Grassroots Pantry is not "just another veggie restaurant". It's a special restaurant because it serves great food with a lot of thought put into the menu, and sources many of the vegetables from local farms. Like many of the previous reviewers, I enjoyed the service. Peggy (owner of the restaurant) is simply delightful; she is always smiling and making sure that we are enjoying the food. I went to Grassroots last week and found to my delight that the menu has changed since the ...

As a vegetarian living in Pokfulam, I had to try Grassroots Pantry when I heard about it. They offer a simple menu with a few appetizers to choose from and a few mains. The place has a nice ambience, but the tables are packed quite tightly so that you are practically sitting next to other people like in some coffee shops. A couple of the menu choices were Indian dishes (e.g. palak paneer), which I did not feel tempted to try since about 1000 Indian restaurants in HK offer these v...

I found Grassroots at the PMQ night market and I thank my lucky stars I did! We walked around as you do at markets to scope out all the food and come back to the one we really wanted. The guy at this stall was amazing, so friendly, immediately talking to us, we got the card he explained to us that everything is 'guilt free' (though with something tasting as good as it did I couldnt help it) they were vegetarian and looked incredible! I decided no matter what I wanted to come bac...

It was so good that Grassroots Pantry had a stall at IEM otherwise I would have not been able to try their food. Grassroots Pantry is located in Sai Ying Pun which is extremely inconvenient and far away. At the stall, they sold salads for $58 per box which is a mix of all three salads. The salads were: Quinoa salad with dried fruits, sunflower seeds, orange and hazelnut dressing. Sprouted mung beans, peas, edamame, seaweed, salad and ponzu dressing. Roasted beetroot salad dres...

smile Located down a small side street, this area is starting to see new restaurants. This restaurant is open lunch and dinner except for Sunday (dinner) and Monday (lunch and dinner). Restaurant A former tea house, 2 floors and some outdoor seating, it's cute, not formal and best for an informal chat, tables are close together. If there's a negative (classic Hong Kong) too much bright overhead lighting (no one on earth looks good with overhead lighting) nor is th...

There is no need for more introduction to Grassroots Pantry (GP) among the veggie community. Since its opening in June 2012 it has built its loyal base of patrons (including me!) with its creative, healthy and yummy plant-based dishes, using in-season, local, and organic ingredients.Hiding away in an alley off Third Street in Sai Ying Pun, the country-style boutique restaurant and workshop is surrounded by shades of green from the potted herbs and plants at its door...

Tried to book a table for a few times and finally made it. Read about the restaurant and the owner. Intrigued and looking forward to seeing it myself: people cook with a heart, and passionate about their food. What we ordered: Singature Quinoa salad, Tofu crouquettes, Green curry veggie, Mixed mushroom linquine Salad: Very fresh, very nice, and taste authentic (eat slow and you will taste what they meant to be) Crouquettes: Nice compliment to cold appetizers. T...

The food is quite tasty - fresh and well balanced. You won't leave hungry, and my friend and I were fully satisfied. However, it's really not a cheap place - the main cold soba dish with tofu was $170. That seemed a bit steep. Overall, with one shared appetizer and one main each, without drinks or dessert, the meal was $220 or so per person for lunch. In terms of service, the restaurant still seems to be sorting out their systems - a lot of things feel quite manual and don't ...

From the moment I walked into Grassroots Pantry, I knew that I was in store for a special experience. Unlike the usual Hong Kong establishments that treat restraunts like some sort of factory assembly line, Grassroots makes every person feel as if they are at home. Welcomed by smiling and friendly faces, I excitedly took my seat among the other patrons. Our kind hostess took us through the menu, and seemed to genuinely care about what we were ordering and if we would like it. I have ...

I've now been to Grassroots Pantry 4 times since it opened (my latest visit was last Saturday). It's become my favorite restaurant here! The setting is lovely, cosy, and unpretentious and the food is DELICIOUS. My favorite dishes are: 1) the linguini (creamy and earthy - a must try if you love mushrooms!) 2) the quinoa salad (fresh and light, with great complementary textures from the chewy quinoa, crisp greens, zesty cranberries, and rich walnuts) 3) t...
