experience what Atherton describes as ‘the deformalizing of fine dining’.

22 ships is a great restaurant but it isn't for me. In certain parts of the restaurant it is very cramped and the person next to you is practically touching you. The food however was very good I enjoyed the scallop cerviche with the sweet tangy taste. Because the scallop is served uncooked it gives it a little bit of a fishy aftertaste. The suckling pig is fantastic, the meat is tender and cooked to perfection. Although the food was very good there were some down sides to the food with...

I wasn't planning to visit this place even though I've heard their name few times before. I was on Wanchai ships street but in a rush to get few special tools for my dim sum class practice. A friend who accompany with me craved to b there for a quick bite since there were some empty seats inisde. She said they don't take reservation n normally it's always a long line outside. So we quickly ordered three things from the staff's recommendation. A quail egg truffle toastie was ok but a ...

nice nibble must-try!!! not bad at all! also tried the iberico n foie gras burger but forgot photo : p the burger and lamb r good but overall the fish session outshines the meat session smile the cod was sooo good! so tenderly cooked I'm missing it now. the best dish of this meal and a must-have-again! overall, i'd say 22ship is worth trying and worth revisiting (when the wait is not long). tho the seating was quite tight, the overall atmosphere wa...

Finally I tasted 22 Ships' food. In essence, it's definitely worth a try but not tasty enough to keep me coming back. Rather, it made me miss all the tapas I had in Barcelona last year. The best dish was spicy cod with chorizo, peppers and squid ink aioli (168). This dish, I want to have one more time. It gives you an idea about what the chef meant by "deformalised fine dining". I personally appreciate Dot Cod's fish dishes as they are cooked so skillfully that fish is us...

It has been a while since I last went so we decided to take a friend visiting HK to what has become almost an institution. SETTING Very cool vibe in this tiny restaurant on Ship Street. Nothing spectacular on the décor but overall it works. The music is loud and the ambiance very lively. One thing to mention is how tight the seating is. After waiting a good 45 minutes at their sister outlet Ham & Sherry having beers, the three of us got called by the very nice ho...

Well, I know the main chef Jason and other guys working here since I come here a few times already. Each time my guests were happy and intrigued. They serve the same menu for lunch and dinner. Often one finds a watered down lunch menu at many places but not here. How should I describe the food. Well, perhaps from the point of view of how to put it together and the ingredients that go into making up each dish. I find most of the small dishes tastefully put together and the ingredients wo...

The atmosphere of this tapas restaurant was quite cohesive as the tables were closely seated and there was an open area where customers had to sit at a long bench sharing the long table. I and my friend were excited about this restaurant because a lot of our common friends had so many positive feedbacks about this place so we’ve decided to come here and try the food out. Brittany Oysters $68- they were fresh and sweet, I could have dozens of these bite sized babies.Iberico pork and foie g...

Arrived at 7.00 on a Saturday night after work, ordered a beer and waited for some friends, there was meant to be 8 of us but ended up being only 4, when my friend got there she waited a little and put our names down, I was almost finished my beer by now and it was around 7.30, our friends were meeting us at 8 so we did as advised and went down to the bar affiliated with the resturant down the road! DELICIOUS cocktail but that is another story all together!  22 ships gave us a c...

If you want the TL;DR version, it's that the food is OK at best, and the wait is terrible.Let me tell you about the wait. We showed up at 7:40pm on a Saturday. Terrible time to show up, I know BUT, in my defense, I regularly eat around 8:30. So a wait of an hour or an hour and a half is fine by me. At the door they have the nicest and most disingenuous man working. He told us that we had a 45 minute to an hour wait, and suggested we wait at their wine bar, behind Ham...

I was wandering through Wan Chai around 11:45 and feeling a bit peckish, so I thought I'd pop over to 22 Ships and wait for them to open. The meal I had was one for the books. I started with the Iberico and Moreilla Duck Egg. I thought the dish to be very good, but would have preferred the egg to be cooked a little less (I like a runny yolk). However, that was my only demur. The next dish was the Squid and Jamon Paella. I've never had a better paella. The saltiness of th...
