It's one month to Christmas and Landmark is already decked out in Christmas decorations as a winter wonderland this year! From previous recommendations, we arrived at Le Salon De Thé de Joël Robuchon at ~2:30pm to avoid waiting in queue for their afternoon tea that starts at 3pm. We were allowed to sit down right away but the food would not be served until 3pm. The seating was kind of weird as they were split between several tables on the inside next to their bakery/kitchen and on the outside which overlooks the mall. We chose to sit on the outside for the nice view of the decorations and people watching! For sitting on the outside, we had to prepay first but there was no 10% service charge. That suits me just fine!

Afternoon Tea Set for Two ($380)

Earl Grey Tea - the afternoon tea set for two came with 2 cups of coffee or tea of your choice. I chose the earl grey tea which came in its own tea pot with milk and sugar. The tea was aromatic and comforting while the flavor was light, which was perfect to go along with the afternoon tea set and help with the digestion.

Scones - The sandwiches and scones arrived together first, and there was one earl grey orange scone and one raisin scone for each of us. The scones were not hot though and while the texture was crumbly, it was also a tad on the dry side. I was not able to taste the flavor of the earl grey orange scone - it just tasted like plain scone to me. Some clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam were provided as spread for the scones, which helped to enhance the taste. The clotted cream was soft and rich while the strawberry jam had clumps of fruits in it. The strawberry jam was pretty good, although it smelled like potpourri which was rather odd. Overall, the scones here were good but not the best that I've had.

Sandwiches - 5 sandwiches in total which were rather dainty in size.

Maine Lobster and Mango Sandwich - the taste of the mango was strong and sweet, yet did not overpower the taste of lobster. The overall texture of the sandwich was soft and easy to eat with its jello-like mango, lobster paste, and soft bread layers.

French Style Black Truffle Sandwich - easily my favorite sandwich of the set! The sandwich was aromatic while the pate was rich and flavorful. One of those dishes where you want to have one again and again. It definitely made a memorable impression on me.

Smoked Salmon and Salmon Egg Sandwich - the smoked salmon was salty while the salmon eggs provided a bursting texture. A solid sandwich overall but not impressive.

Vegetarian Eggplant Sandwich - this sandwich was rather plain compared to the other sandwiches in the set. The herb on top was fragrant but the taste was not memorable at all.

Goat Cheese with Salmon Sandwich - this sandwich was rich as the goat cheese was creamy and salty which contrasted nicely with the salmon. The bread was also different than the other sandwiches as it was harder and crunchier which provided a different texture to cheese and salmon. Another satisflying sandwich of the set!

Pastries - onto the desserts! 5 desserts in total which were similar in size to the sandwiches.

Mont-Blanc - a mont blanc that was not so mont blanc with too little chestnut puree. The chocolate and meringue easily overpowered the flavor of the chestnut.

Paris-Brest - the choux pastry was light and delicate with fillings of hazelnut praline which was soft, creamy and flavorful! It was light and not too sweet to eat. The nuts on top provided a nice texture as well. Yum!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cake - at first I thought the raspberries were sitting on a hard cheese cake but as I bite into it, I was surprised by the soft texture which was actually white chocolate mousse! The mousse was creamy and mildly sweet which went very well with the sweet and sour taste of the raspberries.

Homemade Macaron Ganache - best pastry of the tea set! I love the crunchy texture of this dessert provided by the macarons. The chocolate ganache was also very rich and yummy which made this dessert overall a delight to enjoy!

In general, the quality of the afternoon tea set here was consistently good across most of their sandwiches and desserts. While the portions may be a bit small, I think it is still a good deal at $380 for 2 people. Overall, Le Salon De Thé de Joël Robuchon is a great place to relax, do some people watching and indulge yourself with good food.
